I returned to the U.S. yesterday and have been busy catching up on a mountain of calls and emails. My heartfelt thanks to Jihad Watch News Editors Anne Crockett, Rebecca Bynum, Eric Schwappach and Patrick Devenny for keeping you up-to-date on the latest news from the wonderful world of the global jihad. Unfortunately, there is never a shortage of acceptable material for both the Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch sides of this site. My fondest hope is that someday, like the state under Communism, this site would wither away, having nothing to report; however, the likelihood of that happening is about as probable as was that Marxist fantasy.
Anyway, today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, and there is, despite the ever-gathering clouds, much for which to be thankful. I am grateful that:
1. Although there have been several notable attempts at another large-scale jihad terrorist attack in the United States, they have all so far been thwarted;
2. Attacks in Britain, France and elsewhere have resulted not solely in calls for dhimmi capitulation, but also in increased resolve in the face of a menace that is becoming increasingly clear;
3. As the wholly unexpected popularity of my latest book indicates, despite the ever-stifling politically correct lockstep in the mainstream media (both left and right) about Islamic terrorism, more and more people are awakening to the truth and speaking out -- like Solzhenitsyn's blades of grass poking through the concrete;
4. This site continues to gain readers, which encourages me, since I don't know of any other site that does exactly what we do: reports on jihad activity all over the world, against Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, and others, and explains the news stories in light of the larger goals of the jihad movement. In November we are averaging around 500,000 hits every day -- about 25,000 visitors daily, if I am reading these charts correctly -- and that is more than we have ever had. I have also been consulted in the past few months by a Senate committee, a Congressman, and reporters from the BBC, ABC, the Washington Post, and others.
5. As the jihadists continue their activity around the world, they daily make it more difficult for their Muslim and non-Muslim apologists to continue to deflect attention from the fact that we are engaged in a war to defend notions of universal rights and equality of dignity of all people, which rights the jihadists are determined to subvert.
And for what are you thankful?
I'm thankful your book is making the rounds. Not to suck up, but it's one antedote to PC dhimmitude which is long overdue. I'm also grateful I found your website when I began to search Islamic theology with zeal. That was on or about September 12th, 2001.
If only Chris Matthews (et al) were as intellectually curious.
I don't think I've ever appreciated being an American citizen more than I do this Thanksgiving. It's a burden having most of the world constantly obsessing over and complaining about us. But it's the inevitable burden of strength and leadership.
Before I found Jihad Watch I'd already concluded the "Religion of Peace" (TM) meme was based on subjugating the non-Muslim population. You taught me they actually admit that's the plan. I was shocked someone could publish such a thing and find themselves welcome in free nations.
Good morning, Happy Thanksgiving, and pleased that you continue to speak out!

Stay Safe, everyone!
I am thankful for my wonderful family.
I am grateful for this website and Robert Spencer's books--I have learned so much about this horrible threat we face from Islam.
I'm thankful for small mercies. Usually a safe bet.
I am thankful for all your hard work, and I am Very thankful for each "blade of grass" that stands unfraid of speaking the truth about Islam.
This journey has just begun and it will be a long one. I am thankful that I will be walking it will the fine people here and elsewhere.
Peace Through Strength
I'm thankful for the moral support I find here, and the sense that I am not alone.
It's not me that's mad.
Thank you
I recall my college days when I used to voice my opinion to mostly deaf ears, except for my Italian-German girlfriend at the time who actually understood where I was coming from(perhaps because she was a South Asian Studies Major in college).
However, recently I ran into an old college buddy who reminded me that I always said that Islam would attack the US and not just once, he went further to say that when 9/11 happened my words rang in his ears and he began to awake from the coma of denial.
I am thankful for many things, I am thankful that my Rajput ancestors never gave up in the face of Islam and fought to the death for their liberty and freedom.
I am thankful that our women showed Islam that they are also a worthy opponent and will not give up their rights as silent victims but instead defeat the Islamic hordes on the battlefield, both physically (Queen Karam Devi of Chittor) and morally (Queen Durgavati of Gondwana).
