Seventeen suspected fighters have pleaded not guilty to plotting an attack on the US military in Jordan and neighbouring Iraq.Some of the defendants told the opening session of their trial in Jordan's military court that they believed jihad "isn't a crime".
Standing in the dock to enter their pleas, they accused the Jordanian government of being an "infidel" and a "puppet" of the US.
The 17, all in custody, are charged with different counts, including conspiring to commit terrorism and attempting to harm Jordan's relations with a foreign country - a reference to Iraq, where the suspects allegedly planned to carry out operations against US forces, but did not manage to travel there.
Jihad is not a crime for Muslims. It is not a crime to fight against Infidels, whether in Iraq or in Beslan, in London or Madrid or Jerusalem or New York or southern Thailand or anywhere else. It is not a crime, but a duty imposed on Muslims, sometimes collective, and sometimes individual.
In their view it is not a crime but holy war. And that being the case, the Infidels on whom that Holy War was declared quite some time ago --according to the Official Version some 1350 years ago, though non-Muslims may date it a bit later -- should treat it not as a crime, with all the procedural guarantees that the system of crime-and-punishment (I'm trying to avoid the phrase "the criminal justice system") permits, but as an act of war, with considerably fewer such guarantees, and a lot more prompt dispatch in meting out justice, without giving defense lawyers a chance to insist that their clients insist (with a little twist, including a sex-change, to the verse) that "Yo soy un hombre sincero/De donde crecen las palmas/Yo soy un hombre sincero/De donde crecen las palmas" and that "Guantanamero, yo soy guantanamero."
No more Guantanamos! is a demand usually made in a spirit that one need not share, in order to utter the same demand. Save money, save time, save everything -- just quickly dispatch those even with a hint of a whisp of a glimmer of a connection to Jihad, or Jihad-sentiments, right back to dar al-Islam, whether they are wanted or not, there to be condemned to permanent existence in a Muslim state, full of Muslims, where one will have plenty of time to dwell on the differences between the Infidel lands where one managed for a while to live, and the Muslim lands to which one has been forced to return. It will help many Muslims, now living in the world of Infidels, to consider carefully their choices.
"Jihad is not a crime." From their own mouths: the reason why Islam and Muslims can not be part of the West and why attempting to plant the concept of freedom is the Muslim world is a futile effort.
Islam = Jihad. We will always be in danger as Jihad is perpetual and will not end until Islam is triumphant and we are either slaves or dead.
Well, if the defense works, why not.
