Loathing to integrate

Fleeing war and government instability, many Yemeni immigrants arrived in the United States during the 60s and 70s. According to this report from The Yemen Times, those immigrant's dreams of prospering while maintaining their Arab-supreme identity have been dashed on the rocks of an overwhelming, yet inferior, culture.

Due to the lack of modern education, Yemeni Americans seem to be drowning in a sea of dreams and fairy tales, thinking that America is the land of opportunities while they give themselves no opportunity to achieve education or knowledge. Many work in gas stations, automobile companies, and restaurants to earn their living.

The American culture is so indusive and full with attractions, in most situations it is almost impossible to ignore the way of life in a country like America. Many issues that are unnoticeable in a Middle Eastern society such as adultery, drinking, usage of drugs and so on are practiced openly and freely in The United States. These issues are at the same time prohibited and contradict Islamic teachings and Arab values.

Lest the reader be fooled - "unnoticed issues" in Middle Eastern society does not necessarily mean that those issues do not exist.

Nowadays, and after the 3rd and 4th generations, many Yemeni Americans have completely lost their identity. The difference in culture, society, values, environment, and habits has tremendously changed the structure of the once great Yemeni American society. “My children don’t even speak Arabic; they think it’s not necessary. They just neglect to understand that we are Arabs and that Arabic is the language of the Quran”, said Ibrahim Al-Ba’dani, who has been living in the United States for over 40 years. “It’s really unimaginable. I can’t even imagine how their children will end up”, he added.

Its very common now to notice Yemeni Americans who don’t speak Arabic at all and only understand a little of the language when being spoke to. “I couldn’t believe a day would come when my children forget their mother tongue and give no importance to it whatsoever”, said a concerned father in America.

Many of the younger generations of Yemeni citizens do not understand the Yemeni values until they decide to visit Yemen. Moreover, the visit could be unforgettable and full of exciting memories. They experience a culture similar to the one their parents followed, and from there, many start to realize the importance of their original values and try to live it for as long as they can. “I don’t want to be the one responsible for them losing their identity. At least for the next generation, I will make sure my children stay safe from the strong influence of the American society”, said a U.S. born Yemeni American Hafez Ali. “Our prophet Mohammed (peace is upon him) once said: ‘time will come when holding on to the practice of Islam is in the same difficulty like holding a burning piece of charcoal’ and trust me we realize that every minute of our life in America”, he added.

The crux of the "problem" is that assimilation into an alien culture implies the negation of Islam. However, there is good news for these "suffering" ingrates. Read on.

A positive aspect for all of this is that even when going through hard situations, Yemeni Americans are probably still the most cultural people in the United States. Comparing Yemeni communities to other societies throughout America, Yemenis are known to have the Islamic centers and private schools there. Their mosques are very big and in some situations hold over 6,000 worshippers. They live in special societies where they are usually close to family and friends. Quranic classes are offered to youngsters in mosques and private schools.

Many good things are happening, but we have to keep in focus the problems that the younger generations are facing now, and the bigger problems the next generation of Yemeni Americans will surely have to deal with. Furthermore finding solutions for these issues.

Please read it all.

Do the Yemeni Americans realize that they can return to Yemen any time they want?

American Yemenis work in gas stations, restaurants, and automobile companies to earn their living? OH THE HORROR. They should be able to live of the jizya of the dhimmis. If only those despicable Zionists hadn't airlifted all the Yeminite Jews to Israel, the Yeminis could just live of the toil of the Dhimmis, as Allah intended.

Isn't it strange that Black Haitians, Nigerians, other Caribbeans, and other Africans; Hindus from Guyana, India, and Africa; Loatians, Vietnamese, Thais, Philippinos, Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans from Asia; Europeans of every shape and hue, and of course JOOOOZ can move to America and become prosperous, happy, and functional?

And the poor, poor oppressed you-know-whats. They have to toil in gas stations, automobile companies, and restaurants. Isn't it a shame that American laws forbid Muslims and Arabs, and especially Arab Muslims for attending college? And we forbid them from working in the good-paying industries? And we forbid them from building mosques, starting religious schools, and opening businesses?

Oh cursed be this nation of monkeys, pigs, and Joooz. If I was a Yemini American, I'd be on the first plane back to Yemen. (If anyone needs help finding an airport, do a google search.)