I am thankful for nations like the United States, where I wish to make a home one day, that allow the freedom of religion, speech and human rights, unlike the Islamic nations which stand today as a symbol of tyranny, persecution and genocide.
I am thankful to you, Mr. Spencer, your staff and friends for carrying on the good fight at a time when I thought there was really no hope and that the Islamists have won the propaganda war by spewing lies and distortions on television to a western public which refuses to go out and do its own research instead of simply listening to politically correct (useless) media.
Ayush Man Bhava is my Sanskrit prayer for you, hopefully you will open the eyes of many more so that together we can stop this injustice from taking over our lives and becoming a threat to the civilized world.
Thank you Mr. Spencer, Mr. Fitzgerald and the staff of JW/DW.
Cheers,
The Gorkhali
Jai Maha-Kali
Ayo Gorkhali
Have a happy Thanksgiving Robert Spencer! l am eternally grateful for your hard work, and risks you are taking to educate the world of the dangers that islam poses on civilization! Those blades of grass are becoming a sea of grass!
You are quite correct, Granny Weatherswax: it is I who am mad.
Mad, but thankful for a perfectly still morning under low clouds, a dusting of snow, a safe family, gallons of egg nog, and the Internet--the great freedom machine.
Welcome home, Mr. Spencer. This Thansgiving I sit at this virtual table, thankful for my new friends, filled with the exhilaration of open, raucus debate, new knowledge, new trails to be followed to new voices, new subjects, new pearls of wisdom, whether the cerebral version of the treasure of the Atocha or all caps and every line ending in three question marks.
I wish I could invite SuperGran and all the rest who reside outside these borders to my house today, there is room on the sofa, some can sit at the bar, a few could eat standing up in the kitchen I suppose, bring some folding chairs if you have them, and whatever you're drinking, I'll have good beer and ale.
I'm also thankful for all the things everyone else has mentioned. The fact that we have the freedom to view fantastic sites such as these, comment on them, and know that we're not a lone voice in the wilderness. I knew something wasn't right soon after 9/11. The whole "Islam is Peace" thing just didn't sit right with me, and it was rather disconcerting to realize that I was the only person I knew who felt that way back then. So finding sites such as this and others was such a relief. As Granny says, it was great to realize I wasn't mad, or paranoid.
I'm thankful there are many like us out there, and that we're getting the word out, and that our numbers are increasing.
I'm thankful our government here in Australia seems to have some backbone when it comes to Islam, and that we've aligned ourselves with America, versus kneeling before the UN and the EU.
So even though I'm not American, I'm thankful for you Americans (or Yanks, as we like to call you here) and for your great country, America. Without you, I shudder to think where we'd be, with the likes of only the EU and UN to guide us. It's too scary to think of that.
Happy Thanksgiving America. Stay safe.
I'm thankful that the internet is not controlled and censored like the MSM. And I wish the US would build a fence like Israel along our southern borders.
Granny:
There may be many more of "us" than we realize. See Carol Gould's piece on frontpagemag.com today on "London's poppy-less Little Beirut": http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=20295
Gorkhali,
You made me cry! I am very thankful for people like you who have the spirit of our American Revolutionary War Heroes who said, "I will not submit to tyranny. I am free and I will fight to the death to keep my God-given gift of freedom."
I am thankful for all the good people on this site who remind me regularly that I am not losing my mind, that in the real world up is still up and down is still down, no matter how the people who want to destroy us lie about it and how much the liberals and media in this country try to control what we think.
I am also thankful for my wonderful family and this awesome weekend that I look forward to every year. (THREE WHOLE NIGHTS to stay up late and chat on JW!!!)
And I thank God, who gave us our great country and the great men who had the foresight to give us our constitution to protect our freedoms. And I also thank God for all our soldiers overseas who won't be home today eating family favorites and watching football games but who make our world safe, so we can.
BTW, someone sent me a very cool link,
www.treatsfortroops.com.
