Syrian Deputy Minister of Religious Endowments, Muhammad Abd Al-Sattar Al-Sayyid: AIDS Patients Should Be Stoned before Spreading Their Disease

Yet another example of the hollowness of the Left's pet moral equivalency arguments between Christian and Muslim "fundamentalists": no Christian leaders are calling for anything remotely like this. This is something that comes from Islam, and indicates one key aspect of this present clash of civilizations. From MEMRITV, with thanks to all who sent this in:

The following are excerpts from an interview with the Syrian deputy minister of religious endowments, Muhammad Abd Al-Sattar Al-Sayyid, which aired on Syrian TV on August 30, 2005

Al-Sayyid: All the diseases that have to do with sexual organs, mainly AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, and so on... When these diseases appeared, they killed millions. More people were killed by these diseases than by wars. The only reason for this is the straying from the divine way regarding fornication, and when I say fornication - "Do not even approach abomination" – this means fornication, homosexuality, and all the sexual deviation it entails.

Host: Everything that has to do with abominations.

Al-Sayyid: "Do not even approach abomination, surely it is a foul thing and an evil way." When Islam set the punishment (for fornication)...

[...]This is why there's a hidden desire in one's heart... If only we had stoned everyone who had committed this abomination – wouldn't it have been better than letting these diseases infect others, spreading to millions around the world?

Host: Most certainly.

Al-Sayyid: Most certainly. The entire world, from the US to the most distant country, acknowledges that if they had stoned the fornicators, and prevented abomination, things would have been much better.

This is the world they want.

Why do our leaders pretend there is tolerance in Islam? The value of human life is so low in Islam. The Muslim apologists, as always, will provide cover for the truth.

Would this Deputy Minister have stoned Yassir Arafat?According to recent reports an analysis of Arafat's medical records showed he died from either AIDS or poisoning.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

WE WON ONE!

McGuinty rejects Sharia law

Ontario will not become the first Western jurisdiction to allow the use of a set of centuries’ old religious rules called Sharia law to settle Muslim family disputes, and will ban all religious arbitrations in the province, Premier Dalton McGuinty told The Canadian Press on Sunday.
In a telephone interview with the national news agency, McGuinty announced his government would move quickly to outlaw existing religious tribunals used for years by Christians and Jews under Ontario’s Arbitration Act.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that the debate has gone on long enough,” he said.

“There will be no Sharia law in Ontario. There will be no religious arbitration in Ontario. There will be one law for all Ontarians.”

McGuinty said religious arbitrations “threaten our common ground,” and promised his Liberal government would introduce legislation “as soon as possible” to outlaw them in Ontario.

“Ontarians will always have the right to seek advice from anyone in matters of family law, including religious advice,” he said. ``But no longer will religious arbitration be deciding matters of family law.”

Last December, a report from former NDP attorney general Marion Boyd recommended the province allow and regulate Sharia arbitrations much the same way it does Christian and Jewish tribunals, setting off a firestorm of protests.

Homa Arjomand, the women’s rights activist who organized a series of protests across Canada and Europe last Thursday to convince McGuinty to abandon Sharia, was elated when she heard the news late Sunday.

“I think our voice got heard loud and clear, and I thank the government for coming out with no faith-based arbitrations,” said Arjomand. “Oh, I am so happy. That was the best news I have ever heard for the past five years.”

However, despite calling for an end to all religious arbitrations, Ontario’s New Democrats were not happy with the way McGuinty handled the Sharia debate.

“By merely sitting on the issue, and by hiding his head in the sand, McGuinty allowed the debate to in fact fester and grow pretty ugly,” said NDP justice critic Peter Kormos. “That was not helpful to anything in this multicultural community of ours.”

Currently, Ontario’s Arbitration Act allows civil disputes ranging from custody and support to divorce and inheritance to be resolved through an independent arbitrator, if both parties agree.

Catholics, Mennonites, Jews, aboriginals and Jehovah’s Witnesses, among others, have — until now — used the act to settle family law questions without resorting to the courts.

