Debbie Schlussel draws attention to yet another exercise in Hollywood dhimmitude: an airplane-terror flick in which the terrorists are not the Muslims who are on the plane, but an air marshal and a flight attendant. Yes, this is what we have seen all over the world: crazed stewardesses storming cockpits and hijacking airplanes, demanding a respite from slinging chintzy pretzel packs at the sardine-packed passengers.
Meanwhile, we have yet to see a film that dramatizes the reality the world faces today, of convinced jihadist ideologues carefully planning and committing violence for their politico-religous goals.
It's been four years of bad news for flight attendants.First, 9/11 happened. Then, they were laid off. With airline bankruptcies like Northwest's, they are being laid off again.
Now, in another blow, the movie, "Flight Plan," is hitting theaters, tomorrow. Starring Jodie Foster, it's an outrageous piece of propaganda and incredible display of the irresponsible.
I'm embarrassed to say that a very distant cousin of mine--Charles J.D. Schlissel--is executive producer of this outrage. The J.D. must stand for "Just Despicable." If you're a freedom-loving American like me, the rotten tricks of this movie will disgust you.
If you want to sicken yourself and see "Flight Plan," stop reading here. But if you want to save ten bucks, keep going.
SPOILER ALERT
Throughout "Flight Plan," we are given hints--very strong hints--that four Muslim Arabs are the terrorists on the plane. But in the end--breaking a cardinal rule of thrillers--the hints have no pay-off.
Instead, the terrorists are the flight's air marshal and a flight attendant.
That is an outrage for a number of reasons. Two of those reasons are Betty Ong and Madeleine Amy Sweeney. Both were among the many flight attendants who gave their lives on 9/11.
They weren't terrorists. They were American heroes. Instead of calling their families to say good-bye, they contacted ground crews and identified the hijackers. It was because of them that authorities were able to identify Mohammad Atta and his 18 thugs as Al Qaeda.
Other flight attendants were brutally murdered by the hijackers, who slit their throats.
And now Jodie Foster and Charles J. D. Schlissel have the chutzpah to portray these low-paid workers as terrorists?!
Sickening.
And what was the reason for the air marshal and flight attendant to concoct the plot?
Don't worry about giving away the film's ending and spoiling it -- we want to spoil it. Yes we do. And we would also like to know, with all the real threats and threats-made-real, all over the Infidel world (anyone think of making a movie about Buddhist teachers and villagers getting their throats slit in an unnamed southeast Asian locale? Why not? What about villagers getting their throats slit in an unnamed locale that begins with "K" and ends with "mir" (come to think of it, good name for an Anglo-Russian upscale store -- "Cash-Mir")? Oh god, this could go on forever.
Tell us why they wanted to hijack the plane? To get back at the airline for cuttinig their pensions? To protest the American invasion of Iraq and show that it is silly to worry about Muslim terrorists because, after all, each of us is identically capable of becoming a terrorist as the most devout Muslim?
Tell me. I refuse to see the movie, so tell me now. And I've changed my mind. I don't want to hurt the movie. So just tell me, right here, on this site, what the complete plot is, and why the air marshal and the stewardess plotted, and I promise -- everyone at JW, and everyone they know promises -- not to tell anyone else.
Deal?
'Sickening'- is the only comment for this.
To boycott such a crappy flick is almost a duty.
But for the Hollywood-flip-flops to produce such an insult to the nation at this time is unforgivable.
Something that should come back to haunt them, better sooner than later...
C'mon, Hugh. The answer is obvious. They were Mossad agents trying to make the usual suspects look bad.
Hmm...I wonder how Jodie will look in a burqa?
It's just a movie folks. Go rent The Battle of Algiers and The Siege and have a double feature. Anyone else see the relevance of those two films?
Instead of boycotting the movie outright, simply spoil it for everyone. Boycotting a movie gives Hollywood a smug sense of persecution...and makes people want to go see what the hullaballoo is all about. Ridicule, however, is a weapon Hollywood can't defend itself against, even as it wields it against the rest of us. SO.... Let's just ruin it. Tell everyone you know in line while you are going to see another movie. Make fun of the movie, and urge those dolts who won't see the blasphemies who will like it. If you live through it, you may have saved someone several dozens of dollars, and it might be a new way to fight Hollywood.
