Bush continues to repeat portions of his speech from several weeks ago. It is good to see him being more forthright about who the enemy is. He would be foolish, of course, to place too much hope in the adherents of the supposedly un-distorted idea of jihad to rush to his side. From the American Forces Press Service, with thanks to Daryl:
WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2005 – Evoking President Ronald Reagan's leadership of America's resolve in confronting communism during his two terms in office, President Bush said today that Islamic radicalism is doomed to fail as communism did.Bush spoke at the Ronald Reagan Library, in Simi Valley, Calif., for the dedication of the new Air Force One Pavilion at the museum, featuring the 707 jet used by Reagan during his presidency.
America prevailed in the 20th-century contest of wills between American freedom and Soviet totalitarianism, Bush noted. In the 21st century, "our freedom is once again being tested by determined enemies," he added. Terrorists like those who attacked America on Sept. 11, 2001, "are followers of a radical and violent ideology," Bush said.
Terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and others of his ilk "exploit the religion of Islam to serve a violent political vision -- the establishment of a totalitarian empire that denies all political and religious freedom," Bush said.
Islamic extremists distort the concept of jihad, or holy war, to command their followers to murder anyone not in agreement with their principles, including other Muslims, the president said. Like old-style Soviets imbued with the ideology of communism, today's terrorist leaders "presume to speak" for the masses, he added.
Not if Bush keeps on with the `ROP` oil.
indeed "leaving the left", bush and the west need to pull out of the middle east, let them kill each other, lets find alternative fuel etc and threaten a nuclear holocaust on any nation which threatens our way of life, starting with saudia arabia!
It seems that Bush doesn't get it. Alhough he appears naive and seems politically correct in public, I hope he is actually savvy in private...
From Bush, this is too little, and way too late. When the nation, just starting to weary of his bungling and inner-circle corruption, was stunned and appalled by the evil we confronted on 9/11, it stood behind him, with all his obvious character and leadership flaws. That was the moment to speak honestly and forthrightly about this threat, and the true sacrifices required to confront it. Bush could have been remembered like Truman, another political leader who did not inspire early confidence. Ever heard the phrase "I'm just mild about Harry?" Bush will be remembered more like "Useless" Ulysses S. Grant. I cannot believe someone that conservatives rallied around was such a PC fool, blathering on about "the religion of peace".
The damage is done to the Bush administration. He can no longer be an effective president. His family is dependent on Saudi investors and owes them a significant debt for their financial success. Instead of pursuing the real WMD threat from Iran, he chose a personal vendetta against Iraq. His entire administration's intellectual shiftlessness has led to a fiscal train wreck. Now two of his people are about to be indicted for LEAKING THE NAME OF A CIA OPERATIVE. We're supposed to be at war, a war that is every bit as critical to the future of our way of life as the civil war, WWII or the cold war. Can you imagine FDR being so stupid? Lincoln? Reagan? Bush SR? What a pack of schmucks Bush has in there with him. Watching Karen Hughes fumble her way around the world like a clown is painful. All he cares about is that they are loyal to him. It does not matter how much damage they do to our country, or the life and death struggle we are in with Islam and the global Jihad.
And now, at this late date, we hear Bush is fessing up to the scale of the problem. Wow, thanks for the resolute leadership.
Quijybo:
It appears you are one of those anti-Bush people since you are towing the same old lines of the usual Bush hater crowd comments which get very boring year after year to hear.
Do you want our President to fail or do you want to have our President succeed against the enemies of the free world? Which is it?
You have clearly demonstrated the usual left line jibberish that carries very little water. IE Bush family Saudi connection---personal vendetta against Saddams Iraq---that one has always lost me since you apparently recognize that Iraq was a threat to the Western world-- Saddams Iraq violated 17 UN resolutions including UN 1441, and the entire UN Security councel voted 14-0 that Saddam was a serious threat to the free world and must be dealt with and yet you hold that it was just a family vendetta.
Please take the time to do a little more objective research when you condem the decisions of our President. Would you wrather have President Clinton, or Kerry dealing with this threat today? The president and his staff along with the state department and thousands of experts go into the decision making choices that this President will eventually make.
Yes there is bitter political wrangling , but very few democrats with the exception of a handful of far lefties work to weaken the Presidents hand as he trys to deal with the enemies of democracy. For those few who try to undermine the presidents efforts and give encouragment to the enemy to keep on killing coalition troops ,and mostly Iraqis; I for one will never ever forget them as well as forgive them.