If you go there, you can order a goodies pack for a guy or gal in the military who is overseas and you can send them cookies, snacks, personal items, phone cards, etc., all packaged and ready to go and you can even send them a little note. You can pick out your servicemember and you'll get their name and a little information about them so it's personal. I'm short on cash this year because I just started a new business, but I felt it was important to send someone a little something. My guy's name is Stephen and he has a wife and a little baby and when I thought of him not being near them today, I just wanted to send him something that reminded him of home and that I am so thankful he is protecting me and my family. That made me cry too. I am just a misty mess this week!!
But seriously, thanks for letting me participate here and God bless you all on this wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
Happy Thanksgiving, and God bless all those at JW/DW, and to all who are fighting against global islamic oppression.
i'm thankful for all those serving in the military and protecting our way of life. i'm thankful for people like robert spencer, daniel pipes, ali sina, hirsi ali, ibn wariq, and all others that are in the forefront warning those in charge of the dangers being faced.
happy thanksgiving everyone ,and thank you Robert for your tireless work . while i dont post much ,i visit this site everyday and learn more and more each day .i have been on here for almost 2 years
Mr Spencer, I too would like to thank you for your work.
Although a lot of it does not sit well with me, I know that that is not your fault. I hope your impartiality (in terms of non-racism, colour of skin) continues and that you are comfortable with what you are doing in your own mind.
Muslims CAN learn a lot here, and come to appreciate some home truths...albiet slowly.
Equally, the one thing I hope is that blatant broadbrush ...wipe 1.2billion people kind rubbish can stop too.
I give thanks for many things, including my family, God's marvelous creations and blessings, freedom of speech, this website, America the Beautiful, our soldiers, art, music, wine, our sheepdogs (the human ones), people who are brave and strong and committed. I am thankful that the tide is turning, and that more people are defending our country's amazing values of liberty, freedom, and individual human rights.
A heartfelt Happy homecomming toyou my hero-Spencer-'The Braveheart'! A happy Thanks Giving to you, your co workers, and readers of all JWandDW sites.
I am greatful and thankfull to the True God ,and His Son Jesus for revealing that they are Peace loving not revengeful as I was taught in my old cult, which I discarded after going through the eye-opening writings of the authors, and comentators of JEHAD WATCH, DHIMMI WATCH.
I am also thankful to Ali SINA of Faith freedom.org to give me the boldness to come away from the clutches of a dreadful, blood-thirlsty cult.
I am thankful for the "Tolarant and civilised minds 'of the peaceloving followers of Christian,Jewish, hindu, budhist religionists ,who live pecefully in USA,Canada,Europe, and for their tolerant attidude,in times of terror and destruction, such as Sept11. 7/7 .French burnings,Holland killings, etc.
I am also thankful for my stern faith and belief that the Evil ,which we face will be routed out completly and Truth and peace will prevail in the whole world.
In November we are averaging around 500,000 hits every day -- about 25,000 visitors daily, if I am reading these charts correctly -- and that is more than we have ever had.
Robert at November 24, 2005 03:55 AM
Dear Robert,
I am happy that your site is read about half a million times a day. May God Almighty increase it to millions a day.
I read some news very disturbing regarding the future of free discussion on the Internet. From http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/23/AR2005112302200_2.html
We have:
===
the head of phone giant SBC Communications Inc., Edward E. Whitacre Jr., was a little more plain-spoken in an interview in Business Week.
"Now what they [Google, Yahoo, MSN] would like to do is use my pipes free, but I ain't going to let them do that because we have spent this capital and we have to have a return on it," Whitacre said. "So there's going to have to be some mechanism for these people who use these pipes to pay for the portion they're using."
…
A coalition of tech companies that includes Microsoft, Yahoo, Amazon, Google, Ebay Inc. and IAC/InterActive Corp., argues that the issue is bigger than straight-up discrimination.
What if, they say, the Internet service providers decide to reserve 90 percent of their bandwidth for their own services, and leave 10 percent for the rest?

Looks like “Free Market” clashes with “Free expression?” May be there is no need for Jihad; the free market economy is enough to stifle freedom.
