SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian authorities believe they have foiled a major terrorist attack, arresting 15 people on Tuesday during raids in the country's two biggest cities of Sydney and Melbourne.The arrests come less than a week after Prime Minister John Howard said Australia received intelligence about a "terrorist threat."
"We believe ... we've disrupted a large-scale operation which, had it been allowed to go through to fruition, we certainly believe would have been catastrophic," New South Wales Police Commissioner Ken Moroney told Australian television.
Apparently, a worldwide jihad effort has been planned in advance. France is on fire, many countries in Europe are facing riots, Australia is on high alert and the US continues to wait on a major attack.

People say that this is not the time or place for recrimination and accusation when the enemy is on the gates or have already stormed the battlements… However, we can not fight in our front and simultaneously watch our backs. As a descendent of a conquered subjected people who suffered as much and as long as any under Islam, and as one who is well versed in the history of the Islamic conquests, I know that the success of the Muslims owes as much or even more to the treachery of a few cowardly, vindictive, spiteful, conniving scum who sold their people out than to the military prowess and ruthlessness of the Arab conquest machine. A convenient traitor with a grudge or greed always shows up before battle to guide the Muslims, weaken the resolve of the defenders, spread panic, and consul capitulation.
The West does not have a few turncoat cowards with a grudge against the decedent West, it has millions of them, each with his/her own story. The difference between Reuter's article and CNN's version is interesting.
The CNN version goes to painful lengths to avoid saying anything about who the arrested people were. The closest they came is "Rob Stary, a Melbourne lawyer who said he is representing eight people arrested in the city, said most of his clients in the case had been charged with being members of a banned organization, the Associated Press reports." Banned organization? Hmm, what could that mean?
At least the Reuter's version makes a passing reference: "Police have not identified any of those arrested, but one of them included outspoken Muslim cleric Abu Bakr, his lawyer Rob Stary told reporters."
There should be some concern here since the latest video coming in from Adam Gadansk and his apparent al-Qaeda connections states that:

And so it will be: the one who dies will always be someone else. If it happens that you die in a terrorist attack, you won't live to complain about it. If you live you'll be thankful. You'll go on with life.
The nature of things is that we will very likely avoid the immediate potential danger for the sake of our emotional security, recognizint the danger only at its most removed. Spencer cannot help us individually. We must do that ourselves. And to do so we must take the initiative in our own lives, stop concerning ourselves with over there and worry ourselves and our neighbours over our own towns and cities where we face a direct threat from real people who might actually harm us.
Spencer has given us the idea that we can and must organize at least study groups. Muslims are the concern of our police. Islam is something each of us can tackle directly, even in Australia. We can do that by inviting our neighbours in for coffee or by meeting in small groups at a local cafe or pub for an evening of chit-chat on the nature of jihad. Spence can only do so much. And we too can only do our own part. For the real work of stopping Islam it will take all of us, not just Spencer and Hugh, but you and your neighbours and the people you work with to change the collective mind of your community till jihad is not acceptable in your community.
Call up your friends for coffee. Invite them over for tea. Mention the book you're reading. Did you know that the Islmaic prophet Mohammed "married" a six year old girl? I saw it here in Robert Spencer's book.

One of the vermin arrested in these raids was a cleric. Abu Bakr, or Benbrika. He's come right out and said he admires OBL, thinks he's a great man. And has said that not only is he against Jews but against anybody who tries to harm his religion (which would probably include any little slight).
Unfortunately this slime is a dual citizen, but as far as I'm concerned he lied during his citizenship oath and his Aussie citizenship should be stripped, and he should be sent back to his more suitable Algeria. They really need to crack the skulls of scum like him. What's the worst thing that could happen to them? Not death, but to be sent back to their dumps of origin where they don't get welfare and all the freebies. Where, if they start causing trouble, their countries would lock them up in a rat-infested hole and torture them before breakfast every day. They get away with a lot here, and they know it. It is easy to befriend certain muslims, as long as there is no discussion of politics, or you don't watch the news or read the newspaper while being friends. I am in a competitive business, and I have had my back watched by muslim allies on more than one occasion. I have had muslim friends over for dinner, although I am ashamed to admit, I had to turn my anti-Islam books around for fear of offending them.
Taking a hard line against jihad does not mean hating all muslims!!! If we really hate, that emotion alone can destroy us. What good does it do to seethe with hatred?