Ultimately we are all here because we see the reality of the global Jihad and its threat to our way of life. To the extent that Bush is speaking about it, it is a good thing. I'll grant you that. Perhaps I was a bit harsh.
I don't want to undermine Bush. I want him to lead the best possible containment strategy against Islam's expansionism, to eloquently expose the truth about Islam and its violent nature. This is a difficult, complex task, one that a leader like Lincoln, Roosevelt or Churchill would struggle with. I truly believe, like Ali Sina, that if this is done, Islam will wither under the weight of its own contradictions, just like communism.
Quijybo
Islam is the big fat Pink Elephant, sulking belligerently in the corner of the room. Nobody, including our leader, is willing to call it what it is. "Radical" and "extremist" my ass.
And, as for the USSR analogy, they were going broke when Reagan turned down the screws. The Moslems have been awash in cash for decades, and now the cash flow is a torrent.
Anybody recall the geophysical survey announced a month or two ago, the one that revises the estimate of the reserves in the Arabian (Saudi, southern Iraq) field up to 200% of what had been previously estimated?
This War of Islam -- now 4 years old -- is a different situation altogether.
Quijybo:
Thank you, Your last comments reflect a more positive resolve. No President in history has had to deal with an enemy like this, who is driven by a religion that is totalitarian in its Ideology. It wheres no military uniform, it can strike anywhere at anytime,it is not clearly directed or commanded by some General. The enemy could be living next door, it is hard to define whether he is driven to commit to the the 6th pillar of Islam until some evidence comes to light either physically or by those around him.
Because he is the President he has to try and practice as much diplomacy as he possibly can as well as the staff of people around him. They don't have the luxury of branding the entire umma as committed jihadists, they don't want to polarize the entire Islamic community by painting them with such a broad brush . The President and his cabinet still need to preserve some wiggle room with the more and truly moderate followers of Islam.
I have lived through 12 presidents and not one of them has ever come through the Presidency without having been tarnished by some domestic situation, both democrat or republican.
Our presidents points are down but I don't want to give this enemy any more confidence if I can avoid it.
Pretty soon -- oh, say, in about 50 years or so, we'll have a cigar.
And a few more terrorist attacks mass-murdering thousands, or hundreds of thousands, or millions.
From his Barbeque smeared lips to God's ears... to paraphrase...!
I share Quiybo's and Mackie's concerns. What bothers me so tremendously is that actions he could have taken - like suggesting a fence along the Mexican border like the Israelis have, like quietly altering the Immigration department's goals to reduce Muslim immigration, like passing legislating greatly reducing the immigration appeal process, which is a lawyer's orgasmic dream the money that can be made and how easy it is to abuse, like raising the bar for asylum acceptance.
These are not tasks that require an open war on Islam, yet none of them have been done.
It is hard to continue to excuse Bush's ignorance of Islam and just the suggestions above are not formidable at all to achieve. Or at least put forward for debate.
I know Bush is better than the other choices, but 4 years, and the man has never cracked open a Qur'an or read any crtical book on Islam. You may say he has, but his words betray him. If he truly understood Islam, his words would be clever to avoid directly accusing all Islam, but calling into question many of the doctrines of Islam and its hostility to infidels. But by misleading the public that the jihadists are 'twisting' Islam is not good for the public. It deceives them, and endangers us all.
"The president and his staff along with the state department and thousands of experts go into the decision making choices that this President will eventually make."
More than four years have passed since Muslim fundamentalists carried out the 9/11 attack.
I believe the president has been mislead, by 'experts', for long enough now.
I, too, want my president, and our allies, to succeed in this global war against Muslim jihadists.
He and other world leaders will stand a better chance of success when they truly understand Islam.
Can there be a Muslim in any American city or town who does not know that our president, and his staff, have been mislead?
With regard to the Presidents: Lincoln suspended habeus corpus, as well as other civil rights, during the war, he recognized that these acts were impeachable but felt necessary; FDR missed Klaus Fuchs and others reporting atomic secrets to the Soviets, he also infuriated Churchill with his inability to grasp just how untrustworthy Stalin was; Reagan, whom I really liked, tucked tail and ran from Lebanon (remember the 260+ Marines?); Clinton was a buffoon on the issue of terrorism, much of this could be laid at his feet (pun intended)for doing essentially nothing after embassy bombings, the Cole, etc. Perhaps we do need a few more hat salesmen as President.
