Tehran, Iran, Nov. 25 – Radical Islamists allied with hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called this week for Iran to confront United States forces in Iraq.Ansar-e Hezbollah, an ultra-conservative government-run body fiercely loyal to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, wrote in the latest edition of its weekly paper Yatharat al-Hossein that Iran had a religious duty to defend the “occupied lands of Iraq”.
“Our strategy in the occupied lands of Iraq, taking into consideration the efforts by America to take complete control of the country with the second largest oil reserves of the world, make our duties for the region clear in the present circumstances”, the group wrote in its weekly publication.
The group said that the U.S. was introducing “American Islam” in Iraq in place of theocratic Islam, citing recent remarks by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani who visited Iran earlier this week, as a “negative example” of the effects of moderate Islam.
“Based on the teachings of pure Islam and without any moderate posturing, we must oppose deviant currents in this arena and fight off the aggressors in Islamic lands following the teachings of the Quran. Of course, we are ready to carry out the orders of the Supreme Leader as a priority”.
Ahmadinejad: dead man walking
Ahmadinejad is right about what Islam really is. At least he is telling us exactly what his intentions are. "American" Islam is the variety of Islam that doesn't preach against Israel and the USA. "American" Islam is the variety that does not wage jihad or support it directly or indirectly.
Not every Muslim supports jihad, but every TRUE Muslim must support jihad - and wage jihad.
It means fighting with the sword for Allah - and this is the MAIN meaning of jihad in Islam. We should be relieved that at least our adversaries are dumb enough to tell us exactly what they believe. Ahmadinejad may be a nutcase, but he is a true Muslim that WILL kill in the service of Allah.

Back before the first Gulf War began, a student of geopolitics in Pennsylvania wrote an OpEd for our newspaper, claiming the US would start a war that would end up killing a billion people. Now we have the people who seem to be Willing to give him his wish... Not that he'd blame them, of course.

Perhaps the referred to student of geopolitics ought to study a litle history. The US did not start anything. As has been pointed out many times on this site, all this was started some 1400 years ago, and not by the US.
One wonders if Iran smells weakness in the US resolve to complete the job in Iraq now that there is ever increasing talk of leaving Iraq? Why the more apparent sabre rattling now after 3 years since the Invasion of Iraq? It sounds like they are working hard to justify a reason for invading Iraq if we pull our troops out and leave a gutted Iraqi military to the whims of Iran.
If they elect to invade Iraq after are departure, one can't help thinking about the demographics that could change if we fail to act against this possible effort by the ever increasing sabre rattling of Iran.
An occupied Iraq by Iran threatens the somewhat stabiliy of the whole region from Syria, Saudia Arabia,Jordan,Lebanon, and beyond. And in the middle is that little postage stamp of a country, Israel.
Our growing and weakening resolve to stabilize the area are exposed every day to Iran who will clearly seize the opportunity on those displays of failing support for the war effort in Iraq.

maybe iran will just take over the south by basra. isn't the population down there mostly iranian-style sunni's? they could "respond" to pleas for help from local imam's as a "humanitarian gesture". by limiting their incursion and using a good excuse it would give our peace-and-islam loving politians an excuse to not intervene. iran, i think, aslo covets Basra, a very stategic port.

Terrorism has changed the rules of war. Why arn't we adapting? Why arn't there mercenaries willing to assasinate the terrorist network leaders? Or is this war just a big stage? In a world with micro surveillance robots and so much technology how is it that we can't find the people who are doing the most harm?? Or are these demons kept alive to keep the overseas war going, and the atrocities at home on the backburners? why are border agents getting killed every week in the U.S. but nobody knows? Why is Al Quaida coming in through Mexico and nobody is doing anything ?? Why does there have to be bloodshed in the U.S.? so we can be led into more wars against more hostile muslim nations? Can't the U.N. attack Iran without WMDs going off in U.S. Cities first?
