Christopher Hitchens tore apart Galloway in a debate organised atsome univ in Colorado. Was a treat to weatch. Galloway is a bum, scum and a wastrel. Honesty has no meaning and integrity no existence in this he-man's world. Sadly, democracy, such as it is, will give this man a seat in British parliament and a egaphone to further inflame foolishness around the world.

Notice what he focuses on: oil, gas, and water. In other words, that is all the Arabs of this "great empire" have to offer. They cannot offer let's say, technology, services, or education. As much of a lickspittle Gallawi is to the Arabs, he doesn't praise them for their drive, their individuality, their work ethic, or their genius. No, he thinks these natural resources and their Arabness is enough to counterbalance the United States (and possibly the EU). But what about the infidels? Afterall, who will manage and process all of these resources for the "Arab Union"? Due to his George of Arabia complex, Gallawi cannot see how Islam hinders the Arabs from competing in the world market. Fatalism and the crass ignorance promoted by Islam are the reason why Arabs are in the situation they are in today, not the lack of Arab "unity".

I was trying / failing to be sarcastic as the English people have no Parliament - just a hotch potch affair whereby Scottish & Welsh MPs actually vote on legislation that does not effect the Scottish or Welsh one bit, only the English.
Blair has used the votes of Scottish / Welsh MPs to introduce legislation that only effects the English on numerous occasions - Health & Education being 2 - big areas of massive disagreement.
This outrage only works one way - the English have no voting rights on Scottish legislation since the realisation of Holyrood - the Scottish Parliament.
No English Parliament for the English People - yet, but this blatant racism against the English is not going un-noticed.
As much as the Scottish & the Welsh dislike the English, they still do not mind having their countries paid for out of English taxes - unfair taxes since the introduction in 1997 (second order of business) of the Barnett Formula. This, in essence, states that the English must pay more taxes than the Scottish or the Welsh to make up for "an historical inbalance of investment from Westminster to Scotland & Wales".
This racist legislation carries on to this day, with no date set for repeal or review.
Can you imagine any other section of "Britsh" society that would put up with that, being singled out for "special taxes" to pay for other Nationalities in that society?

Yes. The US has sent over evidence & documents to our Parliamentary Standards Committee for their perusal.
The establishment here are eager & anxious to collect real evidence against him & will, given half a chance, prosecute him to the full letter of the law.
Then there are the libel damages he has won off the back of the background allegations against him.
Several leading papers & publishers would love the chance to win their money back - & it has precedence here.

There is an odd, but consistent, irrationality in Galloway's commentary; and this irrationality has some structure and is related to strong emotional attachments of both approval and hatred. One can detect this same kind of irrationality in other presumed non-Muslims who proclaim ideological affinity with Islam, as Galloway obviously does; what he believes, what he stands for, whatever that is, are entirely in line with the goals, the principles, the ideals of the Islamic cause.
Scary stuff, of course. One comes away dizzy. What does one say in response? It just doesn't make sense.
But don't we see this same kind of irrationality in others non-Muslims who want to be 'Muslim' in some significant way? Perhaps social scientists should begin to study this irrational cycle of inconsistent believes and the conflicting emotions. There is content here: anti-Semitism, paranoia, anything to do with Islam is either acceptable or 'understandable', the West is ruled by imperial tyrants, etc.: we may have an identifiable pathology here.

However, another loudmouth Saddamophile, one Padre Benjamin, a Catholic priest in Italy of French origin, has been discovered to have received money from Saddam's oil allocations. This came out in the Italian business paper, Il Sole-24Ore, not long ago. Padre Benjamin had a secret Swiss bank account into which a Swiss lawyer, an agent of the Hussein family, deposited money from the sale of an oil allocation provided to Padre Benjamin by Saddam & Co. Most likely, al-Gallawi got money from Saddam in the same way. By the way, this priest also denied getting Iraqi money, just as Galloway denied it.