As for Bush, he is stuck with the damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he were to declare the problem to lie with the essence of Islam as practiced, a totalitarian, medieval warrior religion, he be called a racist, a bigot, and a Crusader by the Left and Muslims. If he does the "twisted", then the Right complains. I do believe he is probably clueless on Jihad and Dhimmi, but Kerry would have been a real fiasco on terrorism.
Finally, whoever believes all religions are "good" needs a good course in comparative religion and history. Are the Aztecs still cutting out beating hearts?

I should be imaging the Moslems in a din of thigh-slapping guffaw-filled paroxyms of laughter at what suckers George, Condi, and the rest of infidiels are.
But I'm not imaging that. These Moslems are grim people.
I'm sure that instead of laughing the Moslem next door is getting a little misty eyed at how God and Mohammed hath shown him the right path -- the M.O., if you will -- to a glorious world enshrouded in Sharia.
Islam is a Self-Perpetuation Machine. Moslems are religioso Borgs.
John Sobieski
Yes, it is the demographics of the muslim population that is going to decide the future. What is happening is now is simply the trailor.
Pres Bush may now occasional stray from the RoP mantra but he has little time left in office to do a turn around. By next year year the US will be in an election cycle again and all major changes in policy will be deferred.
There was a window of opportunity that existed - just after 9/11, to make some radical changes to mmigration policy, particularly immigration of muslims. That opportunity is now past.
Resistance is NOT Futile, unless the General Masses in the West continue to face the facts. I dont know whats wrong with the leftists here and across the pond. They have so much more to lose, ie: slavery, humiliation, etc. Me? The most that they could do is kill me. The masses dont want a religious war, even though that war is already upon them. As for me, I will die resisting assimilation by borg.
"Islamic Radicalism 'Doomed To Fail,' Bush Says"
Empty words from (W)ahabbster. Now so concerned with his disasterous poll numbers, he's even willing to throw a tiny verbal morsel to the base after YEARS of NOTHING.
And watch them lap it up appreciatively.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE SAUDI'S MAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE, WHO HAD A FILTHY, ARAB, JEW-KILLING TERRORIST TO THE WHITE HOUSE THIS WEEK, AND IS GIVING THE WORLD ANOTHER FILTHY ARAB, MUSLIM JEW-KILLING TERROR-STATE DOES NOT, REPEAT NOT BELIEVE ISLAMIC RADICALISM IS DOOMED TO FAIL.
(W)ahabbster is deaths for Jews, (W)ahabbster is death for America.
IT is coming.
Why is it that whenever I hear President Bush speak on Islam that I get sleepless nights thereafter?
Islamic Radicalism 'Doomed To Fail,' Bush Says...
Well that's a relief! I was beginning to get concerned there for a while. This guy is on the ball, I sure am glad he's in charge...
I can add about 100 executive actions to John Sobieski's list that Bush could have taken over the last four years to -- at the very least -- slow down the global jihad without formally "declaring war on Islam". Since this is the most glaring example of Bush's Achilles Heel, let's start with the Saudis:
1) Eliminate the "visa express" programme immediately after 9/11, which provided unfettered access to the US for Saudi nationals;
2) Convey to James Baker in the strongest terms, his dismay that Baker's law firm Baker Botts would agree to represent several Saudi princes as defendants in the 9/11 lawsuit;
3) Reject the Saudi "peace plan" for the ME which calls on Israel to surrender all "Arab land" in exchange for formal "recognition" of Israel by Arab states (this was accepted and bundled into the Road Map);
4) Do not allow SA into the WTO, as they are not even meeting the minimum requirements with their continued boycott of another WTO member (Israel);
5) Allow sanctions against SA to take effect for their abysmal human rights record (blocked by Bush);
6) Do not "certify" SA as successfully fighting terrorism and therefore, eligible for US financial aid;
7) Insist that all Saudi-funded mosques and madrassas in the US end production and distribution of Judeo-Christian hate literature (discovered by Freedom House);
8) End all official contacts with CAIR, the leading Islamic supremacist and propagandist group in the US (Saudi-funded);
9) Launch a public investigation into the history, teachings, scope, and impact of Wahhabi Islam;
10) Close the WH to visits from Saudi princes
There is nothing inevitable about the defeat of the world-wide Jihad. In fact, if one looks at the emptying out of non-Muslim populations within the last half-century or century, one finds that the non-Muslim population of North Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, and Iran, consisting of Christians and Jews, has gone steadily down. And the non-Muslim populaton of Pakistan and Bangladesh, consisting mainly of Hindus (and some Sikhs and Christians) has gone steadily down. And the non-Muslim population in Malaysia and Indonesia has gone steadily down. In every case forced expulsion, steady persecution, mass murder, and even genocide, as in Turkey, has helped to explain such a change.