But those who opposed permitting Sharia family arbitration argued that the reforms would give legitimacy and an unenforceable appearance of oversight to a legal code they say is — at its heart — unfair to women.

McGuinty said the debate around Sharia gave his government time to “step back a little bit” and look at the original decision to allow religious arbitrations in Ontario.

“It became pretty clear that was not in keeping with the desire of Ontarians to build on common ground … of one law for all Ontarians,” he said.

The premier said his wife Terri had not raised the Sharia law issue with him during the lengthy debate, but noted the 17 women in his Liberal caucus urged him to reject the idea.

Just hours before McGuinty’s announcement, a group including author Margaret Atwood, activist Maude Barlow, writer June Callwood and actresses Shirley Douglas and Sonja Smits issued an open letter to the premier on behalf of the No Religious Arbitration Coalition.

During last Thursday’s protests, angry demonstrators outside the Ontario legislature likened McGuinty to Afghanistan’s former extremist Taliban leaders for even considering Sharia.

Speakers in Toronto called McGuinty naive for saying women’s rights would not be trampled if Ontario allowed Sharia, while 100 people braved the rain in Montreal to protest the use of Sharia law in Ontario. Similar rallies were held in Ottawa and Victoria, while smaller protests were held in London, Amsterdam, Paris and Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Muslim Canadian Congress, which supported the regulation of Sharia law under Ontario’s Arbitration Act, was not immediately available to comment Sunday on McGuinty’s surprise announcement.

This is a particularly disgusting article for me as one of my best friends has been suffering from AIDS for the past 15 years. Admittedly he is gay and one could say he bought it on himself but that is no reason to deny him treatment. I can't help liking my friend and wanting him to get better despite his gay "escapades." Similarly, if a friend or relative had a condition that was brought on by something "self inflicted" I wouldn't deny them the right to treatment but I would try to educate people better. That is the difference between us in the West and the Islamists.

As you so rightly say, the hollowness of the Left and their unholy Alliance with Islam is particularly exposed on these occassions.

Very few of us here as readers at Jihad Watch will ever move beyond the cvonfines of our keyboards. I think it's time for us to face the fact that most people here are not capable of active resistence to the fascist poligion that is Islam. Writing letters is the best most can do. I find that an unfortunate discovery. However, moving on from that, let those of us who are active in our lives move on from the struggle to stop sharia in Ontario to pushing back Islam from the West by assisting our homosexual compatriots in their life and death struggle against Islam. Let the letter writers write, and let the rest of us organize, gathering allies where we may.

Whether one is homosexual or philatelic or anything else legal and yet still outside the mainstream of usual living, everyone has a right to live his or her own life in privacy. I say let's do what we can with all people who are under threat from Islam. I don't care who they are, nor what they do.

We need an army of citizens to resist Islam. Few will join it. Many of those who do will be cooks and clerks. This army must include homosexuals. This army cannot dismiss women from the front lines. This army must include even philatelists, regardless.

We must make an army of ourselves.

Smash the crescent.

if they had stoned the fornicators, and prevented abomination, things would have been much better

starting with mohammed

Where is the do-gooding Left in all of this??? So the Conservatives who are not for homosexuality are "homophobes", yet Islam can stone those with HIV????

I don't agree with homosexuality as a Christian (and that's MY right in a democracy), but this decree from the mufti/mulla is disgusting. What is even more disgusting is the Left's tolerance of Islam. Killing people for their disease is sick.

As Muslims believe the Bible is corrupt, I can only assume by their actions that they believe the priciple of "love the sinner and hate the sin" is corrupt also.

Islam is pure evil. This decree comming from somebody who follows a man, Mohammed, who had sex with a nine year old. And this Mufti then has the hide to make moral judgements??

Im all for preventing abominations, Sayyid, When do we start closing mosques?

