Though the contest had been officially closed, at least in the minds of the judges, it is now officially open again. Entries will be accepted before Thanksgiving, and all will be as carefully considered as those sent in months ago. The prize remains as stated in the last line.
Rather than supplying only the laconic link to the original announcement at JW, so demanding because of its difficult-to-execute click, here it is again:
Readers of JihadWatch are aware that MESA Nostra is the professional organization in which, in order to become a uomo d'onore, or a donna d'onore for that matter, no kneecaps need be broken, no nightclubs broken up, no trucks hijacked, no girls put on the streets, no cocaine contraband prescribed by "los medicos" of Medellin be distributed. No, there are only two requirements to become a Made Man in MESA Nostra. The first is easy: you must view the entire Middle East through ideological blinkers, in which Islam scarcely matters, and in which, whatever happens, Jihad-conquest and dhimmitude will be ignored, so that contemporary expressions of millennium-old doctrines, attitudes, impulses will be interpreted without the slightest reference to those doctrines, attitudes, impulses. That is content.There is also form.
What would Shakespeare have been like had he not forced himself to squeeze his dramatic verse into the Elizabethan doublet of iambic pentameter? Or Spenser, without the Spenserian stanza? It is not only writers in Elizabethan England who found such constraints productive. How impressive that 20th century French writer who managed to produce a novel without using the letter "e," or that other one who composed a series of works based on a single device: the beginning and the final sentences of whatever he wrote were phonetically identical, though semantically wildly different, and he assigned himself the writerly task of beating a plausible path through the overgrown jungle of language, a path that led ineluctably from that first sentence to the same-sounding, but different-meaning, last sentence.
Many of those in MESA Nostra may not realize it, but they are akin to Shakespeare and Spenser, Georges Perec and Raymond Roussel. For them it is not a question of verse-forms, or lipograms, or homophonic puns. Their self-imposed constraint consists in limiting their scholarly lexicon to fewer than fifty nouns, and two-dozen verbs. They harness these exhausted nouns, these over-worked verbs, and put them to work, no matter the subject. No matter the subject.
Thus the prose produced by one member of MESA Nostra will sound remarkably like that of another. Here we mean the enthusiastic, full-throated members of MESA Nostra, those whose interests do not stray very far from "Iraq" and "Palestine" and "colonialism" and "empire," and the obvious ring-changing variants: "occupied Iraq/Palestine," "Iraqi/Palestinian people," "Israeli colonialism," "American empire." Many members of MESA Nostra membership have a deep and abiding personal and professional interest in these matters, as they do in little else. They can do no other.
But a few members of MESA Nostra are members-in-name-only, who remain different in mental makeup, and distant from the bureaucratic intrigues, the political tendentiousness, the anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Western themes and variations. These "non-member" members do not write about the "construction of Palestinian identity" nor the "(de)construction of Israeli identity." It is about questioning the Jihadist element within Islam. What point therefore in posting links to a website questioning central doctrines of Christianity? This might keep the Christians busy for a while. Unfortunately for you, our; Hindu, Budhist, Secular, Sikh, Shintoist, Daoist, Atheist, Jewish, Humanist and 'none of the above, readers will still be on your case.
3. Checking out the link that you sent us, one thing becomes clear immediately: The whole thing is based on a logical fallacy. It is one to which Muslim apologists seem especially prone: Believing that proving one belief system to be false immediately confirms the truth of another. In other words this site attempts to shoot holes in Christianity in the mistaken belief that this automatically proves Islam to be true! Sorry to burst your bubble but life doesn't work like that. Saying that one football team isn't doing well this season doesn't neccesarily mean that their opponents are brilliant. You cannot prove the 'truth' of Islam by using spurious comparisons with another belief system. It has to stand or fall on it's own merit. Many of us will be only to glad to point out the ways in which it doesn't (stand that is).