Meanwhile, everywhere in the Lands of the Infidels, millions of Muslims have been allowed to settle or, as in India and Lebanon, where the have long been present as a minority,, they have been steadily outbreeding the non-Muslims and the percentage of Muslims in the population has steadily, almost it seems inexorably, risen.
If demography is destiny, and if nothing is done to halt Muslim in-migration, and Muslim overbreeding that astounds -- in France the non-Muslims increase by .5% a year, while Muslims increase by 5% per year -- 10 times the rate. In Italy (with a negative birth-rate), in Spain, in England, in Germany, the same kind of results. Anyone can do the simple calculation. It can already be seen that Western politicians, having no sense of their own civilzations or what needs to be retained at all costs, more and more wilingly appease Muslim voters. A few years ago a prominent leader of the Socialist Party sent out word to his underlings that they should forget entirely about "the Jews" and Israel, and concentrate entirely on winning the Muslim vote, which can only be won by adopting Muslim demands in foreign policy, and meeting Muslim demands for changes in the laws, customs, and manners to be observed within the Infidel land in which they happen to have settled. Much the same kind of cravenness by politicans can be observed in Great Britain, where in local elections, and not only in London with Ken Livinstone, the politicians vie in their desire to appease an please Muslim voters, and those who would like to register their fear and dismay, and their desire to make their country less welcoming to Muslims who do not wish the resident Infidels well, have only the beyond-the-pale (as many of them see it) BNP in England, or Le Pen in France and thus are without an articulate, respectable figure to lead, to warn, to instruct, and to help rescue those who did nothing to deserve this except to be insufficiently attentive -- for they trusted their own leaders -- to the immutable nature, and menace, of Islam and its adherents, both those who are clearly "immoderate" and those who claim, and for the moment may be, that slippery thing, a "moderate" Muslim.
When Rice prates about how Iraq reminds her of Germany and France after the war -- anyone can in a moment think of three or four major ways in which this analogy crumbles into dust -- or stoutly insists that we will "not falter or fail" and lets alliteration do her thinking for her, when Bush prates about "staying the course" and not "cutting and running," and his fan club, among so-called "Conservatives," one begins to despair. And among those who should by this time know better, that there is still this willingness to utter inanities and illogcail remarks about "democracy" in Iraq, without any argument as to why this "democracy" in Iraq could conceivably lead to a better situation for Infidels, when the best thing that could happen as far as Infidels are concerned is the break-up of Iraq, the permanent war, cold or hot, between Shi'a and Sunni along the fault line that now runs through Iraq, and the creation of a non-Arab Muslim state, Kurdistan, that might inspire other non-Arab Muslims, and cause all of them to focus a bit more clearly on Arab supremacist ideology within Islam.
Yesterday, at the Union League in New York, The New Criterion sponsored a small meeting to discuss the islamization of Europe. As it happened, quite by chance, the person who knows most about this subject in the world, Bat Ye'or, was in the vicinity and, at the last minute, took part. But it was clear, from reports, that there was a widespread inability, in those who attended and of whom more might be expected, to understand the time-frame in which events in Europe are taking place, and how late things are for the Americans (and the Europeans) to come to their senses. Like our rulers, those who when they go to Europe live in certain hotels, meet certain people, and are cushioned by their own ignorance of languages, and the bubble in which they live when they visit Europe (so that, for example, even reading "Le Monde" or "Le Figaro" or the "Corriere della Sera" or "El Pais" is impossible, and information arrives filtered through the English-language press, or television) -- and the less alarmed one is by the islamization of Europe, the more one may continue to believe that Bush and company must know what they are doing in Iraq, and despite its seeming illogicality, surely something wonderful or at least hopeful will come of it. No it won't. The most hopeful thing that could possibly come of it is not a stable, well-functioning nation-state, its army thoroughly trained to Western standards by American officers (and no doubt that newly-trained "Iraqi" army will be happy to share all its new expertise with armies of other Muslim states -- just what we need, better Muslim armies, with better logistics, equipment, and morale).
