There may be perfectly good reasons to leave Iraq, as Hugh Fitzgerald has argued here on many occasions; however, it is unlikely that this coalition of dhimmi appeasers and fifth columnists has any of them in mind. "Tens of thousands set to march against Iraq war," from AFP, with thanks to Terminator:
LONDON (AFP) - Tens of thousands of people are expected to march in central London calling for an end to the US-led war in Iraq and for the return of British troops from the country.London's protest rally is being held to coincide with similar marches in Washington, Rome, Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki.
The Stop The War coalition, which organised the London rally jointly with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Muslim Association of Britain, said it expected at least 100,000 people to take part on Saturday.
Maybe if we are lucky, some of those nice Muslim Association of Britan members will have a home country flashback, and start firing weapons in the air in the streets of London, giving a taste to the average Londoner of what it must be like to live in Gaza. Either that or maybe there will be a weapons malfunction, which will scare even the Leftists.
Note to British police - be on the lookout for the flags of of the terror groups, Hamas, etc. and then question the flag bearers if they are in fact members of those groups.....
Well according to the BBC at 12.45 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4275542.stm "hundreds" of protestors are taking part. Not "tens of thousands" The route will take then up Whitehall and along Piccadilly before finishing in Hyde Park for a rally.
I wonder how many will stop off in Piccadilly and make a detour into Tower Records and then on to Carnaby Street and Libertys instead of seeing it through into Hyde Park.
Lindsey German, the woman described as one of the organisors, is a groupie of Gruesome Georgie Galloway who runs the Respect coven in Newham. I tend to get her and the suicide murderer Germaine Lindsay muddled. Strange that.
Granny W - maybe it's one of these pathetic little shuffles that passes for a march, like the one about six months ago by some whingeing Muslims that went about six yards and turned back.
Lindsey German and Germaine Lindsay - two sides of the same coin. Islamic terrorist and leftist terrorist enabler. A bad penny, this coin, and not one I'm keen to toss, pardon my French (German?).
The Times says " the scale of the protest was nowhere near that predicted by organisers nor that of earlier demonstrations against the British military presence. "
I can't give the link to that yet as it is still breaking news.
Hello Interested, our posts crossed.
Yes, that was the one where 100 people went from Marble Arch about 200 yards up the Edgware Road. Partly I think that the usual rent-a-mob are reluctant to go into London because they consider it too dangerous. Which is ironic really.
Which is ironic really.
Ironic doesn't even begin to cover it.
Shortly after the July bombings it was said that hundreds of thousands of Muslims were going to take to the streets in protest against the hijacking of their peaceful religion.
Must have missed that.
We have lots of those kinds of folks around here.
They rally around something they call the 'Peace Center', and their political guru is a guy who looks a lot like Santa Claus. These folks have shut down the main street with anti-Bush/Iraq war protests, and most recently held a week long demonstration on the highway overpass in sympathy with Cindy Sheehan. Candles at night, banners , the whole works. A sub group call themselves "The Women in Black", and line this same overpass with equally spaced women dressed in black, holding candles. A silent anti-war protest. This kind of rabid liberalism and Bush hating is common in liberal-land, whats significant about swamiland is that the total population is only about 2000. Not one of them has the faintest idea of the dangers of Islam and take the typical PC attitude toward that and everything else..There are conservatives here, but neither one of us go out in public, especially at night....
Must have missed that.
Yes, word on the street is that it happened on the afternoon of Friday 15th July at 3.15 pm with a march from Whitechapel underground station to Whitechapel Mosque. Silence was kept out of respect and protestors moved in small groups on the pavement so as not to disrupt the traffic.
Passers by were left wondering - Who was that masked woman?
Unfortunately, appeasing groups who refuse to listen to rational though doesn't work.
Frankly, a house divided against itself cannot stand. If we don't stand up and support ourselves, than the Jihad which swept across Arabia, Persia, Anatolia, and to the gates of Vienna will happen again.
Metropolitan Police guesstimate that no more than 10,000 were on this march in London. Al BBCeera sound a little disgruntled that such a small number turned out - particularly given that it is a Saturday, not a work day.
Certainly not the massive coverage, or turn out, I believe they were expecting.
As I cannot be arsed to get out a calculator & work out what percentage of the nation that is (assuming of course that all those attending are British, to a greater or lesser degree) I will leave it to everyone else to work out exactly what this says about the Left Wing / Muslim alliance in the UK, & their claim to represent a majority opinion.
Lets face it, if they had a majority of opinion, Princess Blair would not have been elected for "an historic third term".
Apologies - I am going to be a bore and repost an OT comment I made this morning as the debate at that thread didn't carry on as I thought it would, and thus I have doubts that the news item I linked to was seen.

I have been taking a particular interest in the court martial of the 7 paras currently on trial for the alleged murder of an Iraqi. I have already posted links to reports of the trial on JW over the last week or two. If you remember the evidence is flimsy to say the least. None of the villagers can identify the soldiers but this was the only British unit anywhere near the area. The body of the dead man was buried quickly (in accordance with usual custom considering the heat) and the family will not have him exhumed so that proper foresnic tests can be made. However, (and this is the bit which flabbergasted me, as it would never have lead to prosceution in a civilian court)the family provided a blood sample and a trace of blood on one mans rifle matched the general DNA of the family. In a culture which has practised first cousin marriage for centuries I would have thought that would have matched the entire province.
Anyway this item from The Times shows how much those witnesses who have travelled to England have been paid for their trouble, and how unreliable their evidence is.

Mrs Rishek went on to accept that she had pretended to have been beaten by the soldiers when interviewed by military police.
She told the court martial: “They did not injure me. They did not beat me.”
She agreed that she had pretended to a doctor that she had been injured by soldiers, but told the court that in telling lies it had not been her intention to obtain money.
Mr Tedd said: “Your word when you promised to tell the truth is worth nothing, is it?” She replied: “Correct.”
Oh, the BBC has changed it's tune. It's now "Several thousand protesters". The Times just said the the crowd had swelled by the time it reached Hyde Park.
You know, historically, it has never been hard to gather 100,000 of the usual suspects and march them from one point of London to another in support of the progressive cause of the day. When the organizers of this one made their forecast, they had pretty good reason to do so, and the collapse of the march - whether to a few hundred or to a few thousand - must be a terrible shock to them. I wonder whether it is a sign that the British hard left, for whatever reason, is falling out of love with Islam and beginning to feel unhappy about their allies.
Notice that these people have nothing whatever to say about Russia's ongoing and brutal war in Chechnya or Iran's involvement in Sudan's ugly ongoing ethnic cleansing which has taken millions of lives and shows no sign of stopping.
These protesters don't really seem to care much about world peace at all. Where were these protestors when Saddam Hussein was bombing Tel Aviv with scud missiles? What about the unceasing, 800 years-long war in the Balkans? Silence. Ditto for West Africa.
The message coming from these people seems to be: "Uncle Sam is a thug!! Let's get him!!"
