Tariq Ramadan, the world-famous "moderate" Muslim scholar who is not allowed into the United States, will be speaking in Canada at an event that will also feature an Amnesty International dhimmi. From Judeoscope, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
Riad Saloojee, CAIR-CAN's Executive Director, will be speaking at Muslim Presence's event entitled "Security for Canada: An Islamic and Human Rights Perspective," which will also feature key note speaker Professor Tariq Ramadan as well as Alex Neve, the Secretary General of Amnesty International Canada.
"An Islamic and Human Rights Perspective"? What? You mean they aren't the same thing?
I'm sure this is what they are so "upset" about

How dare Canada think of the security of its citizens and send a muslim back to his country of origin where he "may" be tortured...maybe the UN should worry about the islamic countries that are doing the torture instead of trying to force civilized nations to keep these dangerous criminals safe, secure and providing all their "islamic necessities" at the expense of the taxpayer.
What's Tariq R. coming to talk about? That it's maybe time for a "moratorium" on stoning in some unnamed countries?
Pretty sad when someone like that comes to tell Canadians about the value of human rights at the invitation of an organization that purports to be a defender of human rights, which is likely looking to drum up suport for some suspected terrorists in Canadian custody.
I hope this activity damages AI's fund-raising abilities in Canada appropriately.
Who will translate into English "Frere Tariq" by Catherine Fourest, which tells you all you need to know?
If the Canadian Broadcasting System, or some other channel, can obtain the footage of Tariq Ramadan's two televised debates, one with Nicolas Sarkozy, and the other with Alain Finkielkraut, it would be well worth dubbing, and showing. Sarkozy dismembered him; Finkielkraut made mincemeat of him. A sight to see. It does not take much; he is such an obivously oily and sly practitioner of taqiyya (oh, but we will now be told that "taqiyya" is limited to Shi'a; Sunnis never ever lie about Islam, they just don't have it in them), tu-quoque, omission, and stony silence, that one has to be as essentially willing to be fooled as the Scott Applebys of this world, to fall for a Tariq-Ramadan. That doesn't mean that various NPR talk-show hosts and others won't do so, for foolishness is in fashion. But it takes some doing.
For the take of an Egyptian Muslim who now lives in Italy, and who has become largely a truth-teller about Islam, the celebrated Magdi Allam, see his book "Vincere la paura" in which he includes a "Lettera aperta a Tariq Ramadan" -- an Open Letter to Tariq Ramadan, in which he says, as one Egyptian Muslim to another, as soemone intimatley familiar with the Muslim Brotherhood founded by Ramadan's grandfather Hassan al-Banna, and with its network of agents throughout Europe, some of whom are quite close to Tariq Ramadan, he can write with authority: "I know you, Tariq Ramadan. I know all about you. You do not fool me." (This is not verbatim, but my recalled summary, distilling the eseence of Magdi Allam's comment).
Why he should contine, this sly creature who wears on his sleeve his slyness, is beyond me.
Translate that Fourest book and that Allam essay. Dub and broadcast those French television debates. Find out about Tariq Ramadan, that apparent master (for those who are ready to be led by the nose) of soft-spoken Taqiyya.
No one is forcing Infidels to play the gull, the fool, the sap who is made fun of throughout history, now buying a bottle of patent-medicine, now sending money to a Nigerian who apparently needs it in order to obtain the proceedes from his late father's bank account, which proceeds will of course be shared with the kind American who sends a nominal sum -- oh, $25,000 will do nicely for now.
That's the kind of idiocy one can live with. But the idiocy of those who refuse to study Tariq Ramadan, who refuse to understand his roots, his friends, his supporters, his aims, his insidiousness -- well, unlike the man who sends his life savings to a post office box in Nigeria, the folly in this case affects the rest of us, damages us, makes us less secure.
And that we should not tolerate.
I live in Ottawa and plan to go to this event. I know about Mr. Ramadan's father, brother and his alleged ties with terrorists But does anyone have anything concrete I can nail Tariq with during the Q&A.
Hugh:
Ramadan was interviewed earlier this year on CBC radio which I happened to catch. He is slippery but, unfortunately he wasn't challenged on any substantive issue by the interviewer. The interview took place on "The Current" weekday mornings with Anna Marie Tremonte.