Once the regime was overturned, once Saddam himself was captured and his sons and assocaites killed or captured, and the country scoured for major weapons, and weapons projects permanently disrupted, and weapons depots blown up where appropriate, the war was won. The Sunnis had been deposed; the Shi'a were now tasting power and would not ever again relinquish it. At that point it was time to leave. It has been time to leave for at least a year. The longer we stay, the more expertly we train Muslim Arabs, whether Shi'a or Sunni, the more men and money we so obviously squander, the more morale in the army will go down among, not all the trooops, but the more thoughtful of them, the ones least inclined to parrot the line from above. The more we stay, the fewer civilians will enlist in the Reserves and the National Guard, and standards for enlistment will -- have already -- go down. The longer we stay, the more the siren-song of those who think there is nothing about Islam to worry about, and we should leave Iraq, but for all the wrong reasons, and certainly not to exploit the natural fissures within Islam -- because so few think there is anything wrong with Islam (when everything is wrong with Islam).
And so, while our attention and money and men and material and morale are monomaniacally focused on Iraq, the period in which Western Europe can be saved, its people and other or better leaders come to their senses about Islam, and be joined by a muscular United States, is wasted, and clocks tick, and demography becomes destiny.
When we hear the description "radical",or "extremism" in defining militant Islam, can we put a sound description to that particular enemy? can we get a count on his troop strength? Do we know him when we see him? Do we have good collaberated intelligence on his weapons systems? Do we know where he has established his military basis? Do we know his direct sources of support?
Fundamental Islam is like no enemy America has ever faced. It cannot be fought and won in a 2 hour movie of the week on television . The battles to push back the invading hords of muslims where fought over hundreds of years during the crusades after Muslims had raged across the middle east through force and fear for more than 400 years.
Today the state department lists at least 40 prominent Islamic terrorist organizations across the planet that are all trying to terrorize, and force their collective and fascist will upon non-Islamic countries.
Will Americans wake up and understand these totalitarian Ideologies determined goals that have been coming at us for hundreds of years but like the industrial, and technology revolutions they to have also gone into high gear and our coming faster and faster at us.
Many of us hear seem to think the president and his staff are ignorant of the aspirations of Islam. I simply find that very hard to believe. In the past I have heard Secretary of State Rice speak quite candidly about the Islamic threat to the free world during the 9-11 commission.
What serious advice by the numbers would you give the president as to how to deal with the ever encroaching threat of fundamental Islam?
Please recall that he has asked for advice for fighting this enemy.
The jihadwatch forum is without doubt read by people who may have the ear of some advisors -- take a shot at it by the numbers, lay out a strategy, see whatt we come up with --after all who knows we may have some great ideas on how to execute this war on terrorism by the "numbers"-- lets give it a try!
"What serious advice by the numbers would you give the president as to how to deal with the ever encroaching threat of fundamental Islam?"
-- from a posting above
1. Education:
Make sure that the 5-10 most relevant books are read by generals, other officers, and men -- beginning with those at the War College. And make sure that those in the Department of Justice, civilian employees in the Department of Defense, upper-level employees in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and members of Congress and state and local government, are properly educated on the subject of Islam. Stop misrepresenting Islam as a doctrine which encourages "peace" and "tolerance." Stop continuing to insist that those who conduct Jihad are doing so despite Islam, and not quite properly prompted by, and in the name of, and in the spirit of, Islam.
Attempt on every occasion to raise the matter of what Islam teaches, and how Muslims intend to deal with these teachings, or not to, at every meeting with Muslim ambassadors and leaders. Never leave it out of any speech -- and make sure that from the top down, everyone is echoing the same sentiments, asking the same questions, wondering the same things aloud.
2. Establish a War Board which, once it has been clearly understood that the menace threatening all Infidels everywhere is properly called a "Jihad," then that War Board will seek to identify, and bring to the attention of Infidels everywhere, the various instruments of that Jihad. While military means are part of Jihad, whether acts of terrorism or battlefield combat (qital), they are not the most effective or most threatening instruments of Jihad. These others include "wealth" (i.e. oil revenues), "pen, speech" (propaganda), and the latest weapon, the demographic weapon. It is important to produce evidence, from Muslim press, radio, television, and websites, that there is a clear understanding among Muslims of how, for example, "demographic conquest" can -- and has in the past in various parts of the world -- succeed in islamizing a place.