Hollyweird has no relevance to my life, I dismissed them years, no decades ago.(Time does fly) I don't know the names of the current hot properties, I couldn't care less that "A" is screwing "B" and there are rumors that "B" left "C" for "A". Who gives a sh!t? Not I.
Do I care what this ones "crib" looks like? Do I care what that ones thoughtfully considered opinions on international affairs are? Do I watch "entertainment industry news and gossip" programs so that I can know "the latest". Do I keep up with those who start foundations for some pet social cause?
Hardly. Yeah, riiiight. Ummm, no. And no.
I am still amazed tho at those who's lives have no meaning without someone bearing a facade of importance to worship. I think this is an unrecognized danger in the fight against Islamofascism. Scary as it seems, there really are people out there who will absorb as truth anything that falls from the mouth of a celebrity. Why? Well, because they get paid to dress up and play make-believe. Let that soak in for a moment.
That's all the qualification some people need to hold someone up as an example, to turn to for direction, to find out what their own opinion is.
Make a movie and you are an oracle above reproach.
And therein lies the reason for all the crap. I imagine being adored mindlessly can be addicting and can also make even YOU believe your own B.S.
Aldous Huxley's "Island" has a passage where an islander explains that most of mankinds problems stem from "trying to be who you think you are, rather than who you really are".
Hollywood is just that, taken to extremes.
I'm sure that those involved in this movie exhausted themselves with selfcongratulations on how "clever" they all are, and how oh-so-poignantly "brave" they are.
It's not "just a movie". Images are power... the power to express for propaganda effect or to distract and obfuscate from the truth.
The communists and Nazi's knew this... so does the Hollywood left.
Certain elites both on left and right know this.
We should boycott this movie.
Here's the plot Hugh:
Nazis have infiltrated the auto industry. They scheme to build large scary-looking factories just outside major urban areas where lots of pitiful poor people who own just one car and one Flat screen TV, eke out a living. Sometimes out of sheer desperation and helplessness they're forced to indulge in "self-help humanitarian aid."
The Nazis and Neo-cons conspire to, with the help of low interest car loans, cause the poor to buy big gas guzzling, pollution spewing automobiles. The fumes from these big ostentatious Republican vehicles will radically alter the environment. Cataclysmic natural disasters will occur as a result of "NahNeCon" greed and avarice.
Hurricane and flood of biblical proportion will result and ultimately devastate these unwanted centers of urban blight and human suffering.
If the money grubbing conservative Capitalist have their way they'll rid the land of these human eyesores and build on it's smoldering remains, the massiveHalliburton International Centre for "THE NEW WORLD ODOR"
In the meantime the war mongering haters-of-peace have gone under cover as flight attendants and Federal Air Marshals. (the two main characters meet, fall in love, have sex in the bathroom, break up then resume the conspiracy...)
The hero of the film is Tracie ("Trey") Hutchinson: a bi-curious single mom, former food addict. She once tipped the scales at 429 lbs, 13 oz's. Eating filled the gaping void left by her distant, judgmental military Father. But with the selfless help of her gay best friend Chad, she now amazingly resembles Jodie Foster and sports a sexy six-pack.
Once on welfare she makes a modest living by teaching poor minority children how to properly put a rhyme together in order to become successful Rap artists. She brought up her teen-aged son, "Pax" single-handedly and with no help from the sperm donor.
Sorry, I don't want to give away the fabulous ending where good Socialist, peace-loving, non-judgmental moral equivalence triumphs and save the day...
And no-doubt, those four arab-muslim men are the good guys, and save the day. Holywood moral: profiling is evil. Grandma in her wheelchair and that friendly looking blue-eyed co-pilot are more likely to wish you harm than those scruffy-looking arab-muslim men.
Ok, now I'm feeling educated. Jodie and her pals set my mind right.
Thanks for the chuckle Kemaste. Nicely done.
