Which newspaper? Why the New Duranty Times, where else? This story comes from Reuters:
WASHINGTON - Iran on Friday took the highly unusual step of running a costly full-page ad in the New York Times defending its nuclear activities and accusing the United States and European allies of creating an "unnecessary crisis."As U.S. and other key officials met in London to discuss efforts to force Tehran to abandon what they believe is a weapons-related program, Iran in its advertisement issued a detailed rebuttal of all charges and said it resumed uranium conversion this week because Britain, France and Germany, under U.S. pressure, violated a 2004 agreement.
But Iran also held out the possibility of resolving the dispute, saying "a diplomatic and negotiated framework is the desired approach for a successful outcome and Iran is ready to consider all constructive and effective proposals."
Central to Tehran's argument is the assertion that it is pursuing only peaceful nuclear energy -- not nuclear weapons -- despite concealing its activities for nearly two decades.
"In fact, the predominant view among Iranian decision-makers is that development, acquisition or possession of nuclear weapons would only undermine Iranian security," read the ad, headlined "An Unnecessary Crisis" and issued in the name of Iran's U.N. mission.
Tehran suspended nuclear activities at its facility at Isfahan under a November 2004 deal with Britain, France and Germany -- the EU3 -- but resumed work at the plant in August, prompting the trio to suspend negotiations.
Iranian officials confirmed on Friday that it had resumed uranium conversion at the plant this week...
In a related story: "Iran admits to UN it bought designs for nuclear bomb," from the Telegraph with thanks to Interested.
Iran has admitted obtaining designs that could help it make a nuclear bomb, the United Nations nuclear watchdog said yesterday in a confidential report. After more than two years of investigations, it is the closest that inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency have come to linking Teheran's electricity generation project with an alleged weapons programme.
The discovery will raise tensions before next week's meeting of the IAEA board of governors, which will debate whether to report Iran to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions.
The IAEA report said documents bought by Iran on the black market included designs "on the casting and machining of enriched, natural and depleted uranium into hemispherical forms". Experts said the casts are used in atomic weapons.
The IAEA said Iran had insisted it had not used the designs. But Gregory Schulte, the chief United States delegate to the IAEA, said the find "opens new concerns about weaponisation that Iran has failed to address"...
The NYT giving a forum to the US's enemies? Never would of thunk it. That ad had approval from the highest levels at the paper.
Just despicable.
Once the nuke rubicon is crossed, Iran becomes practically immune to military deterrence. The time to defang Iran is now and something tells me not every head of govt in the civilized world gets it.
Anyway, quite fitting that the NY Slimes was chosen for a full page ad, eh? Wonder how the payment was done, in oil vouchers maybe??
Unfortunately the administration is too busy attempting to apease CAIR and assure the American public that this world-wide war is not with a group of individuals who are simply following their religious text.
Now it falls onto Israel to do what we as a nation lack the will to.
Because unless they act, step two of this ridiculous dance is Hezbollah detonating a nuke in Tel Aviv.
Fidel the monster knew how to have his ugly child succeed in Cuba back in the early 50's: he said, 'send me a NYTimes reporter'.
Those fools showed up and "romantisized" his "struggle" (the NY- Duranty Times again ready to screw America). The rest is a sad history lesson.
Who said only the French are surrender monkeys?
Unfortunately, the only ones defanged at this point are Isreal and the US. If you think for one minute that this joker is not in someones cross-hairs right now -- you're wrong.
Frankly, the west dosen't have the stomach to take him out. Unfortunately, that is the same with Zarqawi and bin Laden. Many in the front could have neutralized these jokers but were ordered not to.
The only thing sicker than this ad is the fact that many NYT readers will accept it at face value and believe what Iran says.
Frankly, I guess I would prefer that Iran state it's case in a paid newspaper ad in the NYT than having it's case stated for it in editorials and news stories by the staff and editorial writers of the Times. At least we all know that this is a paid advertisement unlike when this same propaganda fills "objective" news stories as well as in Editorials which always blame Israel for any bad news coming out to the Mid-East. All Iran needs to do is say they are developing nuclear weapons to counter the Zionist State and they can get all the free coverage- all of it laudatory- in the NYT and it's sister publication the Boston Globe.
where else can you have great pr for a sick country such as iran through the disgusting liberal media , the NYTimes!! Islamofacists know where the enablers can be found in the liberal left media.... and they wonder why readership is down with the major papers!!!

What does the world fourth largest oil producer, second largest producer of natural gas (not to mention a healthy supply of coal) need with nuclear power? I don't think I like the idea of their explanation that having nuclear power would free up their natural reserves for export elsewhere. I might have been swayed had their "president" not recently called for the obliteration of another country (we won't go into the sad fact that Iran is a UN member—Way to go, Kofi!). I'm a lot more likely to believe an angle more like this one:
Nuclear power WILL free up their oil and gas for sale while at the same time provide them with ready new resource for the making of nuclear weapons and the only real aim here is to put oil consuming nations even more over a barrel (pun intended). By selling their resources and building nuclear power plants to take up the energy slack--we'll be funding their terror war (by proxy as the US doesn't buy from them) AND they'll have the added bonus of nuclear weapons with which to threaten us or our friends or God forbid USE because some jihadi gets a bug up his butt. The "politically correct-everyone is our equal crowd" seems to be missing out on the fact that not EVERYONE should have nuclear weapons. Yes, the US actually used them but I've never heard of a US President calling for the total annihilation of anything excepting terrorism. I say let them build whatever they want and then drop a JDAM on it--this has worked in the past and is discussed here as a future possibility:

The simple answer here should be "No, we're all real sorry but you can't have nukes because we and the rest of the world are pretty sure you're a bunch of whackos looking for a place to detonate. However, the folks at Häagen-Dazs have offered to put franchises in all your major cities because they recognize your aching need for “I love me” food".
"The discovery will raise tensions before next week's meeting of the IAEA board of governors, which will debate whether to report Iran to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions."
OH MY GOD, now Iran will HAVE to back down...they might get REPORTED to the UN SECURITY COUNCIL, who might impose SANCTIONS! It might even go on Iran's PERMANENT RECORD!