3. Establish a Propaganda Unit whose aim will be to make clear to non-Arab Muslims that within Islam there is an Arab supremacist ideology, that is not only political (so that non-Arab Muslims are always enrolled in whatever political demands the Arabs make, but not vice-versa), but cultural and linguistic (the taking of Arab names, the turning five times a day in the direction of Arabia, the insistence that the model for all mankind, for all time, is Mohammad, a seventh-century Arab, and in addition, his Companions whose mores and manners were those of 7th-century Arabs, so that Kurds, Berbers, Persians, Malays, and others are made to forget, or despise, as much as possible, their own history, language, and culture. There should be no let up in attempts to bring the real nature of Islam home to these Muslims.
Another part of this propaganda unit would emphasize the way in which Islam stunts civilizational development, and individual mental growth. The habit of mental submission, the system of Total Regulation (of what you eat, of what you wear, of how your hair is done, of how you wash yourself, of absolutely everything under the sun) and, in addition, the setting up of the Qur'an as containing all of Science, so that in the end human curiosity is stifled, and one is discouraged, forbidden in fact, from exercising free and skeptical inquiry -- needs to be noted. Mothers need to realize that Islam will hold their children back. Some will ignore this, but many will not.
The many prohibitions in Islam, on music, on painting of living creatures, on sculpture, on much else, also needs to be given attention, and emphasis.
If Islam can be seen as an enemy of human freedom and thought -- which it is -- it will be easier to cause those who might otherwise be inclined to be tolerant, those for whom that art and that science and that mental freedom are supposed to be important, to enroll in the anti-Jihad which needs every conceivable recruit, however those recruits may find one another leaving something to be desired.
4. Identification of places where natural fissues within Islam can be exploited, at little cost, and with great benefit. Obvious example: Iraq. Other examples: black Africa, where the treatment of black Africans by Arabs should evoke, and can be made to evoke, the centuries of the Arab slave trade, which began earlier, and ended, most unwillingly, later under European pressure, and has more or less been re-begun wherever Arab Muslims have been free from such pressure or prying, in the Sudan, in Mali, in Mauritania, and even, one has reason to believe, in Saudi Arabia. That slavery cannot be outlawed in Islam, that it is part of Islam, that its victims have been black Africans and Slavs in south and eastern Europe, and people catpured on raids in Western Europe, needs to be constantly raised, constantly emphasized. This is not a case of blackening an image, but merely of presenting the true face of what has been so carefully hidden from view.
5. Doing everything possible to unite Infidels everywhere -- all non-Muslims, some of whom have had more immediate or recent experience of Muslim rule, as Hindus in India, and whose historical experience (60-70 million killed by Muslims) could help in changing the natural tendency toward appeasement of so many Western Europeans.
6. Keeping all major weapons systems out of the hands of Muslim governments -- no matter how seemingly friendly or "moderate" that government may, at the moment, profess to be. No exceptions, for "moderates" can always become "immoderate."
7. Keeping Turkey out of the E.U., for its presence would guarantee the future islamization of Europe which must be stopped.
8. Seeking ways to militarily reverse Muslim encroachments, wherever results can be surely achieved, at little cost, and where the benefits would be great -- as would happen if the Americans were to seize the southern Sudan and Darfur, only in order to hold a referendum on indpendence from the northern Arab Muslims, and not to bring "democracy."
9. Working to reverse the Russian suspicion and resentment of the United States, and continually pointing out to the Russians that it is they who have the most to fear from Iranian or other Muslim possession of nuclear weapons, unless Russia is prepared not only to surrender the entire Caucasus, but to throw both Georgia and Armenia to the Muslim wolves, and in the end, Russia itself, given its own birth-rate, and that of the Muslims within it, has to begin to grasp that this is not a mere matter of swarthy southerners -- the "chornyie" who arouse Russian suspicions -- not a matter of skin color but of ideology, a matter of Muslims, whether swarthy or white as the snow in the lands of the Evenks.
10. Understanding how very useless is the concept of the "moderate" Muslim/ Not only because it is impossible to know when someone's "moderation" is real or feigned, and experience shows that Muslim dissimulation -- whether called taqiyya, kitman, or simply dissimulation -- comes naturally, and not only because by his mere presence a "moderate" Muslim can swell the ranks, and hence the perceived power, of Muslims and thereby help even the "immoderates" obtain their demands on craven Infidel politicians. No, also because even the "Moderate" can be transformed, sometimes very quickly, into the "immoderate" Muslim, or can have children who themselves will turn out, in a seeking-your-roots or disaffected-from=-the-West attitude, to become "immoderate."
