Swiss cuff Islamic hate message duo

Jihad from the University of Geneva computer system. From The Register, with thanks to Twostellas:

Swiss police last week arrested two African men who allegedly used the University of Geneva's computer system to disseminate Islamic fundamentalist hate messages and justifications for terrorist attacks, AFP reports.

The two - a 27-year-old Moroccan and a 41-year-old Algerian, both staying illegally in Switzerland - were fingered by German-language newspaper Weltwoche which reported the activity to the uni's authorities.

Where do these people get their money? Who employs them? It isn't easy to be a non-Swiss living in Switzerland. It is even more difficult to be an illegal immigrant. How did they live? Who protected them?

I wondered how they got access to the system. Then I clicked on the link to the story.

"That the duo were able to access the computer system was apparently due to a "code that a student had negligently left lying around". ®"

I do not believe the chain of coincidences that this story implies. And I wonder how many Muslim students and employees this school has.

Dead-on comments. The Swiss are tough on illegals, and I'm wondering how these two managed to survive there at all, let alone infiltrate the university. This is a story that should have legs, unless there's a determined group who won't let it walk into the public's view any further. Could be good.

I am an American. I lived and work in Switzerland in 2001. I was told before I moved there, I had to get a a crimminal check by my local governmen and bring my birth certificate. I did not have to send this information in advance, I had to bring it with me and once I settled in, I had to give it to the local government in the village I resided in. It was really easy. I started working before they got my criminal check. Of course this was a village and I had visited it before on vacation, so the people knew me. I can't say it is hard getting into Switzerland at all. The Swiss use to be very easy on fights in and out of the country. They never opened my passport. They just look at it in my hand and waved me on. I, also use to cross the border to Italy by car about once a week and I was never bothered by anyone. It is more difficult to get into the UK, France and Germany. Hopefully things have changed there but something tells me, it hasn't after reading the article.