I don't think we need worry too much. Can anyone remember the last good Jodie Foster movie? I can't - she has a record for stinkeroos that makes Gwynneth Paltrow look brilliant. And can anyone remember the last Foster movie that was a hit? Me neither. This is just further evidence of Hollywood's ability to waste money and still manage to get away with it. Any other industry with that kind of track record would have seen all its top officers replaced by raging stockholders long ago. I am beginning to believe the old story that Hollywood tycoons used to send the likes of Betty Grable to "entertain" rich, elderly, ugly Texan backers; that is the only credible explanation why the people who made King Arthur and Planet of the Apes are not yet on a breadline. (About Planet of the Apes, what genius ever thought that anyone wanted to pay to see Helena Bonham-Cuter in an ape mask?)
I confess to being a watcher of a lot of American TV shows. I can tell you, from watching my favorite TV dramas -- NYPD Blue, Third Watch, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit), Without a Trace, and Cold Case -- that all of these shows since 9/11/01 have featured at least one if not more plots about Muslims being suspected of terrorism only to be discovered by the end of the show to be innocent victims of over-zealous law enforcement personnel.
This is not to count that most outrageously egregious and far more (in)famous show, 24, which, while offering the American public over the span of an arc of two entire seasons the juicy crumb of actually showing a Muslim terrorist cell in the US plotting mass destruction, had to bury that crumb in a mass of preposterous details -- some cleverly subliminal (having blatantly non-ethnically-accented Muslim actors play the Muslim terrorists, such as the arch-terrorist played by a South African actor of Dutch (Afrikaner) extraction); others more overt, such as using blatantly Anglo actors (a young blonde babe, a freckle-faced redheaded Air Force pilot, an obviously fully American brunette) to play evil co-conspirators with the Muslims; or having members of law enforcement (including a renegade team composed of ex-military Anglos bent on stealing Caspian oil [!] and members of the President's cabinet being part of some evil nefarious plot that dovetails with the terrorist designs). We starving jihadwatchers had to content ourselves, like hungry puppies under the table as we watched 24, with at least seeing scenes that no Western TV show or movie has otherwise dared to show, such as a Muslim man and wife commit cold-blooded murder of an innocent, nosy neighbor in order to further along their overarching role in the plot to destroy Los Angeles; or an obviously ethnically Middle Eastern professor who seems "moderate" actually being a fully cognizant co-conspirator with the Muslim terrorists. Still, as we know, the FOX network had to bow down to CAIR and eliminate many other scenes which probably were juicier in terms of accuracy.
Only two American TV dramas -- JAG and NCIS (both far less popular than the aforementioned) have actually had plots featuring guilty Muslim terrorists with little compromising counter-details. However, even NCIS (perhaps out of a desire to be "impartial") has otherwise featured a long-running plot that arcs over several shows featuring an evil terrorist who is an Israeli Mossad agent acting as a double-agent in Hamas, his twisted logic being that only by becoming evil and doing evil terrorist acts can he effectively infiltrate Hamas and be embraced by them as a true fellow terrorist: how many of those have we seen in the news? Answer: None.
Um, people? Take a deeeep breath. It's a movie, not a documentary. It's not a news story. It's not an exposeƩ (oops, that's not French, is it?) It's a movie. It's a story--a fictional story--put to film.
I'm not one to jump on the "poor, longsuffering, misrepresented-in-Hollywood Muslims" bandwagon, but I distinctly remember seeing some kind of airplane thriller with Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, and Halle Barry on a plane fighting Muslim terrorists intent upon crashing a plane and releasing some kind of germs or bomb or somesuch.
That too was a fictional story set to film.
This is the logical outcome of a culture driven to extremes by the likes of Rush Limbaugh: every--I mean EVERY--time a movie depicts a bad Muslim, there will be cries of "racism", ignorance of Islam, etc. And conversely every time a movie depicts a good Muslim (?) there will come the cry and hue of "elitist Hollywood lib'ruls" (or as Charlie Daniels like to say, "Mugwumps") trying to gloss over the truth about Islam and portray good Americans as the real enemy.
And just imagine... some intelligent people actually let themselves get sucked into the fray.
LOL... I remember my days in college... the MSA would say that Hollywood was against Islam and their precious prophet because Robin Williams sings in "Aladdin's Lamp" that he "...come[s] from a magical place, where they cut off your nose if they don't like your face."