11. Working to stop further penetration and settlement behind what Muslims themselves regard as enemy lines. This requires not a general attack on immigration, but specific moves to limit Muslim immigration, which can only take place if the Idols of the Age, about Diversity and Everyone Wants the Same Thing and Tolerance is Always the Only Conceivable Policy, are undermined, mocked, and shown up as the dangers they are.
Those are 11. It took about 15 minutes. I was actually going to stop at 10, but I noticed I had misnumbered them, so there is one more, by way of lagniappe (do stop in at the store again). In another fifteen minutes, I could do another 10 or if I remain so bad at counting, another 11. But so can you. And so can any man. But will those who rule over us come? I don't know. But it doesn't require everyone to get with the program. It only requires enough.
Terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and others of his ilk "exploit the religion of Islam to serve a violent political vision -- the establishment of a totalitarian empire that denies all political and religious freedom," Bush said.
Bush is above all a politician. All politicians lie, but they might not call it that. The above statement is word magic, it is undoubtably true, but there is more to the story that is being left out. The magic is in the word 'exploit'. Osama is using Islam but he is not 'exploiting' it. Islam has all the ingrediants for Osama to use without 'exploiting' anything. Islam lends itself to Osamas use and that of every other jihadist from Mohammad forward. There is nothing in Islam that Osama is 'exploiting' or twisting.
If Bush reads any of the Islamic literature he would know this. Osama is operating from and by 'The Book'. But it may not be politically prudent to say that, so magical buffers like 'exploit' are applied that sort of address the issue, but not quite. In reality, there is nothing there to exploit...
Hugh:
I can't help thinking that developing a list of ideas such as you have put together in around 15 minutes above is an exellent and constructive idea rather than the continious bashing of the president that went on in this comment section,
. A continious, and growing constructive compilation of Ideas from commenters on jihadwatch or even other respected websites maybe a terrific way to go. Cut and paste by the numbers and slowly develop some terrific ideas that can take the form of several pages that might even be directed to the Presidents office would certainly be a great znd positive way to go.
The threat that is the most lethal is not violent terrorism it is demographic conquest of the west.
Of course when a fire burns in the bush evryone notices it.
but when the timber is consumed by beetles earthworms etc over a period of time hardly anyone notices the timber vanish.
So it is with Islam, a series of tiny steps taken over centuries result in a change that is hardly noticed until too late.
Of course the west must halt or limit islamic arrivals. This can be done in the Most PC terms using any number of excuses for shutting the gates.
And what the west must do foremost is encourage the breeding of its own waning population by a series of advantageous Tax concessions, benefits etc. Already we have seen the courting of the ever increasing muslim vote by immoral politicians. An increase in our own indigenous popultion is need to counter this.
whereas we know from history that Muslims regularly culled and slaughtered the infidel populations or forcibly converted them to Islam to control their numbers, our own morality prevents us from such barbarity.
Eleven is too many. Best to whittle it down to seven and use a mnemonic, like 'FREEDOM' or 'NO JIHAD'.
There is a great deal of mileage in all of these points, but the third one, on Arab cultural imperialism is particularly important in winning hearts and minds, as well as dividing and ruling.
Here in the UK, most Muslims are originally from Pakistan or Bangladesh. A disturbing tendency has been the Arabisation of these people that has come with radicalisation of Islam. In the Lancashire town where I come from, the drab, black and sinister niqab is replacing the colourful shalwar khameez. Music and dance, mendhi ceremonies, robust Punjabi humour are all threatened by this Arab-Islamic monoculture, ironically defended by multiculturalists.
Those who are so quick to rail against cultural imperialism when it is the more advanced and civilised culture of the West, are strangely silent when Arab imperialism, surely the most aggressive of them all, obliterates the humanising non-Muslim traditions of Muslim peoples that make their lives bearable.
Some excellent comments, above, summarizing some the of failures of the current administration: failure to understand Islam and failure to change our relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Bush has taken a step in the right direction by finally acknowledging that Islam does play a role – even if the calls it a bastardization of Islam. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the ability to intellectually guide the nation down a new path.
Still, I’d demand more of the man even given his handicaps. He could acknowledge that many Americans wonder if something is wrong with Islam at its core. And, of course, he could ask the appropriate rhetorical questions. Why have so few Muslims spoken out against the jihadists in a substantial manner? Where is the refutation of jihadist ideology by those claiming to be moderate? Why is bin Laden still popular throughout the Muslim world? By acknowledging the questions on the minds of many Americans he can avoid arguing the case himself; and he can let Muslims know that many Americans understand Islam.