I am thankful for
1. My family is alive and healthy
2. My country (I can go to church) without being shot or be-headed..
3. My many blessings (I have a job) and good food and clothes a lot in the world do not..
4. That we as a nation are still free from Islamic Tyranny and Oppression.
5. My Wife (been married for over 20 years) thats a lot to put up with someone like me... :)
6. My sons talents which are many.
7. We havent been attacked since 9/11
8. Our Military who in SPITE of ALL the MEDIAS attempt to get them to give up they have suffered bled and died for our freedoms
We are not deserving of so many blessings, freedoms and the sacrifices that our Military makes for us...
9. Our President (i dont know that i would have the kind of strength) that he has shown over the years with everyone blaming him for everything...
It takes a very special man (strong in the inner spirit) to withstand the kind of pressures that everyone is placing on him.
10. Israel for without here christians wouldnt be here... (they also need our prayers).
I am thankful that my daughters live in a nation that respects them, and affords them every freedom and opportunity for advancement that they may consider.
I am thankful that I live in a nation that respects the rights of minorities, dissenters, and those that disagree with the prevailing attitudes.
I am thankful for the bravery and wisdom of the Founding Fathers; not only those that founded America, but those that have forged Western Civilization from church-states and personality cults that held no value for individuality:
Galileo
Renee Descartes
David Hume
John Locke
Voltaire
Robspierre
Benjamin Franklin
Thomas Paine
Thomas Jefferson
John Allen
Jeremey Bentham
John Stuart Mill
Abraham Lincoln
Winston Churchill
David Ben Gurion
Franklin Roosevelt
Lech Walenza
Mikhail Gorbachev
Leonard Rossiter
Waterdragon, Thanks for pointing me to that article. I have seen an elderly and very dignified Sikh gentleman selling poppys from a tray (an image so ingrained in our culture that it became a Beatles lyric, in Penny Lane, only they sang of a pretty nurse)near the british Legion. So far as the taxi driver who escorted Caro Gould fromthe Edware Road is concerned, many London cabbies (and as a child I knew a lot of them) are Jewish.
T-ham, a cyberbeer would be delightful!
Today, mostly, I am thankful for my Mom. She is a saint.
Everyday, I am thankful I was not born into Islam.
Mohideen,
You need to read the article a little more closely. They are talking about a PROPOSED fiber network. Considering the bandwidth that fiber optic cables offer over copper, and considering that they have to build an entirely new network and pay for it somehow, they can keep 90% of the bandwidth. Sign me up NOW, NOW, NOW!
Remember, unlike most of world, in the U.S., private companies, using private money, not the government, built the massive communications infrastructure here.
As a reader, I am thankful for Gutenburg. The invention of moveable type eventually led to affordable books and (near) universal literacy in the West.

Robert, welcome back. I am thankful for all the people, both living and dead, who have made it possible for us to be free and enjoy the bounty that God's earth has to offer.
Thankful for my 2 cats' whiskers, wet nozzles, and silly stares; thanful for their nesting on top of my old bones at night;
thankful for the MIGs and jets flying over my head all day today, keeping watch that we be safe;thankful for being free, which is what JW and DW are all about
I am thankful for so many things I can't count them all, but I am incredibly grateful for our brave troops, for you and this website, for all the people who come here, learn the truth, and teach what they have learned to others.
When every rational, sane, intelligent American learns the truth about Islam and its agenda, there is no doubt in my mind that we will pulverize the Islamic beast. More than anything, I am thankful that I was not born into the miserable cult of hate and death, and that my heart is not filled with anger, resentment, fear and endless conspiracy theories. I wouldn't wish the desolation of Islam on my worst enemy.
"...more and more people are awakening to the truth and speaking out -- like Solzhenitsyn's blades of grass poking through the concrete..."
Yet another reason why I like this site: Excellent writing.
Welcome back Mr. Spencer.
To American readers: Happy Thanksgiving.
