A useful analysis of the France riots from Olivier Guitta in the Weekly Standard (thanks to Gabrielle Goldwater):
THE FRENCH USE THE EUPHEMISM "quartiers sensibles"--sensitive neighborhoods--for the troubled, predominantly Arab and African working-class suburbs of Paris and other cities that increasingly resemble a ticking bomb at the heart of their society. One such sensitive neighborhood is Clichy-sous-Bois, nine miles northeast of Paris, where last week's string of nightly riots began. Two Muslim youths--one black, one Arab--were electrocuted at a power relay station on October 27. The circumstances are sketchy: Were the youths being chased by the police because they were suspects in a break-in? Were they being chased for no reason? Or were they--as Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy claims, and the preliminary report of the prosecutor has now confirmed--never pursued by the police at all?
For the time being, what is certain is that the rumor that innocent youths had died as a result of police harassment spread like wildfire. Local residents called their friends in other neighborhoods and urged them to join the upcoming fight against the state. In fact, the first people attacked by the mob were the firemen who went to the power relay station to rescue the youths. The firemen, greeted by a barrage of stones, could not treat the victims on the spot but retreated to their trucks and drove the youths to a nearby trauma center.
Later, some 400 young men started trashing the town, burning cars, vandalizing a school, a mall, the post office, the fire station, bus shelters. They even tried to enter the town hall but were prevented by police. Fighting broke out when 300 antiriot forces entered Clichy and were met with Molotov cocktails and stones and even a live gunshot.
Seven cops were injured, and witnesses described the scene as "guerrilla warfare." Philosopher Jean-François Mattei spoke of "urban barbarity." In the eight nights of rioting that, at this writing, have ensued, in Clichy-sous-Bois and other Paris suburbs, about 1,224 cars were burned and numerous youths arrested. Three journalists from French TV had to abandon their car after they were threatened by the mob, which proceeded to torch the car along with an auto dealership, a preschool, and a gym. Another four gunshots were fired at cops and firemen, and two commuter trains were attacked.
One police-union leader, writing to Interior Minister Sarkozy, declared, "A civil war is unfolding in Clichy-sous-Bois. We cannot handle the challenge any longer. Only the Army, trained and equipped for this type of mission, can intervene to stabilize the situation."
Yet despite all the national and international headlines they occasioned, last week's disturbances were no freak occurrence. For at least 15 years, the immigrant and first-generation suburbs around France's large and medium-sized cities have been out of control. Crime rates have gone through the roof: According to the Renseignements Généraux, a division of the police, 70,000 violent crimes have been recorded in urban settings since the beginning of the year. They include the torching of more than 28,000 cars and 17,500 trash bins. According to the Interior Ministry, some 9,000 police cars have been stoned by youths this year.
And property is not the only target. On October 27, the day the two died in Clichy-sous-Bois, three young thugs in another Paris suburb savagely killed a 56-year-old Frenchman who was photographing a lamppost. Plenty of witnesses were around, but none came forward to testify. The attackers were trying either to steal the man's digital camera or to "protect their turf" from an intruder. Ten days earlier, in Vaulx-en-Velin, a suburb of France's second largest city, Lyon, the police chased two teenagers on a stolen scooter and one fell and hurt his ankle. The rumor spread that he was in a coma because of the cops. A few nights of rioting ensued, with violent faceoffs between teens and police on the exact spot where similar, serious rioting occurred 15 years ago.
Read it all.
I wonder what the mood is right now for Turkish accession to the EU.....Imagine if these riots happened AFTER the accession..... I bet anywhere in europe (non0ghettoized parts, that is) where ANY referendum is held on the turkey accession question (why is it even a qustion at all?) will be resoundingly defeated by the civilized majority.
Also, Could Mr Spencer pls have a 'jihad-thermo-meter' putup with an appropriate color coding scheme? Am sure Parisian suburbs would be red hot right now.... Entire countries, or provinces or cities could be color-coded for jihad-temperature..... Believe me, that'll bring in much needed awareness and publicity to this site.
/Just a thought
Also, check out some google earth photos of the riot hit areas......
Los Angeles 2003: Population 3, 819,951
The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 48,824.
The town of Clichy-Sous-Bois has a population of 28,000 and their violent crime rate is 70,000.
France really has no room to talk about America and its crime ridden cities. Los Angeles has plenty of poor immigrant and nonimmigrant neighborhoods and plenty of crime......but who would have known about France's dirty little secret....interesting to say the least.
Either way.....no excuse for any population in any country to destroy their neighborhoods and think the world will fill sorry for them. Now if it was happening in an American city.....Oh....how the world would have trashed us Americans... day in .... and day out! Remember KATRINA.........Those rich Americans...who would have ever thought there would be or should be poor people in their country!
IT IS CALLED.....I LIKE SITTING AROUND AND COLLECTING MY MONTHLY CHECK.....AND CRYING ABOUT HOW I AM MISTREATED BY THE MASSES WHO HAVE THINGS THAT I WILL NOT WORK FOR!