This too is a small step but the man is modest in his ability to articulate and defend a viewpoint – any viewpoint. It would, however, at least encourage the debate. This much more is within the character of the man.
Excellent posts in this thread --
I don't know if many Western citizens are aware of exactly how alien the "Muslim" culture actually is -- As such it is impossible to pronounce about it being "doomed to failure" The more I learn, the more I am perplexed that such an INSANE "religion" has ever taken hold -- I am somewhat at a loss to understand how it boasts 1.3 billion adherents --
May I recommend reading a site at "www.islam.tc/ask-imam" so that readers here can get a dose directly from the horse's ... mouth of how bizarre their religious and cultural strictures are ? In addition to spelling out in pidgeon English various fatwas and such, this site helps to elucidate how far apart we are as Westerners from Islamic people and the pious Muslim culture...
Are posters here aware, for example, that Muslims spend an inordinant amount of time asking their Imams for guidance about the exact and "proper" ways of handling scabs, fingernails, semen, and the hairs they are religiously required to pluck from their various body areas? -- Did you know that most of the so-called "shaheeds" wrap their genitals in tissue to "keep them clean for Allah" and that Muhammad Atta went through a bizarre ritualistic body shaving procedure. I have been told by a relative in the FBI that he left separate packages labelled with which part of his body the hairs had come, and instructions as to what to do with them... All according to well spelled out time honored Islamic rules... Muslims freely discuss among themselves their STRICT RELIGIOUS REQUIREMENTS about this stuff, though they apparently show a healthy level of embarrassment to discuss these matters with the infidel. Fortunately there are sites like "Ask-The-Imam" which spell it out in pidgin English -- otherwise I would have no idea how bizarre their beliefs truly are...
For example, as a pious Muslim, you're supposed to bury your excreta such as hair and fingernail clippings, pluckings and sloughings... They are never to be buried in areas considered "unclean" Innumerable questions are directed to the Imam on this site to help clear up the arcana involved with the proper Islamic parameters regarding endless peculiar questions about personal hygiene. The thrall is reduced to the level of an infant -- not sure what day to clip his nails -- Thursday seems popular -- is a razor OK to use? Oh no!!!! that would be an abomination --- ONLY PLUCKING is allowed for THAT body part... YIKES... -- These endless prurient rules include NEVER flushing or throwing in the trash hairs or various bodily excretions which have been clipped, trimmed, plucked, or which have fallen out or what have you. If such were to come in contact with things that are considered "najis" or "unclean" it is considered the HEIGHT of "abomination..." and to be avoided AT ALL COSTS...! In fact the Imam seems much more likely to be worked up into a lather about these matters than in questions about jihad and "suicide operations..."
Words such as "forbidden" "abomination" "unclean" "mandatory" are replete at this site -- It is also remarkable for its utter lack of self consciousness in light of the extremely bizarre and nearly always embarrassing details and arcana with which it delves into... It comes as no surprise to me, with the followers of Islam apparently spending hours per day obsessively following strictly spelled out ritualistic cleanings, purgings, and compulsive forms of bizarre disposals, that Muslims are so backward...
Please take a look at the site... It is positively GROTESQUE - I am repeatedly buffeted between tears of laughter and feelings of nauseousness reading the questions posed, and the absurd religiously based answers provided, but I consider it a duty to attempt to understand the mindset of the Muslim...
At the very least you will find it revealing -- We are dealing with something so alien to our knowledge or familiarity that it is truly mind blowing....

The advise is good; nothiing conveys, or reminds one, of the sheer craziness of Islam like a few minutes or even an hour spent at a Muslim web-site. Make sure those who know nothing of Islam take the time to look. It will permanently immunize them. And then they can also go to www.faithfreedom.org to read what ex-Muslims so tirelessly and intelligently point out, and particularly the articles of Ali Sina, that genius domus of the site.
Sobieski and others: Hate to bear bad news, but when it comes to immigration, it's law rather than policy that rules. If you want an immigration "policy" that discriminates in favor of certain cultures and against others, you need to first convince the honorable houses of Congress to pass laws--and then make sure there are people on the federal bench who won't strike them down under various bits of anti-discrimination laws passed over the years.
