To help build a bridge between the Qu'ran and the Bible, Da Silva asked imam Abdulwahid van Bommel and reverend Adri van Buuren to write a brochure about Christianity and Islam. According to both clergymen, Christians and Muslims share the same God.
Van Buuren calls the Qu'ran 'some kind of third Testament' and calls on Christians and Muslims to pray together and combine forces. "In service of world peace."
Some kind of third Testament, eh, Van Buuren? I guess Van B. hasn't seen the passage where the Qur'an calls down the curse of Allah on those who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Qur'an 9:30).

There is nothing that prevents Christians from working with Muslims who wish to either ignore or explain away the more violent passages of their religious texts (if this majority of such Muslims exists, as we are assured, it does). I don't know if it's wishful thinking or not.
Sharing an interest in peace and mutual tolerance does not have to include some sort of religious fusion. Such heresy (and it is regarded by both sides as such) only serves to isolate the ones who initiate it.
I don't expect a Muslim (moderate or otherwise) not to consider me an infidel but if said Muslim claims to be "moderate" or "pluralist" or "tolerant" then I expect them to act in accordance with such a statement.
Part of being a Christian is having Atheists think you're a fool, New Agers thinking you're a barbarian, Jews thinking you've added to scripture, people who took up "cool" pluralist religions in college thinking you're a fundamentalist . . . and of course Muslims thinking you're an infidel. Many individuals from all those groups have some reason to look down their nose at me but only one seems to want to do something about it.
We have different faiths, nobody who actually follows either of them is going to be convinced otherwise. I could possibly be convinced that some of us have a shared interest in peace . . . I await confirmation of this noble intention.
The Bible and the Quran in one package?? Are they touching??? What an insult...let the riots begin...

The black ministers I know sure don't think the Qur'an is "from God", and I met about twenty of them when I was distributing leaflets and cards to area churches. In fact, the black ministers and many members of their congregations are some of Islam's most vocal and passionate critics.
When I first began calling on these churches last year, I didn't know what sort of reaction to expect when I asked to leave the material about Islam and jihad. Much to my surprise, most of the preachers were quite knowlegable about Islam, particularly Islam's treatment and enslavement of black Africans. One of them told me that muslims exploit blacks and that Arabs are incorrigible racists. Imagine that!
Another one called Islam a "Satanic sect."
Several of them mentioned the current genocide in Africa, where Arab muslims are slaughtering innocent men, women and children, and were outraged that nothing is being done about it. I don't like to put words in anyone's mouth, but I believe it is fair to say that many of the black ministers around here have the utmost contempt for Islam and the Qur'an.

Islam is slavery.. period.
It is the ideology of slaves, warrior slaves, but slaves none the less, one of the favorite Muslim names is Abdullah, which means Slave to Allah.
Islam means submission, but one does not submit to Allah, one submits to the Islamic authorities, be they qadi (Jurist) imam, mullah, ayatollah, but it is men that men submit to, and it is submission that other men demand, as it expands their social status, wealth and power.
Muhammad used god as a ventriloquist dummy, to justify his actions, fulfill his needs, assuage his fears and to gain and keep power over other men, and he demanded that men submit to him, as he was gods ventriloquist. Of course the women in turn submitted to the men, because god said so, and so long as the women submitted to the men, the men were happy submitting to Muhammad, especially when he proved to be a successful bandit, and they enjoyed their share of the booty.