Here is an interview with Singapore Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. If you read between the lines here, you can see how Singapore successfully neuters its Muslims. They tell them what Islam is; they tell them what Jihad means. They don't let them get away with anything.
If France wants to keep its Muslims, they will have to do the same thing to survive. They will have to spend the money to take away control of Islam from the Muslims themselves and they will have to suspend commonly held notions of Western liberty regarding religion. If not, they will lose their country, in one way or another - war, partition, etc..
Here is the legal framework that Singapore uses to keep its Muslims under control - the Administration of Muslim Law Act. You will notice that the State decides what Islam is and all Muslim conversions are to be reported to the State. Freedom of religion cannot exist with Islam. You either suppress it completely or you have to deal with it in some other manner.

Some years ago I spent an unhappy hour driving round Tilbury Docks looking for a particular office. Edward Wadie Said (إدوارد سعيد) (born Jerusalem, November 1, 1935 – died New York, September 24, 2003) was a well-known Palestinian-born American literary theorist, critic and outspoken Palestinian activist. His call for the destruction of Israel may have grabbed headlines abroad, but it is President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's devotion to a mystical religious figure that is arousing greater interest inside Iran.
In a keynote speech on Wednesday to senior clerics, Ahmadinejad spoke of his strong belief in the second coming of Shi'ite Muslims' "hidden" 12th Imam.
According to Shi'ite Muslim teaching, Abul-Qassem Mohammad, the 12th leader whom Shi'ites consider descended from the Prophet Mohammed, disappeared in 941 but will return at the end of time to lead an era of Islamic justice.
"Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi," Ahmadinejad said in the speech to Friday Prayers leaders from across the country.
"Therefore, Iran should become a powerful, developed and model Islamic society."
"Today, we should define our economic, cultural and political policies based on the policy of Imam Mahdi's return. We should avoid copying the West's policies and systems," he added, newspapers and local news agencies reported.
Ahmadinejad refers to the return of the 12th Imam, also known as the Mahdi, in almost all his major speeches since he took office in August.
A September address to the U.N. General Assembly contained long passages on the Mahdi which confused Western diplomats and irked those from Sunni Muslim countries who believe in a different line of succession from Mohammed.
This fascination has prompted wild stories to circulate.
Presidential aides have denied a popular rumor that he ordered his cabinet to write a letter to the 12th Imam and throw it down a well near the holy city of Qom where thousands of pilgrims come each week to pray and drop messages to the Imam.
SECRETIVE SOCIETY
But what really has tongues wagging is the possibility that Ahmadinejad's belief in the 12th Imam's return may be linked to the supposed growing influence of a secretive society devoted to the Mahdi which was banned in the early 1980s.
Founded in 1953 and used by the Shah of Iran to try to eradicate followers of the Bahai faith, the Hojjatieh Society is governed by the conviction that the 12th Imam's return will be hastened by the creation of chaos on earth.
Ahmadinejad, who is only the second non-cleric to become president since the revolution, has made clear his immense respect for Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah-Yazdi, a deeply conservative cleric with close ties to the Hojjatieh-founded Haqqani theological school in Qom.
Conspiracy theorists, never in short supply in Iran, allege that many members of Ahmadinejad's cabinet and other key appointees are Haqqani graduates and Hojjatieh followers.
"It seems that they (Hojjatieh members) have recently become more active and are spread through the government," said a political analyst who declined to be named.
"The president has repeatedly said his government will pave the way for the Imam's return."
But others point out that many former government officials, perceived as moderates, graduated from Haqqani.
Haqqani's continued links to Hojjatieh, though rumored, have not been proven and it remains one of the most prestigious theological schools in Qom.
Ahmadinejad's emphasis on the importance of development and justice to encourage the Mahdi's return, also suggest an important divergence from Hojjatieh thinking.
But he would be better advised to focus his speeches on practical rather than religious issues, said former Vice-President Mohammad Ali Abtahi.
"Of course, we must pray for the return of the Imam, but we must also tackle inflation and unemployment," the reformist cleric told Reuters.

