Tiny minority of extremists update from the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
Thousands of Palestinians took to the streets of Kabatiya, south of Jenin, Wednesday night to celebrate the suicide bombing in Hadera, which was carried out by local resident Hassan Abu Zeid.Chanting Allahu Akbar (God is great), some 3,000 people, including Fatah and Islamic Jihad gunmen, converged on Abu Zeid's home to "congratulate" his family on the success of the attack, which killed five people and wounded more than 30.
They also called for more suicide attacks in Israel.
"With blood, with soul, we redeem Hassan," the crowd chanted. "Oh Jihad, Jihad, give us more [suicide] bombings. Oh [Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon, prepare more coffins."
The Israeli's sign away their land in their fight against "terror" (aka Islam) and for what??? This??
In the US, UK, and Australia we sign away our civil rights (especially Australia).
Is it really all worth the 'cover up', to keep on keeping on the Religion of Peace as a 'legitimate' "religion"?
The blood of all those who have died, from Bali, to India, to Israel, to Africa, is NOT on the hands on the suicide bombers - the bombers are honest in their intention. Rather it is on the hands of our politicians who continually tell us that there can be peace with Islam, while we are being blown to bits, murdered and raped in our streets.
Israel gave up that cesspool of Gaza. I think they can certainly keep that self feeding prison camp under control, when it shoots they have a free fire zone around the shooters. All that Sharon has really given up in the West Bank, is other self-feeding prison camps. There is no way that they are going to give up Jerusalem. They still have a temple to rebuild.
The Israelies have almost taken the gloves off now, and they have made the IJ leadership (that which remains) squeal for a "truce". Nobody in their right mind expects them to honor to it, and the Israelies will generate more carswarms.
This cycle will continue until the palistinians settle down and start killing each other. When that particular smoke clears, the remainder may just be ready to try peace.
In major counter-terror operation on West Bank, a special Israeli unit killed the two Jihad Islami instigators of the suicide bombing in Hadera Wednesday Oct. 26 in which five Israelis died
October 31, 2005, 8:29 AM (GMT+02:00)
Israeli forces began encircling the Jihad hideout in Qabatya near Jenin Sunday night, Oct. 30. Jihad Awidath and Arashdan Kemal were killed in the firefight that raged until Monday morning, after several inmates of the house came out holding white flags. A second terrorist team laying bombing devices was also engaged in another part of town. One was killed. Israeli unit suffered no casualties.
My prediction for the Israeli game plan:
1. Finish the "fence" between the West Bank and Israel.
2. Declare it a border.
3. Recognize East and West Palestine (formerly known as Gaza) as nation-states.
4. Respond to any attacks from the Palestinian states in accordance with UN Charter Article 51, i.e., use whatever overwhelming force is necessary to neutralize the "invaders".
The new Palestinian states will either learn to be peaceful neighbors or they will be pounded into oblivion by Israel with impunity provided by international law of war. Gaza is already a de facto free fire zone for the IDF and IAF. Counter battery radar is already vectoring IDF artillery onto rocket and mortar launch sites, in some cases even before the Palestinian ordinance reaches its targets. West Bank is next. The Arabs want war? Then war they shall have, total war.
All wars are wars of attrition. Whose economy (capacity to make war) will run out of steam first, Israel or Palestine? Guns or butter? The Palestinians apparently have already made the transition to guns. Israel is still making lots of butter.
The restraint shown by Israel thus far is nothing short of a miracle.
Does anyone remember that thirty years ago the PR flacks for the PLO in the West were telling everybody that what they wanted was a "secular, democratic state"?
Now Prez George II openly approves of Hamas participation in the "democratic process" in the "Palestinian Authority" zones.
Sharon's Gaza retreat was wrong for many reasons. One was that he drove Jews out of their homes. Another was that by leaving the frontier between Gaza and Egypt, he allowed Arab terrorists, including the PLO/PA to openly bring heavy weapons into Gaza without any obstacle. Of course, they were bringing in much relatively light weaponry as soon as they took control in Gaza, since Rabin-Peres had agreed that several hundred VIPs of the PLO would not be subject to body search nor would their vehicles. It is said that Arafat's auto used to sag from the weight of weight of weapons and ammo whenever he entered Gaza by car. On one occasion, the wife of a VIP --traveling without her hubby-- was forcibly inspected by female Israeli inspectors, since she claimed immunity from inspection due to her marital status. The inspectors found two pistols in her brassiere, which she demanded be returned to her.
The only reasons I can see for Sharon's retreat policy are either 1) fear of international pressure and isolation, by EU, UN, USA, etc.; or 2) an agreement between Sharon and Bush back in 2002 that Sharon would eventually retreat from Gaza if Bush withdrew his opposition to Operation Defensive Shield, that is, Bush's opposition to Israeli military operations in Palestinian Authority zones. The fact that Israeli forces are no longer present in Gaza will not in the long run win Israel any points in the "international community," in my opinion.
As to Kabatiya, it is close to Jenin and shares many attitudes with Jenin. Five hundred years ago, Jenin and nearby villages were shaking down non-Muslim travelers on the roads, imposing official and unofficial tolls. See links below on the road tolls [ghafar, gafir] imposed by the Mamluk state and by villagers:

I read your blog Eliyahu and added it my favourites.
Eliyahu:
Lest we also forget, who encouraged the growth of Hamas, seeing it as a counterbalance for the corrupt PA? ...er, Israel.
Thanks, Londongirl.
Waterdragon, the Hamas is an outgrowth of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, not founding Hamas as a separate outfit with that name until December 1987, as I recall. The Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza was low key, mild, talking peace sort of, back in the 1970s. They focussed on community "good works." To what extent Israel allowed them to do their original community organizing and soft preaching activity, I do not know exactly. But somebody here may have thought that they could be played against the PLO, Fatah, etc., which were also Islamist outfits, without stressing their Islamic character in the West. Israeli govts have made many mistakes in dealing with our problems. Making the Oslo accord for the sake of "peace" was much worse.
