Teacher's 'bus bomb warning' probed

Just another day at school in glorious multicultural Cool Britannia. From The Scotsman, with thanks to Cindy:

Police are investigating allegations that a physics teacher warned wayward pupils that he knew how to make a parcel bomb and put it on their school bus.

The comments are being investigated after complaints from parents that their children had been left terrified led to the school calling in police.

The comments were allegedly made by Mazin Albarq to a class of 13 and 14-year-olds at the 1,200-pupil St Bede's RC School and Sixth Form College in Lanchester, County Durham.

Mr Albarq, of Darlington, County Durham, is said to have told a group of pupils who were not paying attention that he was from Bethlehem and knew how to make a parcel bomb to put on their school bus.

There are times when my concerns about the Islamofascist threat are temporarily set aside so that I can devote all my mental facilities to marvelling at just how stupid some people can be.

This is not the first time some jihadi wannabe has put himself in the soup over his inability to resist shooting off his mouth.

Their arrogance may well be one of our most valuable weapons. They are so sure of their superiority, so convinced of the inevitability of their victory, that they are already seeing themselves as beyond our grasp, or that the loss of themselves, a fair trade for the satisfaction of indulging themselves in their outburst, will not damage the Islamic juggernaut. After all, the individual is nothing, Islam is all.

When you read articles about information gained from those "already in custody", the blind will answer "I bet he was tortured". I think that more times than not, the information was gleefully offered up voluntarily, the dupe seeing his remarks as some sort of weapon designed to send the infidels into spasms of terror.

But then again, 'splodeydopes aren't pillars of common sense anyway.

...a group of pupils who were not paying attention ...

Well, it certainly made them sit up and take notice.

I can't summon up much in the way of outrage about this. Sounds like a crap joke gone wrong.

Re: "he was from Bethlehem and knew how to make a parcel bomb to put on their school bus."

The sad part is that this statement is probably true.

What used to be a joke or off-hand quip is now seen a threat, a reason for being arrested or leaving one's job. People fail to realize that we live in a different world in which certain rules have changed. One should not talk about bombs on airplanes or in schools and school children are now arrested for making threats to kill or hurt their classmates and teachers. Such comments and threats also are taboo subjects in business and professional settings.

The teacher from Bethlehelm is a role model and should have known better than to make such a statement. He showed a lack of common sense.

from UK's The Journal

Yesterday it emerged that Mr Albarq, a Palestinian-born father-of-one, of Selby Crescent, Darlington, was reported to his agency, Teaching Personnel, by a headteacher at another County Durham school last month.

Anne Lakey, head of Durham Community Business College for Technology and Enterprise in Ushaw Moor, said the college had complained to the agency that he allegedly talked to a science class about making bombs. She said: "A first complaint was made because Mr Albarq had not done the work he had been assigned. But after a parent phoned to say he had told a class how to make bombs out of golf balls and matchsticks, we made a second complaint.

It is outrageous that Mr. Mazin Albarq claims that there is any correlation between Islam and violent acts committed against unarmed civilians using explosives. What kind of a fantasyland is he living in?

Idiot. Unfortunately he is not the sole idiot in the teaching profession.

It looks like my suspicions about GW Bush's commitment to the war on terror were justified. To quote him from an October 3, 2005 speech:

"I think maybe there is only one god, Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet...Long live Al Qaeda, heroes of Allah."

Click here to hear his speech in its entirety.

RoP my *ss!

This was clearly a self deprecating joke -- You can't have SLAUGHTER without LAUGHTER after all -- and Allah knows best!

I think it actually was a joke. One doesn't generally associate Palestinians with humour, but this one is clearly not run of the mill. After all, he is described as 'a father of one'.

Special guest, that link you posted was to the Onion. The Onion is parody and no one in there right mind or with any maturity takes it seriously.

Nariz, I don't care if you think The Onion doesn't come up to your high standards of "journalistic integrity" or at least right-wing bias. I have always trusted the information I got there. You didn't hear about Bush's disgusting statements on Fox or MSNBC or the Wall Street Journal, did you? I rest my case.

Here's some more quotes from Bush: "They're starting to make sense to me...I don't know anymore if Jesus is really a savior".

Imagine if Clinton or Kerry had made a statement like that.

special_guest,

Your seat awaits on the little yellow bus.

Charles Bogle

special_guest, now I know why you are special. The short bus will be here anytime now.

Yeah, yeah, it's easy to make more personal attacks on The Onion and on me, but no-one is considering the outrageous content of Bush's speech.

He says:

"I'm going to become a suicide bomber .... because it's a holy war"

and you say I'm ready for the little yellow bus?