Funny... I also remember (the Jewish Steven Spielberg's) "Indiana Jones" showing Indy flying over a map of the world with a nation called "Palestine" and being rescued from would-be-assassins by his Muslim buddy sending in his 10 or so kids screaming "Uncle Indy! Uncle Indy! Come with us! Come with us!" and dragging him to safety. Explains the friend: "Those men are Muslims. They would never hurt a child." Hooo boy. Okay then. My my, how things have changed.
But, just like Herr Goerring said: tell the people that they are under attack and excoriate anyone that dares to say otherwise, and the people will always go along with a war. It works the same in Communism, socialism, and democracy.....looks like it also works with religions too, eh CAIR, MSA? Their incessant pretense at being under attack, held down, pre-judged in ignorance, and victimized by Zionists intent upon taking over the world certainly has paid off for them.
**************************
And can anyone remember the last Foster movie that was a hit? Me neither.
Aaah, the old one-sided debate. Works like a charm. Must be a graduate of the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Republican Studies, eh?
Hey, um, Mr. Hollywood stinkeroo expert... ever heard of an obscure, little-known film called--let's see, what was it now? oh yeah--"Silence of the Lambs"?
As of around five years ago the "has-been" Jodie Foster was sooo rich that she turned down the lead role in "Hannibal" (Silence of the Lambs, part two. Or was it three, with Red Dragon being number two? Anyway, I may not have the dates right, but they're pretty close.)
Yes. She actually turned down the chance to act again as FBI Agent Clarese Starling.
Take off the diaper, get your big boy skivvies on and get over it: Foster, like most actors, makes enough money with even one or two decent-by-Hollywood standards hits to spend an entire life at ease. If she has a decent agent and a investment manger, Foster probably made enough money with "Taxi Driver" and "Nell" to live the rest of her life.
I don't like it either, but that's the way it is. If you don't like her, don't see her movies. Let "market forces" decide who is popular, who gets the mansion in Beverly Hills, and who has to leave the industry and run for office as an "outsider". ("Terminator Three" tanked at the box office, and "The End of Days" was nicknamed "The End of Arnold".)
I've never heard Foster spout of her political views, unlike some other Hollywood elites. You know the type: Mel Gibson, Charlton Heston, Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Delta Burke, Bruce Willis, Fred Thompson, Slyvester Stallone, Bo Derek, Shannon Dougherty, etc. Don't you just hate it when these Hollywood types tell US how WE should vote?
I won't presume to answer for you.
kj
1) The reactions of pundits should not determine what fiction is created by artists.
2) There are FAR more movies and TV shows that show innocent Muslims either being wrongly accused, or being token nice characters in the context of non-Muslim terrorists. At least it should be roughly 50/50. It's not -- not by a LONG shot.
3) Only two major Hollywood movies have dealt directly with Muslim terrorism -- both were made before 2001: Executive Decision (which you cited, with Kurt Russell) made in 1996; and The Siege (with Denzel Washington) made in 1998. Those two movies could not be made now without considerable whitewashing of the Muslim factor in the plot and characters.
4) The number of movies that don't even deal with terrorism at all FAR outweighs other themes, which, at this date 4 years after 911 not to mention the many other Muslim terrorist incidents since then, is a strange absence in Hollywood and American TV.
5) Movies and TV shows are not negligible cultural influences; they have an important degree of influence, mostly subtle. In the last 25 years, Hollywood movies and American TV shows have relentlessly depicted the most evil characters to be silver-haired Anglo-Saxon businessmen, political leaders and police chiefs. That has to contribute, to some degree, to the amorphous general feeling out there that the people in charge -- the rich old white people -- are mostly, at bottom, evil and corrupt and controlling everything and causing most of the suffering in the world.

Exactly. And this `decadency` is then viewed by the muslim in a hovel in some muslim country, who though `divinely` decadent, sees the loot available in Dallas and his eyes glitter.
You can plainly see that IMDb (International Movie Database) is censoring any comments deemed against the Ministry of Thought's policy of white-washing Islam and Moslems from their comments section for this flick.
Why not leave a comment to let them know how you feel?
