Iranian hard-liners consolidate power

In August, I wrote an article for FrontPage magazine entitled "Iran's Most Radical Regime", which warned that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, the fanatic secret police/para-military force that maintains the hardline tenets of the Khomeinist revolution, was rapidly taking over the levers of power in Iran. Unfortunately, my fears - shared by many others, of course - seem to be coming to pass, as indicated in this story from Iran Focus:

Iran’s para-military Bassij, which groups together ultra-Islamist vigilantes loyal to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, are assisting the newly-installed ministers in the hard-line government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a semi-official daily reported on Sunday.

During an interview with Iran’s state broadcasting corporation, Revolutionary Guards Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi said his forces had already started work with “certain ministers”, according to the hard-line daily Jomhouri Islami.

Hejazi, a member of the IRGC high command, is the commander of Bassij.

“We are fast cooperating with government ministers in required fields”, Hejazi said.

The Bassij is the paramilitary militia force which, under the command of the IRGC, often attacks and brutalizes reformers or political dissidents. Their involvement in the ministries, especially the power ministries such as defense and oil, is a particularly worrying development. These ministries once displayed a certain level of independence, especially under President Khatami. Now, their total loyalty to the edicts of President Ahmadinejad and his overseer, the Ayatollah Khamenei, seems assured by the brute force of the 4.5 million-man Bassij.

OT but a great new anti-Jihad site is,

To make any lasting change in a nation's personality one must decimate the population: one in ten. Anything less than that leaves resentment and festering hostility toward the victor. The homeland population feel that they could have won if only. And they'll try again. And again. And again.

The only way to change an enemy into an ally or, better still, a friend, is to destroy his culture by destroying his will to resist. And then one must go further by destroying those who resent their loss. Then one must go further and destroy for the sake of dominating the losers. And then one must go further and destroy for the sake of ripping out the soul of the nation conquered. And then, when the enemy cries for us to stop we destroy them more, and then more, and when finally they cry out "We are you," then we move into their land and marry their own people and they are us forever.

I won't regret a war against Iran. I look forward to the day when Iranians are American, when Iran is as American as is Tennessee.

I can't see those coonskin caps working in the Teheran weather, nor moonshine stills in the holler. And I can't quite visualize an Iranian Fess Parker who killt him a bar when he was only three -- can you?

Wasn't it Davey Crockett (king of the wild frontier) who killed him a bar when he was only three (who then took another shot and climbed up a tree)?

BTW... who CARES about Iran? We put Saddam away, wasn't that the most important, pressing, and vital-to-the-interests-of-American-security/world-peace issue of the modern era?

It wasn't? You mean, instead of weakening Iran, we've strengthened it? Oh my. I hope the Vacation King doesn't get word of this. Make sure Condi keeps that away from him... tell her to send him on a pee-pee break when that comes up at the UN.

Well the "red crescent of embrace" meme is starting to peter out, and thank God. Some people (Charles, call your office) were starting to sound a little... hysterical. Kind of like the hyper-feminists who see a phallic symbol of patriarchy in EVERYTHING that's more than three times taller than it is wide. Like: bullets, LAAWs, bombs, jets, missiles, rockets, and police truncheons; sports cars, minarets, the Washington Monument, and skyscrapers; humans, trees, scrolls, Big Gulp cups, tampons, paperclips, penises, snakes, .... you get the picture.

Then there are the every-alert, indefatigable "palestinian" sympathisers. When they go to a zoo, they say "That bear over there is a Zionist" and if they visit a park they think "That tree hates palestinians...." Everywhere they go, everything they see, reminds them that theJooozaretakingover.

Please, my fellow jihadists.... let's not get carried away here. It was two freakin' circles for cryinoutloud. Of particular absurdity was the petty, conspiratorial attempt to link the "red crescent of embrace" simultaneously to Islam and Communism...what a joke. Especially when considering that the Chicoms are one of the only "infidels" not targetted by Islam (ever wonder why they Pakistan-jihad campaign in Kashmir only targets the Indian section of Kashmir and not the Chinese section? Becauase Pakistan doesn't want to get IT'S ASS KICKED by China. If the jihadis sneak into the Chinese section of Kashmir and started murdering soldiers, their dependents, and pilgrims, Karachi gets firebombed THE NEXT DAY.)

Also consider where communism has actually been voted in and works: three states in India, another object of Muslim hatred.

Also consider the epic battle of Afghanistan jihadis versus the godless Soviets... who's side were WE on? (Remember, Rambo himself helped the jihadis and Reagan funded them.)

Recall that Indonesia--home of Suharto, the greatest living war criminal (who oddly enough hasn't been "indicted" by "the world court" in The Hague unlike the puny-by-comparison Ariel Sharon, but Suharto's a Muslim, and Muslims CANNOT COMMIT CRIMES so wtf)--where 700,000 "commuist" ethnic Chinese were massacred in the 60's. Combined with the 350,000 killed in East Timor the next decade, and Indonesia joins the ranks of the illustrious over-one-million-murders-since-WW2 Club. Just like Pakistan (inducted twice: India 1948 and Bangladesh 1970--and just imagine these pigf*ckers have the nerve to criticize Israel!), Egypt, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Rwanda, Burundi, Cambodia, and Zaire.

The mobilisation of Iranian troops on the Iraq border was an obvious move. They fully expect the "Civil War" they have instigated, encouraged & invested in in Iraq to come to full fruition in the near future.

They will manufacture the scenario whereby Iranian troops will engage on Iraqi territory to "protect" the Shia from "aggression".

Question is, when the Iranian Divisions move on to Iraqi sovereign territory, what will the Coalition of the willing do?

The Iranians are banking on the Coalition not engaging them, & leaving them to afford the protection to the South - essentially creating a "Greater Iran". This will undoubtably be backed up by some cobbled together UN resolution.

This would suit Princess Tony down to the ground - the chance to withdraw the main body of British Troops from Iraq.

We must look at Iran's confidence of late, their swagger, their threats.

It would not surprise me in the least if Iran had manufactured the whole Iraq invasion - with this final & predicted scene being the end game of a very well played game.

The Iranian hardliners may well be representatives of the Devil here on Earth - unfortunately we have characters from Sesame Street & the Telly Tubbies as their opposing numbers.

Unless we find a Churchill damn quick, the Iranians are going to make such gains in the coming 12 months that it will prove to be impossible to beat them back without a full on global conflict.

And they know it.

I wonder if anyone in the administration realizes we are at war already? Does George require a bitch slap and a set of gloves thrown at his Florsheims before he stops talking about "terror" and refers to the actual enemy?
Lets get this thing over with before we are dealing with a country that can deliver a tactical nuke against massed troops in the field or worse.

Yes, I fess up -- it was Davey Crockett, whose doubtfully autobiographical "Life of Davey Crockett" i have right here in front of me). I was deliberately confusing things in the miscasting of memory, as a child would, recalling the name of the actor who was so indelibly identified, circa 1954, with the man whom he was playing. Perhaps not to everyone's taste.