Here we go again.

People come to this country to escape abuse and to build a better life. Then when they obtain their dream, they take a second look and lament that things aren't the way they used to be? Go ahead and teach your kids your beliefs, but make sure they don't interfere with the praticing of mine.

I'm not real keen on the state of morals in America or in the world. But I've taught my kids the difference between right and wrong, how to think and use their heads and what happens if you do something stupid and give up your life choices at an early age. And they've learned the lessons.

Maybe the Yemeni Americans' children see the choice between Islamic bondage and relative American freedom and they realize the former just ain't gonna cut it. Maybe.

Sorry, when immigrants become Americans, they cease to be Yemeni, Arab, Mexican, French or the nationality of the country from which they came. Characteristics of that culture that don't fit here naturally are discarded. If individuals wish to remain Yemini, French, or Mexican, they can easily go back.

In reality there is should be no hyphenated Americans, only Americans, those that owe loyalty on the United States of America. Immigrants unable and unwilling to do so should get out... and so should the native born of the mindset.

KJ,

I beg to differ, (tongue in cheek,) when you say, "we forbid them from building mosques, starting religious schools and opening businesses." I live in a state that has mosques all over the place and I want to hurl everytime I pass one of those damned, ugly things, knowing full well what's going on inside. And there is a very charming little Moslem school about six miles from my house, churning out the next generation of hatred spewing Islamobots, and I'm the intolerable one!

As for business, I once attended a business networking meeting and met a Moslem man who owned several huge furniture stores. To make conversation he told me he was married, he told me about his business and also mentioned that he was going to Las Vegas for a convention. When I told him he would probably enjoy going there because it's a fun place to visit, he asked me if I'd like to go along. I just stood there for a moment, dumbfounded, then asked him if he hadn't just told me he was married. He then proceeded to tell me that his wife understood him. I asked him why he didn't take his wife and he said it was because she didn't like to leave the house. Trust me, that was then end of our conversation. But this took place right here, in America, in a thriving metropolitan area. And all I could think of was, maybe I should go and befriend this lady and get her out of the house. This was before I started studying Islam 101 with Robert. But think about it...I live in a place where you can do anything you want and this poor chick is stuck in her house because of some stupid, radical belief system, and her husband is out on the prowl because Mo said it was okay. I think I will hurl.

Faqi,

Very interesting post. Could it be that since the majority of Moslems can't read they have no idea what the Koran really says and in their minds aren't lying when they say that Islam is a religion of peace and they don't believe in violence, (like they keep telling us.)

But someone is encouraging those mothers out in Islamland to teach their kids that it is an honorable thing to blow themselves up in the name of "Allah".

faqi,

I disagree with your assesment of the 'What Went Wrong?' article.

I believe that he is advocating for diagnosis #2 -- modernity.

faqi:

Where is this from and how much of it is correct?

I would like to use some of this data for my writing but its no good as a reference that can't be substantiated.

It would be good if you could post the link, thank you!

American citizenship, let alone residency, has been so cheapened by the leftist elites that it is perceived by the world to be the right of anyone to obtain it.

The privilege of living in America has been so devalued that it is badmouthed by foreigners from crap-hole third world turd piles who come to the U.S. to take advantage of it. The swine actually want to make America submit to the degenerate lifestyles of the third world hell they immigrated from.

The solution is simple and would be 100 percent effective. It will not happen. The ungrateful Yemeni scum should get down on their bony knees and thank Allah that I am not all powerful emperor of North America for a day.

Many issues that are unnoticeable in a Middle Eastern society such as adultery, drinking, usage of drugs and so on are practiced openly and freely in The United States.
A very high percentage of the 'devout Muslims' who actually stood and fought (a rarity) in Fallujah were loaded up on pain meds, speed, and other "super soldier" drugs. Fat lot of good it did them.

Islam has none of these problems the same way the Soviet Union had none of these problems. One, deny they exist. Two, "no man, no problem" -- Stalin

Dear,dear...One sooo feels for the sufferings of
Yemenis living in an Infidel country! No doubt their elders miss the excitement of kidnapping Westerners, a nice stoning or two, beheadings and mutilation sideshows not to mention being able to
control and abuse women with impunity. Of course the disatisfied ones do have an option. RETURN TO
YEMEN MY DEARS: TO SAND, HEAT, FLIES AND FILTHY OPEN TOILETS.

