Remote control bombs and random shootings of Buddhists -- Thai jihad update. "Seven killed in militants' attacks in Thai south," from AFP, with thanks to Twostellas:
NARATHIWAT, Thailand: Seven people, including two police officers, have been killed in Thailand's Muslim-majority south, as violence flared in the wake of a deadly hostage-taking two days ago, police said. Two police officers were killed when a bomb exploded as they cleared the road for a convoy of teachers going to Ban Kaseanue school early Friday in Sungai Padi, Narathiwat province, police Captain Nethiwut Deekaeo told AFP.
"The roadside bomb went off at 8:30 am, killing two policemen instantly and injuring one officer," Nethiwut said.
Sergeant Somchai Khaisak, 25, and Sergeant Somkid Romthong, 25, died with major injuries to their heads and bodies from what police believe was a remote-control bomb detonated to hit the teachers' escorts.
Teachers and schools, seen by militants as a symbol of Bangkok's influence, are frequent targets of shootings, bombings and arson attacks. Armed police and soldiers escort teachers to and from class every day.
Hours later, another remote-control bomb detonated in the same district of Narathiwat, injuring three soldiers, and a smaller bomb exploded and damaged a car outside a mosque in neighbouring Yala province, police said.
Also in Yala, a 65-year-old Buddhist man, Klom Huapet, was shot dead Friday morning while driving his motorcycle home from market in Yupo village, police Major Virat Damkong said.
In neighbouring Pattani province, a Buddhist construction worker was shot dead while on his way to work, police Major Chatchai Bumrungkorn said.
Gunmen on a motorcycle shot Prasert Kongchuay, 47, three times in front of the Paklor health office, Chatchai said.
Late Wednesday in Sungai Padi, a Muslim man believed to have been a police informant was shot dead as he travelled by motorcycle with his Buddhist wife, police said.
It MUST be the Jooz fault. Mohamed Mahathir, former PM of Malaysia says that Joooz have declared war on Islam. Maybe the Buddhists have declared war on Islam too.
It would be fascinating to hear an answer from those who think that "victory" in Iraq -- what does this word mean? does it mean anything? what should it mean? -- can be achieved, how exactly this "victory" would contribute to lessening the number of attacks, motivated by Islam, by Muslims on Buddhists in southern Thailand, or by Muslims on Hindus in Bangladesh, or -- well, the list would be too long, but you can add to it however many examples you wish. As long as Iraq is seen as a place to rescue Islam, to make Islam safe for democracy, rather than a place to exploit the two most important fissures within Islam, the ethnic (Kurds, as non-Arab Muslims obtaiing a state of their own, would surely inspire not only Berbers but others who resent the Arab supremacist ideology within Islam; battles between Sunnis and Shi'as, each side possibly aided from co-religionists outside Iraq, will do much to usefully unsettle and further the Muslim world in a way that would buy time for Infidels to study Islam, its theory and practice, so as to address the most pressing matter: the settling of large numbers of people behind what they regard as enemy lines, and their attempts to bend to their own will, in as many ways as possible, those people, those Infidels, among whom they have been, out of ignorance, naivete, and criminal negligence, been allowed to settle and to conduct, undisturbed, Da'wa, and to procreate, often on the dole of the Infidel state, out-breeding the locals at every turn.
Any explanatory model of what is happening in the world must be sure to include the data that Msulim behavior in Thailand provides, as well as all other such data. Jihad is not directed at Israel alone, though when the resources were slender, Israel was the earliest target of modern, post-World War II times, the Lesser Jihad. With the OPEC trillions, the mass migration of Muslims to Infidel lands, and the technological advances that spread the word of Islam even to the most remote villages -- the full message, the full and menacing message -- then the Jihad could be extended beyond Israel. Not just to America, as some would claim, only because America has been seen as Israel's main supporter. Nor just to Western Europe, because Western Europe is seen by Muslims as "Christian" even if many in that same West see themselves quite differently. No, while each manifestation local Jihad is part of the world-wide Jihad to spread Islam, the impulse behind Greater, and each of its constituent Lesser Jihads, comes out of the very same texts, the same passages in those texts, the same attitudes and atmospherics that those texts, and teachings of Islam, naturally give rise to. It is not Islam against only Israel, only America, only the "Christian" West. It is, as the Buddhist villagers in Thailand could testify, Islam Against All the Rest. It always has been. It has to be that way. That's what the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira teach. Nothing to be done. A little late to change those texts now.
The jihadists are blowing up and shooting (and in other articles, beheading) pacifist Buddhists?
Can anyone name a religion (including atheism) that is NOT under violent attack from Islam?
Either the entire world is conspiring against the poor defenseless Muslims who are just protecting themselves, or there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with Islam.
I know which ones the jihadists and their apologists believe. Too many of us infidels are not yet sure where the problem lies. It's still not quite clear enough, apparently.
Gotta read this one: 'His country is 'occupied by Thailand'- sez leader of the insurgency in a posh Jakarta hotel:

It may be time to consider moving all of the non-Muslims out of the southern, predominately Muslim provinces. Set up new borders, pull the plug on the existing infrastructure, and grant them independence. Then institute very strict border controls and immigration policies.
I realize that is rewarding bad behavior, but sometimes you have to cut your losses. And teach people to be very careful what they wish for.

They haven't, however, refused the Government aid and food that is handed out by the "occupying" Thai Government. I'm fully in favour of granting independence to these Jihadist enclaves and also building a heavily guarded wall round them so they can't get out to cause mischief, like Israel is doing. I wonder how long they'd last without all the freebies they're getting?