Texan, sorry to hear about destroying your friendship educating people. I'd suggest not doing that, we need as many people awakened as possible, not reacting further into dhimmitude. My approach usually is a general vague hint in that direction to get people thinking. Something like "It's really interesting how all these conflicts always involve that religion...." or "Muslims again? I keep wondering if there's something wrong with that ideology/religion..". And I've won more people over to awakening that way. Simply by getting them to search for the facts themselves based on my vague musings.
If your friend said "But they're human beings too!", he's right. They are human beings. There's nothing genetically wrong with any of these people at all. It's the religious ideology they're being brainwashed, this ideology called Islam that tells them the world is divided between them (the believers) and the others who're worthless if they disbelieve, and should be made believers. That's what's wrong. For example, one could adopt a Muslim-born kid and bring him up as a normal human being (by making him devoid of any Islam).
In this fight against the religion of "peace" and what it's doing to our fellow humans, my fight is against this ideology of hatred. I hope I never lose my inherent humanity in fighting this Evil that's already poisoned 1/6th of humanity!

Your statement that you hate Leftists more than Muslims is quite sad. There is no reason why a Leftist should not find Islam abhorrent. It was completely suppressed in the USSR and still is suppressed in China. The leftist regimes in Arabia – although highly despotic, also showed the highest ability in combating militant Islam. For example, the least tormented Christian community in Arabia is actually in Syria. I'm not advocating any of these political systems but I really get tired of this American tendency to talk of the Islamist/Marxist threat, to link the two is a red herring. Tell me, why were the Soviets trying to impose a secular regime in Afghanistan, and why was Reagan going hell for leather supporting the Islamist insurgency there? Whilst in the 21st century the biggest factor for stoking up Islamist insurgency is the aimless occupation of Iraq. The right wing preoccupation with an oil based economy and complete opposition to alternative energy is also a great boon to the Saudis.
The left can be a problem when combating Islam, as can the American right. It is our job to convince Leftists that Islam is fascistic in nature; and there are some Leftists that actually get this. I remember one poster from Canada said he turned up for a demonstration against Sharia law, and found himself in the company of local Trotskyites. I saw a hijabed muslim woman on TV in Sydney who said that she was now racist, and that she hated Australia. She said that she never used to be racist before, but now that muslims have been arrested, she is racist now.
Any pretext -- Islam is not a race. She is a racist because Muslims have been arrested. Does that mean she believes that Muslims are above the law? Of course she does!

Would you believe an economic boom in Iraq despite the on-going insurgent attacks?
Well, you might believe it after you read an analysis by Michael Rubin, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, who contends that the reason you haven't heard the economic good news is because opponents of the American involvement in Iraq want you to think there's only bad news there.
Here's Rubin's case: Many Iraqis who couldn't get jobs under Saddam Hussein because of their ethnicity, sectarian identity, or refusal to join the Baath party, are now working. The private sector economy is booming because Iraqis are investing in it, with some of the money coming from family members abroad. Thriving banks, restaurants, and furniture stores now occupy what were abandoned stores last year.
Further: In August, new business startups in Iraq exceeded 30,000. Individual Iraqis are better off financially than they have been for 20 years. According to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, per capita income has doubled since the United States toppled the Saddam regime. There are more than 3.5 million cellular phone subscribers in Iraq, up from zero when Saddam ruled. Internet cafes are thriving in even small towns.
And so, on and on, according to Rubin, who has actually visited Iraq, unlike some of the harshest critics of the American involvement. His paper was dated yesterday, November 1st.
I checked around, and mainstream media has apparently missed this story entirely, except for the WaPo blog quoted above. Go figure.

I believe this is just the beginning. Now that they rekon theyre being persecuted, more and more of the scumbags will resort to the exact sort of 'peacefull' reactions to any attention on them.
And everyone I know who thinks its the minority that are the bad ones.. are about to learn the truth.