Here's a simple solution. If you don't like living in the US, if the thought of beer drinking, adultery and women having rights upsets you then get the h*ll out.

Faqi, thanks for the interesting and informative article.Hmmm...could there actually be a connection between Islam and the low productivity and economic stagnation of Muslim countries? Or is it all just a coincidence or an infidel conspiracy?

What happened to to all the posting I made, they just vanished from this site altogether?????
Is there some mischief going on?

No, faqi, I didn't have the pleasure of reading your posts. If they contained bad language, a call for violence, or if they were overtly Islamist, then the powers that be would have deleted them, which is a good thing, because we're sick of loudmouth troublemaking Muslims. We come here to get away from their lies and verbal garbage, and to hear a bit of truth and common sense. Anyway, when Muslims do post here, they always make wild accusations without quoting their sources, they hardly answer any questions presented to them by other posters, they give us a loud of Islamic mumbo-jumbo gobbledygook, and then they vanish. I actually wouldn't mind a debate, but it never ends up as one.

Muslims are by far the worst immigrants any country could ask for. Unemployment, crime, riots, rape, sedition and terrorism always accompany them. But of course, if anybody equates this to Islam, it has to be "racist" and any problems the Muslim community admits to having are always somehow our fault - never theirs. They're always innocent victims "fighting back" against the system. We've heard it all before (the BBC and many others feed us it every day) and we don't want it here.

Anyway, that's not what I was going to post.

"A positive aspect for all of this is that even when going through hard situations, Yemeni Americans are probably still the most cultural people in the United States."

Yemenis cultured? "cultural"? In Yemen they can hardly read! - Literacy = 38.0% total, 53.0% male, 26% female (1990 est.) - So they are oppressed and at the bottom of the heap, but they are America's most cultured people - you would have to be a Muslim I think, to really fathom the logic of that. If they mean by "cultural", that Yemenis are the community that has kept to their home culture the most in the USA, then they've gone and contradicted most of their own article. Does anybody understand this rubbish?

"…the visit [to Yemen] could be unforgettable and full of exciting memories." It is the world’s 14th poorest country with 36% unemployment. According to the US State Dept. just for the year 2002: "Bombings and targeted shooting increased during the year, with several bombings in Sana'a and one in Marib, a grenade attack on the U.S. Embassy, an attack on the oil tanker Limburg, a political killing and the killing of three American hospital workers. The Government and international observers attributed these bombings and shootings to terrorism, religious extremism, and antigovernment political groups based in the country and abroad." If you're an American passport holder, and your idea of "exciting" is groaning on the floor with your guts spilling out, then I'm sure Yemen will not fail to disappoint.

Woe to America... The idea that we've admitted such vast numbers of Arabs of this sort into our beautiful nation without understanding their primitive tribalism or their arrogant disdain for our fabulous nation, our culture, or our religion is a great tragedy...

My jaw remains agape while listening to the boastful bagging of Arabs in light of the deplorable and revolting living standards and barbarity in EVERY Arab hell hole on Earth. What staggering insanity to listen to them bleat so about their native cesspool of a nation! I have heard it often in person, the never ending torrent of baleful blather about the sublime religion of Islam, or the innate supremacy of their culture and nation -- one wonders what prompted such smug self satisfied people ever to leave their Islamic paradise for this sad decadent rudderless hell hole of America?

American citizenship, let alone residency, has been so cheapened by the leftist elites that it is perceived by the world to be the right of anyone to obtain it.Posted by THw6kds

Yet right, well your "leftist elites" are the guys with the money, the corporate CEO's and BoD's, the major shareholders, who themselves profit from the cheap labor of immigrants, and their more than lucrative dealings with the Saudis, Algerian's, Egyptians,Iranians, and Pakistanian's and Turks.

They are hardly "leftists".

Mr Spencer is this Jihad Watch of Leftist Watch?

Your site takes on the odor of Free Republic, which is nothing more than an internet adjunct of the Republican National Committee, which has come into power and is staying there by divisive demonizing politics. (And it also provides a nice stipend to Jim Robinson the site owner)

Now I know you aren't captive to Free Republic, but the bilge your posters throw out, turn away erstwhile allies..

