Two men wearing traditional Islamic clothes were arrested on a train bound from Frankfurt to Amsterdam Tuesday after a scare over a suspicious package, police said.The men were arrested after the train came to an emergency stop near Amsterdam's central station in the late afternoon, but the package was harmless, Amsterdam police spokesman Gerard Vrooland said.
Passengers had alerted police after seeing the two-Dutch speaking men pacing the car and visiting the bathroom together.
"They were acting strangely, and they made people nervous by the way they behaved, coming and going to the bathroom together and carrying a large backpack," Vrooland said....
The incident came on the eve of first anniversary of the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by an Islamic radical, which a court ruled was an act of terrorism.

Do Muslims pray on trains? (I know they prey on trains - particularly passenger trains) Or is there a 7th century exemption for fast moving believers? Well how has Netherlands change since last Nov 2. I hope there is a memorial service for Van Gogh demanding full right for woman. No more beating woman no more circumsion of woman. No more Islamic fascism but all this alas may be too much to ask for?How about a www post for the victims of Islamic terror and for those threatened? Such a post would be useful for students and others to point out how vile the Islamic religion truly is. Freedom .

Borg - Australia on edge? I can tell you that many of us are pissed off. Thanks to Islam, we no longer have:-
1) Freedom of speech against other belief systems (although attacking Christianity is OK - see Daniel Scot)
2) We cannnot, once the new terror laws come in (which is why the PM is creating panic - he wants these laws in, but hey, he won't stop Muslim immigration either - I have had a letter refered to the Attorney General over the issue of Muslim immigration because I wouldn't take the PC crap reply from my local politician - so according to these new terror laws - I am probably a terrorist as I had a go at the government), we Aussies will not even be able to report terrorist acts, criticise the government etc. I have always been a Howard supporter - not that that matters, as Labor apporves of the terror laws also - but with one provision - they want to include "religious vilification" in them as well! (again - see Daniel Scot case in Victoria)
So thanks to Muslims, not the immigrant Hindu's, Budhist's, Taoist's, atheists, Christians etc we Aussies no longer have freedom.

Just heard on the news that there is a specific threat in Australia. Even Beazley, the leader of the Opposition said so, and looked as concerned as Howard. I suppose you could be cynical and say, oh they're just saying that to scare the anti-terror laws through, as many are saying. But what if Howard needs the laws passed in order to deal with this specific threat? If so, go for it. From what I've heard, we don't have the right laws in place right now to deal with such threats. We can't afford to sit around, having endless chin wags over it. We have to get going. Get them in place and rework as needed. This is all new, we're not going to get it right first go.
As for the Amsterdam panic, could be a dry run, or just arrogant, obnoxious behaviour. They know people are jumpy about Muslims with backpacks who act strangely. They probably enjoy the terror they cause. If they really cared about everyone, they'd be careful to not cause needless panic, but they don't care. We're filthy kafir to them.

Very interesting comments you make. Are you French ? I am. I am very surprised to find such a comment under a French keyboard, as it seems to me everybody in France thinks the same. I am also very irritated by the way the French media relate the events but I think they are just very unclever and ignorant. Too bad they are the only ones to talk on TV and on the radio. According to them, the monsters are the Americans, and the good ones are the Arabs. They barely mentioned the death of that 56 year old man who was beaten to death in front of his daughter and his wife. What was his crime ? He was taking photographies of street lamps, in one of the suburbs. It happened I think 3 days ago. Nobody in the street intervened to save him, protect him. He died. Pure crime of hatred.

But what concerns me most is not that some people are criminals. What I find concerning is that the French society is rotten inside, scared, and that nobody has the courage to face reality and to denounce those individuals who steal, deal drugs, rape and sometimes, kill. Our politicians are scared and it is visible on their face. The media is not scandalised because a man was killed in the street, for no reason. They are very scandalised because Nicolas Sarkozy (our Minister of Domestic Affairs) used words that they found a bit "harsh".
No wonder why 20 % of the French people voted for extreme right in 2002. And one can expect that situation to become worse, unfortunately. I am not very optimistic when I observe how the French society evolves, the mentalities, the media stupidity and the cowardness of our politicians who clearly dont do their job correctly. When I ask people around me, people of my age and of course younger (I am 30), 90 % of them simply hate the USA. I find it very concerning. The image they have of the USA and the situation in the world is inaccurate. According to them (and they repeat the propaganda of the school/ university teachers and of the media), all the problems on the surface of the earth come from the USA, Mr. Bush being the ultimate symbol of Evil.
Now, the journalists directly accuse the police and no later than yesterday, on TV, one of the "youth" was saying that "the mere fact that the police come into those suburbs is a provocation and hence it is normal that the youth get angry, and burn cars".
I am sure I was not the only one to be angry when I heard that nonsense. The police have become the fascists, and the youth who break everything during the night and scare the inhabitants of the suburbs, the youth are poor little kids who are provoked by the police ! The debate during that TV program ran about "is the police dangerous ? is Nicolas Sarkozy dangerous ?" - and that was it !
There would be a lot to say about the way the French people just choose to ignore the real problems. However, when you speak to people in private, they are not particularly pro Islam... I spoke to many people about the riots and they were all agreeing about the fact that it has to stop and that those delinquants must be stopped. However, it seems that nobody -except Sarkozy- has the courage to do something about it.
Without being a specialist on the matter, I can tell you that the situation is not going to improve. I can predict big problems in the years to come and the more we wait, the worse it will become. As a matter of fact, immigration will go on and we dont have any job to give to those people; we already have 10 % unemployement. Who wants to employ an unqualified guy who does not even speak French ? Especially as there are no unqualified jobs to offer ! Our companies now hire people from the East -who are much cheaper- for their unqualified jobs. Hence the newcomers to France will find themselves here with no hope, and will continue living on the State money (without any scruple) and they will not grow to love France, no, neither will they grow to love our western values which anyway seem to disappear, as if we were ashamed of our own heritage, history, christianity, Law. So those people will be here, in France, without a job, and more and more numerous. Some of them will of course become delinquants. Some of them will become real part of the French society and it is good. But not enough of them. The French State will do nothing about the situation and that is how a civilisation disappears. When cynicism invades the minds and the hearts... when the kids dont respect the olders any longer... a lot of people around me openly rejoiced on 11 sept., because some Americans had died.
Of course, there are still reasonable people in France. But I find it less and less easy to breathe here, in Paris. I feel personally hurt by what is happening in my country, the slow transformation of the French mentalities. I find it dangerous.