Mentat:

That's great news. I'm proud of my attendance at last week's rally at Queen's Park. I stated that the majority of attendees were middle age women who would in all liklihood be one of McGuinty's core constituencies. I thought this would get his attention. Many thanks to the organizers and all who spoke out at the rally against this abomination.

I'm with Sonofwalker,
we must make an army of ourselves.
Smash the crescent.
As in pre WW2, the 1930's, the longer we wait before we face the enemy, the bigger the battle, the higher the cost in casualties.
And like the '30s, our leaders are playing in their sandboxes while the enemy moves ahead; it is up to us to wake those leaders up.
There will be an election in Canada soon; where is the 'stop muslim immigration now' party ?

Well done Ontario for forbidding sharia tribunals.

The University of Toronto is now giving courses on sharia, in its law faculty i believe.
I mention that, so all those requested to donate to the U of T, understand that the university obviously has money to burn, or waste, on utter garbage. Thus, do not give money to the U of T, not to any faculty, and tell them why.

Okay, here's some helpful info for the ignorant muslim jihadi clerics worldwide:

1. AIDS can be contrated in ways other than intercourse: blood transfusions, intravenous drug abuse,

2. Intercourse could be forced, especially on women and young children (think how many "Palestinian" kids were infected by the old pedophile Arafat), but then again, we know that in muslim society women and children are treated worse than dogs, murdered for the sins of rapist males to protect the "honor" of the family.

What a depraved, disgusting society, practicing a depraved, disgusting religion.

What nobody seems to have noticed is that this charmer speaks for the Baathist, "socialist," "secular" government of Syria, a country that spent most of its history under Soviet "protection". So much for the civilizing effect of Arab secularism.

Do not be critical of Canada. McGuinty has come up with a brilliant politically correct way to stop Islam. Ban all religions! This way Moslem sensibilities to being banned will not be slighted.

They didn't stone Yassir Arafat did they?

Stoning. Perfect.

Blood spurting. Covering the ground. Spraying on the arms and faces of the stone throwers.

Hey, makes sense. If you have a 7th century perception of science and medicine.

MEMRI's headline is misleading. I believe this Syrian religious leader is wishing all fornicators and sodomizers were stoned, regardless of their health. ("If only we had stoned everyone who had committed this abomination," he says).

The host, a Middle Eastern version of Larry King, cheerfully agrees.

In the U.S. we surely have a few nutcases who agree with them (there are nuts who think cannibalism should be legal and and others who think man/boy love should be allowed). But the Syrians in question are 1)a figure on a national T.V. broadcast and 2)a relatively highly placed government official. What on earth do Syrian nutcases say that would sound extreme to public mouthpieces?

Ironically, the Arab [and Muslim] world has long had a high rate of homosexuality, the main reason seems to have been the seclusion of women, the ban on a woman from even talking with a male person who is not a close relative [marriages being arranged, etc.]. So the Syrian cleric's fire and brimstone about AIDS patients may cover his own activities.

John Roy Carlson, the respected American journalist of the 1930s and 1940s, wrote of the common homosexual relationships among the Egyptian volunteers fighting against Israel in the War of Independence, and of other Arabs. His account is in Cairo to Damascus, a very informative book about the 1948 war and the Arab world, etc. He himself was born to Armenian refugees from Muslim persecution in the Ottoman empire.
As for Arafat, he was a notorious pederast. I once saw him in a TV news film embracing a boy of about 12. Arafat was smiling but the boy was not. His marriage to Suha was a very queer bird in its own right. But his death seems due solely to AIDS, not to "poisoning," the usual PLO/Arab excuse. His Arab doctors released info shortly before his death last year about a low red blood cell count, a high white cell count, and other symptoms which together pointed to AIDS. [Ion Pacepa, a former Rumanian secret police official, described in a book, Arafat's homosexual activities while visiting Ceausescu]
For a graphic picture of Muslim pederasty, see the opening scenes of Jules Dassin's film, He Who Must Die [also in Kazantzakis' book].
