Iranian President Gets Terror Law Exception

Memo to terrorist heads of state or heads of terrorist states: Welcome to New York, enjoy your stay, and please don't leave a mushroom cloud with us when you leave. From ABC News:

The State Department says Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a terrorist, but will grant him a visa anyway, ABC News has learned.

The State Department has issued a legal finding that Ahmadinejad is ineligible for a U.S. visa because of section 212(a)3(b) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act, which says anyone with terrorist ties cannot be granted a visa.

But U.S. officials have decided to waive section 212, so that Ahmadinejad can get a limited visa to attend the United Nations General Assembly, which begins on Sept. 12. A senior State Department official tells ABC News the waiver will be granted because of the limited nature of his visit. Ahmadinejad won't be allowed to travel more than 25 miles beyond U.N. headquarters in New York City.

Furthermore, denying a visa to a head of state would violate the agreement that put the U.N. headquarters in New York.

According to the State Department, no head of state has ever been denied a visa to attend the U.N. General Assembly, although Yasser Arafat was denied a visa in 1988.

The Bush administration has been under tremendous pressure from the veterans of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis to deny Ahmadinejad a visa. Many of the former hostages say Ahmadinejad was one of their captors. An extensive U.S. investigation, however, has uncovered no evidence to prove Ahmadinejad had any role in the hostage crisis. Evidence or no evidence, the legal finding says the Iranian president has terrorist ties.

Do you have such a thing as "Citizens Arrest" in the USA?

As this President is a known terrorist who did not respect the sanctity or the jurisdiction of the American Embassy in Tehran, maybe we should ignore the rules as well.

And how this great leader will gloat as he glides into JFK.

The UN, the F_______G UN. F___ the UN.

Thanks, UN.

What follows is a translation from a newspaper article in today's electronic version of La Repubblica, the leading Italian left-wing newspaper. The story is so astonishing, so laden with layers of utter madness, that I do not think I need add a lot of comments - mostly I will underline passages that seem to me particularly significant.

FERRARA, Italy - A 29-year-old Israeli Muslim kept his wife and children jailed in his own house for fear they should leave him. He has been charged aggravated kidnapping. The woman is a British citizen converted to Islam, mother of two children of one year and one month..

Last night the mobile squad of Ferrara Police Command received a telephone call from the British Embassy, warned by the woman's mother. The police went to the couple's home, but did not find the man, a university student in pharmacy, who was then praying in the mosque. [Last night was the festival of the Ascension of the Prophet] The agents did not break the door down, but reached the man by telephone.

When he returned home, husband and wife explained to the agents that they have been having disagreements for a long time. That is why he had decided to lock wife and children up; a decision which the woman had partly accepted She is a former lecturer at the University of Ferrara and did not want to leave the home she shares with her husband and children. Anyway the man has been charged with aggravated kidnapping.

This is cleary a summary of a police news release. It says nothing about the conditions in which the woman and children were kept or how this man - who, being an Israeli Arab, ought to have been aware of the way things are done in liberal democratic societies - had "convinced" his wretched wife to let herself be treated as a prisoner. The police view of what they found is sufficiently shown by the terrible charge of aggravated abduction, one of the worst in the penal code. And how a university lecturer could allow herself to be turned into an imprisoned baby machine (the fact that one child was one year old and another one month tells its own story) in the middle of one of the richest and freest cities in Italy, is more than one can understand. Her conversion to Islam seems to me part of a dreadful mental pathology with many of the features of sado-masochism.

Uh, the various underlines and italics block I had tried to put in did not come out the way I wanted them. Just bear in mind that the article ends at the words "...charged with aggravated kidnapping", and that the notice that yesterday night was the Prophet's Ascension is my own addition to the text.

If an Indian cheif minister visa is revoked because he "failed to protect" minorties in his state according to CAIR then how on earth is Iranian President allowed in US. Smacks of double standards...

Wonder how many kisses and hugs he will get when he gets here? Even dirty rotten terrorist thugs need hugs. Maybe if Mahamoud had gotten more kisses and hugs as a child , he would not be a terrorist now. Just think how much better off the world would be if Mohammad had gotten kisses and hugs when he was a child. Dont be surprised when you see Bush and the Bushmen/woman kissing and hugging terrorist types. Geo knows the value of a hug and a kiss, and he is an adept at the tactile craft of handholding.
Even if Bush does not hug Mohmoud, and give him a big smooch, Kofi will. And so will a bunch of those UNians who also realise the value of a good smooch and pat on the arse.

To Vikrant_Camberleykar

To ascertain the distinction between an Indian chief minister who is refused a visa and a muslim terrorist and head of state who is granted one, I suggest we look for inspiration from Eric Blair (aka George Orwell) who, as I am sure you are all aware, in his 1945 novel "Animal Farm" wrote:

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

In the novel this proclamation is made by the pigs.

How's that for irony!

jsla,

Very funny.

This is not the fault of the U.N. This is the fault of the State Department and the INS. We have officials at State who are more interested in maintaining diplomatic protocol than in protecting the interests of this nation. The INS has shown itself to be bloody incompetent (cf, the 9/11 hijackers, those who plotted the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center).

What is the U.N. going to do if State and INS didn't grant the Iranian president a visa? Pack up and leave? Issue one of its "condemnations"? Who cares what the U.N. thinks, anyway, except isolated, pseudo-intellecutal elitists?

Is it me, or does that sound very disturbing?

WHATs all this about - i mean did the rest of the world force the un on the usa? did the us even insist on its being there? did it welcome the presence of the un on its soil?
i dont know perhaps someone does
in any event, it would not be there unless the us agreed to it

when you think of all the dubious, even dangerous individuals whove come to the un over the years, well id have thought that would just be part of being the un host country

no matter where the un parks itself, some country is going to have to issue visas for delegates to attend, after all.

if the usa no longer wants its presence, then why doesnt it just say so?

the truth is, that the only america that counts in this sad world, corporate america that is, is well into the un to further its own ends

unlike many in here, i care about the un, especially now that the initial, wonderful vision of it has become so very corrupted. i have no desire to see a single country become the worlds policeman

btw ALBION, since you have so lost the plot with all your swearing, on the subject of citizens arrest, why dont you just go over there and take out the whole saudi delegation, or the syrian, or the vietnamese or the chinese of any of the other despisers of humanity?

incidentally albion, you have not responded to my invitation to come up here and check me out, since you were one of the ones slyly insinuating i was a jihadist. (as opposed to the ones declaring outrightly that i was) whats up? you taken cold feet? are you scared i might be the one to find you out? what are you anyway, bnp or something?

the invitation is genuine and still open

as for "anyone with terrorist ties cannot be granted a visa" - a lot of double standards involved there. after all re the republican scum of the ira, the czechs supplied the semtex, the libyans the know how and the americans the dollars.

in the 1980s, those dollars almost took out the entire british government in brighton, young kids, old people etc. all over, yet every st patricks day, the vermin were there in the white house jollying it up

yeah gerry adams was a terrorist, and he got a visa. not to go to the un, oh no. to go have lunch with potus
