College students now have what are called "Facebooks" which offer them the photographs and some identifying information about all of their classmates.
Why not a "Terrorism Facebook"? It would include the photographs, where available, of every known participant in every major terrorist attack -- let's say, every attack resulting in the deaths of three or more people. One would have the names, the photographs (as close to the time of the attack as possible), and other pertinent information, such as, obviously, whether the person was Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Anabaptist, Mugwump, Muggletonian, Brownist, Flat-Enders (includig Laforgue for his "Le-monde-est-bien-plat" verse and Tom Friedman for his "The World is Flat" something worse), you name it, and oh yes, we almost forgot -- Muslims too.
Let's take a careful look at all those names and faces and backgrounds of those involved in terrorist acts.
Give that book to the Acting Governor, now in brief -- one hopes exceedingly brief -- authority, taking his little "leadership role" and making the most, by his lights, of it.
Distribute other copies around the state -- to members of the state legislature, editorial writers, columnists, television commentators. See if anyone sees any kind of a discernable common thread that might link those terrorists, and don't forget, of course, those who were arrested while still in the planning stages of terrorist acts, and convicted for that planning, or for supporting, in any number of ways, such acts.
Then ask Acting Governor Codey if he thinks that such a book offers a guide to the security services as to what to look for, and if so -- what.
That should end his self-righteousness, a self-righteousness which, after all, endangers those of us who do not share, but will suffer from, his desire to score points with Muslims, and with his own limited notion of what "should be" in this best and safest of all possible worlds.
And then vote him out, and remember how he saw fit to endanger your life and that of others, and make sure that Richard Codey never holds office again, in New Jersey or anywhere else, and whatever else he reverts to -- a law practice perhaps -- that that practice will suffer, and he be made an exemplary figure of how not to endanger us by overlooking the obvious.
