A major development in Iraq. From FoxNews, with thanks to Ron:
WASHINGTON — U.S. Special Forces killed Al Qaeda's No. 2 terror mastermind in Iraq, Defense Department officials said.FOX News has confirmed that Abu Azzam, who was believed to have been in charge of the financing of terrorist cells in the war-torn country, was killed during a raid in Baghdad early Monday morning Iraq time. Azzam is thought to be the top deputy to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Iraq's most wanted terrorist.
You culturally-insensitive Islamophobes!
How can you glorify the martyrdom of a man who has given so much to equality and dignity for his Ummah?
Why are there so many number 2 men? Seems to me every week we hear the number 2 man has been killed or captured. I don't think I would like having the number 2 job in this organization.
DEBKAfile: The Abu Azzam reported killed in Baghdad is not Zarqawi’s most notorious senior lieutenant
September 27, 2005, 11:34 AM (GMT+02:00)
DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources strongly doubt that the man reported dead is in fact the Abu Azzam believed in charge of financing and arranging the movement of foreign fighters into western Iraq from Syria and other countries. His death has in fact not been officially announced.
On March 19, coalition forces announced his capture in Baghdad. it was reported in DEBKA-Net-Weekly in the same week. He was then commanding Abu Musab al Zarqawi’s forces in the capital. Since then, according to our information, he has been held and interrogated by US forces.
The dog of Islam is either at your feet or at your throat.
Killing this murderous Islamic bastard has to be measured with the peace overtures of Prince Abdullah of Jordan (why isn't he taking in "palestineans" from the festering camps ?), or the those of Musharrif (why is his secret service supporting Osama, Zawahiri ?).
Islam is the enemy. So is C.A.I.R. So is Prince Turki handing out petrodollars in Washington, So is Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal buying big buck influence in the mainstreammedia (now Fox), the appeasers and self hating Jews at the NYTimes and the Fifth Column leftists at home.
We can win this one. Keep your powder dry.

Abu Azzam was killed early Sunday when U.S. and Iraqi forces raided a high-rise apartment building in Baghdad, Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, a U.S. military spokesman, told the AP.
On the BBC, the Defense Minister of Iraq, Mr. Al-Rubaie, insists quite convincingly that the entire operation was the work of Iraqis. Yet the Defense Department tells us that it was the work of American Special Forces.
Could it be that the Iraqi Defense Minister, our close and loyal and permanent ally, would lie about such a thing? No, it is not. It must, therefore be the Defense Department that is lying. Those Americans are always trying to claim credit for Iraqi feats of derring-do.
Don't you agree?
On the BBC this morning , the National Security Adviser in the Iraqi government, Mowaffak Al-Rubaie, insisted quite convincingly that the killing of Abu Azzam was the work of Iraqis. Yet the Defense Department tells us that American Special Forces were responsible.
Is it conceivable that the Iraqi National Security Advsiser, presumably our close and loyal and permanent ally, would lie so brazenly about such a thing on the BBC World Service? No, it is not. It must, therefore be the Defense Department of the United State that is lying. Americans are always trying to claim credit for Iraqi feats of derring-do.
Don't you agree?
quote: "why are there so many number two men? i keep hearing about them getting killed or captured" well, it seems to me you answered your own question. Zarqi aint in iraq, very often these days. since his near miss, hes a bit reticent to stand and risk his own cowardly neck. a lot easier to gamble someone elses life. like, say, your number two man's neck. and yeah. if you keep killing his number two man, well SOMEBODY has to step up and fill in teh void, right? the fact you keep hearing about them getting their grapes exploded but multiple 5.56 rounds or caught alive should tell you something. and the message is positive.
eff
What difference does it make whether the killing of Abu Azzam was by the Iraqis or by the US Special forces? As far as I am concerned I am just happy that we got rid of one more rabid jehadist. One down and another million more to go!!!