IMDB
Attempting to comprehend this Helter-Skelter world the 1960 hippies gave us- Modern Hollywood, the beautiful multicultural, liberal, politically correct and morally equivalent drones of inwardly rotted America, truly is despair inducing.
Of course an actress widely believed to be a lesbian, raised by a bi-sexual mother and her lover, would relate to the perceived "discrimination" she imagines Moslems must be enduring. After all, if true, she surely must feel the same way as a minority and can "feel their pain."
Never mind the fact the Moslems, if they wielded power, would bury her and her "partner" to their necks and stone them.
Yet Jodi Foster agrees to star in a movie so perverted and twisted, essentially spitting in the faces of those on 9-11 Who Were ON THOSE PLANES, while stereotyping Moslems not as they are, but as poor little victims.
This is a perfect example of Western sentiments projected onto a devious and dangerous minority, (Moslems) an alter-civilization so opposite and intrinsic to ours that they want us all dead and will not rest until we are all converted.
Yet all we can now do in our brainwashed La-La-Land state, is regurgitate the empty, intellectually dishonest mantras of multiculturalism, diversity and non-judgementalism unto our death with our artists, politicians, and clergyman leading the way off the cliff.
Talking about TV shows...
Anti Dhimmitude on Fox' "House M.D."
This week's show was about a little girl dying of cancer. the main character, Dr. House, played by the hilarious Hugh Laurie describes a cancer-related clot behinf the eye of the patient and its relation to the tumour on her heart... paraphrased from memory:
Dr. House (Dr. H): "It's like the heart tumour is Afghanistan and the head clot is Buffalo."
Another character (AC): "What do you mean?"
Dr. H: "It's like the heart tumour is Al Qaeda"
AC:"I don't understand!"
Dr. H:" It's like the heart is Al Qaeda: it has been weakened, but it has an independent splinter cell in Buffalo in the United States. We need to get to that clot before it straps a vest on and blows itself up."
Priceless. I'm wondering whther the ninnies at CAIR and AAADC (the Anti-American Arab Defamation Committee, oops, I mean, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee) have noticed and are throwing a hissy fit...
the most evil characters to be silver-haired Anglo-Saxon businessmen, political leaders and police chiefs
and who are frequently played by British actors. Which I feel is another piece of subtle discrimination in itself.
I don't watch House but I believe that Hugh Laurie plays the part with a local accent. At least he is still managing to say unexpected things in a endearing manner.
Wow, Jsingleton -- are you serious? If those lines were really in House, I'm amazed they got past the PC Police. At any rate, such lines are too few and far between in our pop mythology (aka Hollywood and TV, let alone novels).
Wow Jsingleton -- I can't believe those lines were in House. You weren't kidding were you? At any rate, those kind of lines are far too few and far between in our current pop mythology.
KJ: thanks for proving my point. Exactly how many years ago was THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS? Quite a few, sonny. If that is her last hit or critically acclaimed movie you can think of, you should have the kindness not to adopt such an aggressive tone. And as for her ability to pick winners, I cannot improve on the fact, which you rightly bring out, that she refused to come back to her most successful role ever. I repeat: even Gwynneth Paltrow has a better eye for a project.
Can anyone remember the last good Jodie Foster movie?
'The Accused'? 'Silence of the Lambs'? Admittedly a long time ago.
Is there something about the acting profession - film actors anyway - that predisposes to dhimmitude and soft left moonbattery? Or do these ideas just seep into their pretty little heads because nature abhors a vacuum?
Granny W:
the most evil characters ...are frequently played by British actors. Which I feel is another piece of subtle discrimination in itself.
Aha, but we got our own back for all time with the American couple in the Fawlty Towers 'Waldorf Salad' episode.
Dr. Pepper,
The transcrips of House MD are posted on http://www.twiztv.com/scripts/house/
This weeks' episode("Autopsy") transcript has not yet been posted, but wait for it (about a week) and do a word search...
In spite of Foster, this movie will never rise above z grade. When it gets to the $1.00 rack I will rent it for laughs. I liked her movie 'Contact' but not necessarily because of her.
Paolo:
Aggressive tones are the only ones kj every uses.