Or do your posters think that they can go it alone, win the war all on their own, or do they really believe or care that the west is fighting to survive in a world where the population of Muslims will soon outnumber Christians.

"My children don't even speak Arabic; they think it's not necessary. They just neglect to understand that we are Arabs and that Arabic is the language of the Quran", said Ibrahim Al-Ba'dani, who has been living in the United States for over 40 years.

Look, it's just a fact of life that if you want to prosper in a country, you have to know the language.

If you want to get by in Mexico, you'd better know Spanish.

If you want to get by in Brazil, you'd better know Portuguese.

If you want to get by in Japan, you'd better know Japanese.

If you want to get by in Yemen, you'd better know Arabic.

It's no different here. If you want to get by in the USA, you'd better know English. You can learn another language if you want. I myself know enough Spanish to get my nose busted. No one is stopping immigrants from encouraging their children to learn Arabic. It's just that we don't feel obligated to make them learn Arabic.

"but the bilge your posters throw out, turn away erstwhile allies.."

Funny, it's your post that smells bad.

"Or do your posters think that they can go it alone, win the war all on their own"

Personally I'll die trying, alone if need be.

Now go take a piss on somebody other than JW posters Nariz.

"This was before I started studying Islam 101 with Robert."

Me too, starting like 3 years ago, thanks Robert.

Faqi,

Could you repost the "What Went Wrong" article or a link to the article. It was interesting and informative.

Ray C.,

If you want to get by in Mexico, you'd better know Spanish.

If you want to get by in Brazil, you'd better know Portuguese.

If you want to get by in Japan, you'd better know Japanese.

If you want to get by in Yemen, you'd better know Arabic.

To each of the above, basically true.

But to the next one:

It's no different here. If you want to get by in the USA, you'd better know English.

I wish that were so, but to paraphrase a recent Hertz commercial, not exactly.

Our ballots are printed in many languages.

Many immigrants have lived in this country for decades without learning English.

Phone menus often begin with "For English, press 1..."

Etc.

Hey guys,

My post up above was not supposed to be in this thread. So sorry!! I don't know how it got in here but like Faqi, I lost it in the actual thread I was in several hours ago.

Sounds like some genie fresh out of a lamp causing trouble!

To Roxane Et Al. Here is the requested link once again, I hope its helpful.

http://www.jang.com.pk/thenews/nov2005-daily/08-11-2005/oped/o6.htm

I noticed that Dr Ali Sina have already posted a response to this article and the link is:

http://www.faithfreedom.org/oped/sina51126.htm
The above will be helpful to PRCS

Another good article was posted by Thierry Gattuso on the FaithFredom site, with the necessary references. Link below.

http://www.faithfreedom.org/oped/ThierryGattuso51125.htm

Faqi, PRCS

Thanks for the links.

faqi,

Thanks.

Both articles were informative and enlightening, and they contained the kind of info I like to include in letters to my elected representatives and the media.

I only wish that Ali Sina would use a better spelling/grammar checker! Nonetheless, he did tear Dr. Saleem a new one.

But I'm still troubled by the phrase "Keep pace with time -- al Quran."

It just doesn't make sense.

But I do thank you for your follow-up.

faqi,

P.S. In case you missed it, here's one of the best 'Letters to the Editor' I've read in a long time.

http://www.tribune-georgian.com/articles/2005/11/25/news/opinion/letters/1letter11.25.txt

Roxane,

You're welcome.

To:Timbo.
My posts did not contain any bad language, call for violence nor were they pro Islamist.
I have been advised that this site, does not approve of the use of the word "Muzzie" (instead of Mohammedan or Muslim), to refer to followers of Prophet Mohamed's "divine" religion. My posts were all deleted as it had that word.
Coming from Europe, to us words such as Brit for Britishers, Aussie for Australians, Kiwi for New Zealanders, Yank for Americans ,are words that are in daily use and so is Muzzie for Muslims. It does not have a negative connotation say like the 'N' word in the US which is derogatory.
Anyway, in any future posts to this site, I have decided not to use the word Muzzie when referring to Mohammedans.

l have a good saying for those poor people whose children have lost their identity..languarge, culture.. if they lost it, it was not worth it!!!