US reveals Iraq nuclear operation
The US has revealed that it removed more than 1.7 metric tons of radioactive material from Iraq in a secret operation last month.
"This operation was a major achievement," said US Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham in a statement.
He said it would keep "potentially dangerous nuclear materials out of the hands of terrorists".
Along with 1.77 tons of enriched uranium, about 1,000 "highly radioactive sources" were also removed.
The material was taken from a former nuclear research facility on 23 June, after being packaged by 20 experts from the US Energy Department's secret laboratories.
It was flown out of the country aboard a military plane in a joint operation with the Department of Defense, and is being stored temporarily at a Department of Energy facility.
The United Nations nuclear watchdog - the International Atomic Energy Agency - and Iraqi officials were informed ahead of the operation, which happened ahead of the 28 June handover of sovereignty.

Tests confirm that artillery shell that blew up in Iraq did indeed contain sarin--between three quarts' and a gallon's worth, Fox News reports. The New York Times buries the story on page 11 (something about weddings in Massachusetts led the front page, bizarrely enough), and it's shot through with pro-Saddam spin:
The discovery of the sarin-filled shell appears to offer some of the most substantial evidence to date that Mr. Hussein did not destroy all of the banned chemical agent, as he claimed before the war last year. It provides some solace, and possibly fresh leads, to the American teams that have been conducting an otherwise fruitless search for the weapons for more than a year.

"When [the U.S.] kicked out Saddam, they decided to dismantle the whole authority structure," Clinton told an audience at American University in Dubai. "Most of the people who were part of that structure were good, decent people who were making the best out of a very bad situation," he added.

First, a correction to my post above: It should say that Jews were fleeing south Tel Aviv from December 1947 to April 1948. In April or May of 1948, a Jewish counterattack from south Tel Aviv began against the Manshiyah quarter of Jaffa where sniping was going on against people walking on the streets of adjacent Tel Aviv. I don't know about everybody else, but I don't believe the "bird-flu" hype. Why is a disease that has killed less than 65 people since 2003 being given the status of pandemic? "MESA Nostra" is probably meant to sound like the Italian (or is it Sicilian) Casa Nostra; I think it's a mafia term for "our house"... you know, "casa" being "house" (in Spanish too) and "nostra" meaning "our" similiar to the French "notre" meaning "our"... as in "Notre Dame Cathedral" i.e. "Our Lady" a.k.a Mary mother of Jesus.

It is appropraite to compare the "Middle Eastern Studies" departments of western academia to the Mob. In many ways, the shoe most certainly does fit.
I submitted my entries for the contest...the crazy, clutching-at-straws "phallic helmets on Jewish Wermachters" imaginations and mention of "Cairenes" made me think instantly of Edward Said; probably lots of us thought the same thing.
But the phallic obsession could also come from a feminist intellectual, and sad to say, many of them despise Israel and never tire of fellating Islam. So I picked the one that I'd read about a lot and submitted her name... what the hell, I might as well say her name now; I've made my entry. Lila Abu-Lughod. I first heard of her over at campuswatch in her utterly innane "Letter To Edward Said" (after he was dead.) Talk about a puff piece...blah. These g.d. idiots can't even eulogize each other without cheap shots at Israel. Kinda reminded me of Ann Coulter (a.k.a. Paris Hitler) bashing Hilary Clinton on the occasion of eulogizing her "friend" Barbara Olsen. Touching.
Of course the analogy doesn't end there... I've often noted that Hillary to the far-Right IS Israel to the Israel-bashers.
She was also one of the "experts" callled to decide who would get to teach a class on Israel or something like that.

A few years ago (was it the Olympics?) there was some big tennis tournament where international competitors were to pair up for the doubles games... or something like that. )Forgive me; I know very little about sports.) Anyway a player from Israel teamed up with a player from Pakistan. Of course the Pakistani's name was drug through the mud back home because of pairing up with A JOOOO! (LOL....99% of Pakistanis HATE THE JOOOOZ because of all the Saudi madrassas... and 95% of them have never and will never even see a Jew.)
I was wondering if that Pakistani kid was still alive... I remember thinking then that he probably wouldn't live too long once he got home. Does anyone know? DID he even GO home? Just curious.
