'Mohamed Atta' bomb threat forces Portland airport evacuation

Atta is, of course, quite dead. Those who would emulate him and who hold to his ideology are numerous. This note was however most likely just the work of some sociopathic prankster, and illustrates that terrorism's chief byproduct is just that: terror. From AP, with thanks to Cindy:

Portland, Maine: The Portland International Jetport was back to normal Wednesday following a late-night bomb threat purportedly signed by the ringleader of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The airport was evacuated Tuesday night and passengers arriving by plane were shuttled to a nearby hotel. The ensuing police search failed to turn up anything.

South Portland police received a hang-up 911 call shortly at about 9:30 p.m. that led them to a pay phone at a strip mall where they found a note signed by "Mohamed Atta" warning that the airport would be destroyed at 11 p.m., said Jeff Monroe, Portland's transportation director.

It only takes one hoax like this to make that dreaded word,[terrorism] work.

It only takes one city bus, or part of a mall or a movie theater on a Saturday afternoon, (of course, filled with kids) to have a [threat of], even a small bomb, or an actual bomb, you know, anything to get your attention.

Anyone listening yet? Maybe they need to write it on the bathroom wall!