As a Cole Porter fan, I am embarrassed that I
didn't think of that headline. Touche Robert!
I'm sure that went over the heads of most JWers,
content to think that "big man, pig man, ha ha,
charade you are" is the height of Western popular music ;-).
Of course, Cole Porter, being gay, could not
be allowed to live in Mohammadville. I wonder what he would have thought of Paris now?
I noticed that the horrific incident in which the muslim savages deliberately doused and set alight a disabled women has already been sanitized by the New Duranty Times. The story made it sound like she was the unfortunate victim of a tragic accident.
WHY?? For what reason is this being done? What saudi financier, what multiculturist demigod is the NDT trying to please? This is insane. Why would anyone want to be deliberately deceived? Why do so many local papers across the U.S. regurgitate this sewage from the NDT?
Trying to parse the actions of a mob -- especially attributing "motives" and "intentions" is not rational. Though the overarching goals of Islamic conquest are served by these violent predominantly Muslim riots -- the immediate participants are little more than frenzied beasts -- out of control -- feeding on each others rage and hysteria -- Certain reports do refer to "planning" and others refer to agents in the shadows coordinating the insurrection -- If this is true, then THAT is the fare more important story -- It's also well worth examining the hateful indoctrination Muslims recieved in their "Mosques" (fascism education centers), andthe culture which exists in their Muslim anti-Western anti-French homes which helped to stoke the rage and hatred of these "youths."
Also, as tempting as it is to lash the arrogant French, and throw their anti-American filth right back in their faces -- their endless holier than thou accusations of American Imperialism -- their utterly hypocritical indictments of American bigotry and racism -- despite these tempting opportunities to sling their filth right back at their arrogant noses, one hopes they also examing this non-assimilating Muslim populations culural allergy to non-Islamic cultures and religion, and the extent that this exacerbated their children to refuse work, refuse education, refuse assimilation. What made these pious Muslim children fall in love with the idea that they are the victims of infidel hatred ? What led them to embrace the idea that their squalor and poverty is the result of conspiracies of haves against have-nots -- All ignorant underachieving underclasses resort to such face saving lies, projections, and attributions in order to feel better about their lot. But the Muslim case if far more insidious and poses existential threats, whereas the typical communistic leftist construct clearly no longer does...
This exposes part of the insidious nexus that exists between leftism which blames the wealthy for the poor man's plight, and the Muslim which blames non-Muslims for the blight of their own slovenly gutter culture. In this regard, the looters and rioters in the aftermath of Katrina, and the Muslim hoodlums roaming and burning in Paris are no different -- the same mindless beast is afoot -- or ahoof if you will... Both lash out at imagined victimizers, both turn away from their own responsibility in their respective plights...
But the Islamist 'cede to us our rightfully conquered Muslim territory and all will be OK' mantra cannot be appeased -- they will view each concession as a victory -- not a reason to stop hostilities, but encouragement to do more violence, wreak more damage, cause more terror, make more demands. The Muslim appears to be immune to criticism, unable to see his own Islamic complicity in his utter and complete failures as citizen and civilization.... The left could be defeated through attrition and shame, but the Muslim has developed mechanisms to prevent apostacy and enforce fealty through indoctrination and terror. Had the communists relentlessly submitted their slaves to 5- times-a-day communist indoctrination, and followed it with threats of expulsion, ostracism, and death if the adherent showed signs of apostacy (as we see in China or North Korea) then communism would still pose and existential threat to the West...
So far, the French appear to be in their typical appeasing and surrendering posture -- Much will hinge on their immediate actions contending with this horror --
But, with the likes of Chirac and DeVillepain in charge - France has little hope of success. France has always been cursed with horrible leadership in times of crisis -- History has delivered up the worst men again, to deal with the worst threats in the worst way possible.
Watch the French actions and learn. A new law of parsimony could be imagined to save time and guarantee success in politics: Think 'what would the French do in this situation?' and then do the exact opposite, it would be like a new Ockham's Razor for politics... You'd almost inevitably be successful in your endeavor if you do the opposite of the French...
Not every Muslim is a terorist, but every terorist is a Muslim,in Allahs name!!Who the hell is this allah,a god ,a demi god,Satan itself?Must be because he have murderous folowers who worship death more then life!!Their death wish is stronger then life wish, and they are slaves of allah!Slaves not belivers!!Some god!
Thomas
Not every muslim is a terrorst but virtually all muslims work to further the Jihad. The Jihadis and the moderates, they work in concert, each in his own way to further islam.
It is noticeable that after every terrorist outrage, the moderates are out expaining islam, and demanding concessions which lead to further dhimmification.
They're setting Paris ablaze again for the 10th night. What will it take for the French to go in with guns to clear out the "scum" living in the suburbs? How many "disabled victims" set on fire will it take before Chirac & Co. take action?
This is just the calm before the storm and they don't give a damn.