No links unfortunately as the CBC is presently in a lockout and much of their site is down.
If anyone can refer me to proof that Tariq Ramadan rejects the benefits and superiority of ijtihad, I'd appreciate it.
See if you can get hold of "Vincere la paura" by Magdi Allam. If it is already in English, get that; if not, borrow a copy in Italian. Xerox the "lettera aperta" addressed to Tariq Ramadan (not the other one addressed to Oriana Fallaci). Get someone to translate it for you.
If Fourest's book is in English, get it -- or find it in French and ask someone in anglophone Canada to translate relevant sections.
Or go on-line and google Fourest and Allam and see what you come up with. And Ramadan himself -- there may be all sorts of articles, including a few here at JW, that will give you material to work with.
Don't you wonder what it is talk-show hosts do for a living? They never seem to prepare, never seem to know how to ask a pointed question, of people like Ramadan? Why are they so lazy? Just a pretty voice or one that some people who do the hiring find acceptable, "tough-sounding" and eager, withal -- is that what it's all about? Just look at NPR. Can't we do better?
Hugh:
The most likely choice for the translation job my be the young man who operates Judeoscope. I believe he is a Quebecois, whose purpose in creating his website arises from Jewish sympathies.
There are also likely many French-speaking Sephardic Jews who could step up to the plate.
No nicolas sarkozy did not dismember tariq ramadan, although he ought to have. i did not see the broadcast, but read the transcript. ramadan was firing shots that sarkozy did not even seem to notice, let alone answer.
but at least sarkozy is governing a country which has banned ramadan (for the last 10 yrs, im told)
whereas Bleuh has made this man one of his advisors
Magdi Allam writes two or three times a week in Italy's leading newspaper, IL CORRIERE DELLA SERA, and I would say that for a potent and continuing counterblast to all the Muslim lunatics and taqiyya masters, he is decidedly more successful and effective even than Oriana Fallaci. His arguing ability is superb, his Italian is native standard, smooth and eloquent, his knowledge of facts is undoubted, and his civic passion is the kind that resonates with politically conscious Italians. I have not read that particular book, but I have read a couple of rejoinders to Ramadan - and to the even more odious Italian convert Hamza Piccardo, a former red terrorist who has taken his hatred of the West to another stage - and they are indeed deadly. Ramadan and Piccardo actually conspired to threaten Allam's life, and he exposed their manoeuvres. Little can be more despicable than that.
I ive in French Canada and speak fluent french.
I,m glad both the book's title and author were mentioned here because I'd heard of the work, but couldn't remember who'd written it.
"Frere Tariq" by Catherine Fourest.
Thanks people!! :o)
Fellow Canuck bloggers:
Given what is known about Ramadan, would it not be fitting to get a groundswell going against allowing him to enter Canada?
I'm going to check the Canadian Coalition for Democracy's website to see if they are aware of this event, which is a good possibility as they are in contact with Judeoscope and this is their kind of activity.
If Canadians can put something concrete together, a demonstration or a petition drive, Spencer et al would likely be happy to post some notice about it for us.
Those of us in Canada did mangae to demonstrate against sharia in Ontario, partly due to publicity from Jihadwatch. It worked on a number of levels. Every time we hit the streets we make new contacts, make more people aware of the problem, make a further impression on the public regarding this struggle. Any real activity is a great way to cement ones commitment to this effort, making people aware of its immediacy; and by bringing real people face to face it clarifies and reifies this struggle. It's not just letters on the Internet. It's you, a person I spoke to, someone I might meet on the sidewalk and stop to chat with later and with your friend and some others, and from there it grows. If we can, let's do something physical.
"Human rights"-
Mohammedans would have a completely different understanding of that concept.
For them, it simply means the right of the Mohammedans to spread Islam unhindered in the lands of the infidels.
Anyone objecting to Islam, actively working against those proselytizing, spreading the faith, are impacting on Islamic "human rights", is an "oppressor" and thus commits an act of "injustice against Muslims."
Islamic 'human rights' do not protect the infidel, the unbeliever must either pay the "tax" for the protection racket, live as Dhimmies, subjugated people, or die.
USAgirl:
You were right about the general intent but wrong about the incarcerated suspected terrorist. The wife of one of the imprisoned men who is named Harrakat is going to speak at this gathering as well.