I can remember emerging from a theatre after seeing a Jody Foster movie made in the UK about 5 or 6 years ago, when a friend with a fairly wry wit observed, "Strapless? Shoulda called that one Scriptless."
While boycotting this weird, moronic, yet insidious film, why not try to rent or buy films that show the Muslim-dhimmi relationship in a more realistic manner? Try to see He Who Must Die [directed by Jules Dassin], Justine [dir. George Cukor], America, America [dir. Elia Kazan]. These are all good films that have been unjustly neglected over the years, even though made by famous, respected, and talented directors. Why not ask the pro-Islam gang in Hollywood why all of these films have been neglected? Maybe that could be Debbie Schlussel's next project. If these films are not available on video cassette or DVD, ask why not. Find out why they have been neglected and who made the decision.
kj~ Don't forget people like Ed Assner, Adam Bulkwin, Bette Meddler, the Neville (Chamberlain) Brothers (two of the few Rappers not yet shot at by their peers, so far as I know...) and a host of others who need to go into hysterics over racism or imperialism on a daily basis.
Oh btw! I see the Bush weather machine has turned Rita back towards NO. Must be out to finish the job against the poor and oppressed there, eh?
Off for the weekend, take care all!
We suspect that this film's title actually refers to the audience's reaction to the film fifteen minutes or so into it....
This movie could have been retitled "Bombs Away." Or is that now politically incorrect?
Aha, but we got our own back for all time with the American couple in the Fawlty Towers 'Waldorf Salad' episode.
Good point. Strange how we were reminiscing about Fawlty Towers at work only this morning. BTW, Interested, there is a link on JW to a Julie Birchell article. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/628498.html
She repeats a Sharia Mirza joke which you might like, if you have not already heard it.
Strange, y'know, Hollywood had no trouble victimizing the Russians/Commies, for what... 40 years?
OK, in essence I don't have a problem with a negative portrayal of a negative political system, nevertheless, the media assault was relentless: America must have spent billions on a thousand Commie bashing films, from about 1950 to 1990.
Communists never actually killed a single American on American soil, and when Communists killed American citizens, it was because they had gone to foreign lands with a view to killing these selfsame Communists. So all was fair in love and war.
Now, as for that other atrocious political system: Islam; all the Americans have been doing is pumping foreign aid into Muslim lands and trying to aid democratic reform. Its reward: 9/11. If anything there is far more reason for America to vilify Islam than Communism - and yet its mighty (and highly influential) film industry praises this ravenous beast, whereas it gleefully attacked Socialism.
KJ - some of your posts have been excellent, but you have really let yourself down this time. So, you are trying to tell me that an intelligent man like you does not understand the propaganda value of films? The subliminal messages they carry which millions of viewers absorb and the social conditioning therein?
The answer to this riddle is obvious: BIG BUSINESS. Socialism was a threat to BIG BUSINESS, so Hollywood was given carte blanche to attack it. As a petroleum based economy, the Arabs are vital to Industrialists and multi-nationals, so Hollywood gets muzzled when it comes to attacking Muslims.
You don't believe me? You don't believe that US business ever deals in propaganda to the masses?
Look, Hollywood movies can cost 8 or 9 figures to make. Who controls that much capital if its not Industrialists and multi-nationals?
You people can't see the wood for the trees, or wot?
Timbo~ one can also point out that, when Hollywood was making patriotic movies in the 40s, it was often the very people who were later blacklisted that were turned to for making those movies.
...because they had a better sense of what Made a patriotic movie... a bit ironic, no? Nowadays we get hysterical trash like 'The Day After Tomorrow'...

Another piece of unadulterated crap made by a mossie is:
The Rising' tells the tale of a heroic sepoy who spearheaded the movement that later became the struggle for Indian freedom from the colonial British.
http://www.apunkachoice.com/movies/mov350/the_rising-preview.html
The Indian Mutiny was in reality a dead cat bounce effort by the muslims to re-assert their islamic empire. So they spread a rumor that the bullets were either pork/beef greased.
If this had been true, the Sikh and Pathan troops would never have joined the British in putting down the Bengalis who were the main perpetrators on the other side.
There was no mutiny in the South, Punjab nor Afghanistan. So what bloody history is being taught?
