I didn't post anything about the closing of the Baltimore Tunnel yesterday because the press and authorities were, as usual, so tight-lipped about who actually issued the threat. But this AP story (thanks to Jeffrey Imm) points toward jihadists -- again:
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Despite questions about the credibility of a threat to detonate vehicles full of explosives, officials said they had little choice but to close one of the busy tunnels underneath Baltimore's harbor and partially shut down the other for nearly two hours.One person who may have been connected to the threat was arrested on immigration charges, a law enforcement official said.
The FBI had found no evidence to corroborate the threat by Tuesday evening, said agent Kevin Perkins of the FBI's Baltimore field office....
Shortly before the tunnels were reopened, authorities made about a half-dozen raids in the Baltimore area, said city Police Commissioner Leonard Hamm.Four people were arrested on immigration charges at businesses with Middle Eastern connections, said a federal law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
One of them was arrested as a result of information supplied by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, which was heading the tunnel investigation, the source said. That arrest, made at a pizza shop, may be connected to the threat, the source said.
Middle Eastern connections. And they are unlikely to have been Christian Arabs, or Bahais, or Alawites, or Yazidis, or Mandaeans, or what have you. But AP cannot bring itself to name who they are, and why they might have issued such a threat.

I don't think it is insulting Jews, we are making fun of those who blame Jews for everything. At LGF the Jewish posters are the first ones to say it is the joooos fault. They also want their "check" for their share in the ownership of everything.
The people of Israel, the Jews, are most certainly our allies. Indeed, it is heartening to stand with Israel in this struggle against islam. (After all, Israel has prevailed where many have foundered.)

As for the four arrested, three were from egypt, one from jordan...all on immigration charges for overstaying their visas.
The owner of the halal market, also egyption was questioned but then turned over to local police because he kept a gun in his store that wasn't registered to him. However your prejudice you should be able to understand that he is unable to ascertain a gun permit, while his store is not in the best of areas...I know, i live a block away!!!
Our community is a majority greek orthodox one and everyone stood up in his defense as this man's good charachter is known.
say what you want about them being muslim, you can not tie this into some great jihadi plot as is your wont. The facts are that the "source" in the netherlands failed his lie detector test, there was not a scrap of evidence found to back up any of his allegations and the store doesn't even own a delivery truck which was supposed to be used as the bomb.
Another fact revealed is that one of the four men arrested on immigration charges was "seeing" the girlfreind of the informant!!!

Nope. The way i see it, if the drug dealers who over populate my city are armed illegally, it is just as fair for the law abiding (except for the gun law of course) citizen to carry one. It is better to take one's chances owning an illegal gun in this city than to take one's chances without it...as for me, mine is legal:).
Also, the store owner was here legally, his only problem was the gun in his store. which, honestly, is not uncommon for store owners to have.
as for the illegal immigrants, they had visas, they over stayed them. The government trusted them eough to let them in in the first place...there are so many illegal hispanics in my city, drugs, gangs, welfare, etc.---I am more concerned with people who came here by commiting a felony than those who didn't feel like leaving once uncle sam let them in!
As for calling the f.b.i., i would sooner call the city police to get the open air drug markets closed down, my city has a murder a day and it is rather small...this is more urgent to me than illegal immigrants no matter where they are from.

I strongly disagree. there has been three local news trucks, one from d.c. and a satelite truck beaming to who knows where parked outside this store for the last 48 hours...and it's gated shut, no one's been in or out. yet every news cast they don't fail to have a live reporter on the seen reporting fom "the middle eastern store which f.b.i. raided in suspected terror plot. the muslim store owner was taken in for questioning relating to threats"...blah blah blah.
not to mention that evrytime something happens in a muslim community it is all over this and other sites as though muslims are amassing on the white house to beat our women and eat our kids. you see the attack on christianity or judaism becaus of your affiliations and sensitivities, i see what i see due to mine... the real fact is that we are living in an anti-faith/anti-religious, secular moving media which will attack wherever it sees the chance.
Bill - Do some research. The University system (with few exceptions) is falling all over themselves to cater to Islamic speakers and Professors. The same could hardly be said for evangelicals like Dr. Dobson or Pat Robertson. Muslims are only feeling pressure due to the VIOLENCE, not for their beliefs. Evangelicals are excoriated simply for believing Christ is God.

Before addressing the previous post, the gun that the store owner had was his, registered to him with a permit to have it in his store. However, the crime was that it was supposed to be turned over to the police due to a court order stemming from a divorce he is currently going through. Since he still was in possession of his own gun, he was charged...but he is home and the neighborhood has it's corner store back.
also, the local paper oday said the entire thing was a hoax played out by another egyption who was deported and held in the netherlands...angry that he could not return to the u.s. he decided to get his freinds in trouble too. Misery loves company eh?

as for universities...I think that there are two folds here.
The first shows the students how radical radicals can be by inviting extremist speakers to the school in hopes to scare the students away...much like what is done on this web site.
The second shows the students that just because you read web sites like this one, there is a reality out there and anti-islamic websites, editorials and the like are not showing it...so they invite true islamic scholars to speak to offer the students balance through the truth concerning what Muslims teach and learn.
As for christian evangelists, i do not want to generalize one way or the other and it seems an issue that christians must deal with themselves in the schools.
by the way, i was speaking about the media specifically...but point taken.