I am thankful to live in the United States a place where all citizens can enjoy freedom of religion or freedom from religion. It's always our choice.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Jihadwatchers.
"the free market economy is enough to stifle freedom." Mohideen, think about it; if they reserve 90% of their bandwidth for themselves, where is the profit? The corporations have to answer to their stockholders and show a profit, unlike Islamic countries where the rulers can keep 90% of the profits and leave their countrymen in a third world nation. The purpose of democratic free trade is to enrich everybody, not just a priveleged few.
Happy thanks giving from El Cid and family.
I give thanks for living in a free country and the blessings of my wonderful family.
I am sitting in my beautiful home, surrounded by friends and famliiy.. as I sit by the fireplace sipping my favorite wine, I wonder if my grandchildren will enjoy the same.
This is why we must wake up the world to the growing Islamic threat.
Welcome back Robert
thank you Robert Spencer for giving us all a voice, thank you america for freedom!!! im a brit, and now live in the US and i love the freedom here, britain is sadly corrupt, run by marxists and under influence of hard right islamic fundamentalists. you guys (americans) are a long way from that but never give these medieval pigs an inch or they'll take a mile. remember their religion is a mere cult, an invention for the slavery of their fellow man. love freedom, liberty and democracy. God bless the USA and long live england!!! Thank you.
ps.
thank you to my beautiful wife!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you too Robert, Hugh and all the Jihad Watch posters !
I am thankful in general to be an American. Thanksgiving is a unique American holiday that actually goes back thousands of years. I am thankful to be celebrating this sacred day that gives thanks to life. To have the power to celebrate pagan holidays not known to the Islamic World.
Unlike over a billion people on this planet I am not bound by an ancient religious totalitarian dogma. I can think what I want to. That indeed is a powerful freedom.
Steve Coleman a socialist and historian at Oxford once said " The ruling class can take away our civil liberties, than can take away the wealth we generate....but the one thing they cannot take from us is our ability to THINK. "
The same cannot be said for the masses in Islamic nations. The ruling class in those nations do in fact strip the population of it's ability to think under the rubic of " protecting Islam ".
So as silly as it may sound to my fellow Americans, the one thing I am most thankful for on this ancient sacred day of celebration is my ability and freedom to THINK!
Great is the love of Mother Earth,
Free is the spirit of man.
Nossy
feralee,
all freedom lovers here find immense comfort in the courage you guys display. Thank you and stay safe yourself.
Gorkhali:
Please tell us some more about those brave women and men you're writing about. The world needs to know.
Thank you.
rafia,
I'm thankful for you.
Hey you, jingoist man,
You cracked me up with your list. I thank you for being who you are.
I'm thankful that Archimedes is such a skillful writer, as I have plagerized much of his work.
kj,
add Vaclav Havel to your list. I, for one, wouldn't be here, writing to you, without him.
"Thankyou for the World so sweet
Thank you for the food we eat
Thank you for the birds that sing
Thank you LORD for everything"
Amen
Imam Mufti Ebrahim Desasi said: "... Celebrating Thanksgiving.is..accepting American culture. In view of the above,it is not permissible to celebrate thanksgiving day". Who the heck is this guy to give permission to Americans ,as to what to celebrate and what not to celebreate.? These Imams come to our country with a vengence in their hearts,,and a begging bowl in their hands, establish well here-thanks to our freedom and tolerance. In canada one Somali Imam gave instructions to all Canadian Muslims NOT of wish "happy Christmas" to christians on christmas day,as it is a sin in Islam. Who cares for their wishes in the first place and seconly,it shows their way of "gratitude" to repay for our accomodating them inspite of the open hatred they show to us in our own countries. They think they can go on like this for ever, but every western country has realised that tolerance has a limit. This Imam should know this is our way of showing gratitude to God and the Natives, who accomodated us. The Imam and his evil clan's way of showing gratitude for accamodating them is ; Sep.11,7/7.,bali bombibg,Russian school children murders,New delhi suicide bombms,Pakistan churches burning,in spite of swollowing billions of aids from christian countries, and on and on and on.!!
