The enraged mob had already started to scale the walls of the Catholic compound in Sangla Hill when the Rev. Samson Dilawar hurriedly ushered the nuns, teachers, and 23 teenage students to safety.The group crammed into a small upstairs room of the convent in eastern Punjab Province. Out on the roof, Dilawar watched in horror as about 1,500 men swarmed across the mission, destroying everything in their path.
The Muslim crowd, incensed by rumors that a Christian had desecrated copies of the Koran, tore open the doors of the Holy Spirit church, smashed the marble altar, and shattered the stained-glass windows. They torched Dilawar's residence and the neighboring St. Anthony's Girls school. Within moments flames were licking the walls and black smoke filled the sky.
An hour later, Dilawar recalled, the mob crashed through the convent door and he retreated into the locked room where the nuns were praying.
''They tried to break the door down, but did not succeed. Otherwise, we could have all been killed," he said Thursday, sitting on a grassy patch outside the vandalized convent.
The violence that swept across Sangla Hill, a market town 140 miles south of the capital, Islamabad, on Nov. 12 has rocked Pakistan's small Christian community.
It has also highlighted the fragile position of religious minorities in this overwhelmingly Muslim country.

Yeah, these hellish barbarians would have relished in brutally slaughtering helpless, innocent children and nuns while screaming "God is great!" at the top of their lungs.
Is there no law and order in this God-forsaken Islamic hades inhabited by rabid muslim demons? Even catastrophic natural disasters that kill hundreds of thousands don't seem to faze the marauding Islamic lunatics, who seem to be on call 24/7 to commit heinous atrocities on behalf of allah and Islam. These people are categorically the lowest form of human life, on par with the savage Palestinians. And there seems to be a limitless supply of them; for every muslim lunatic who dies in the service of his bloodthirsty allah, there are fifty more waiting their turn.
Allah's thirst for blood, suffering, death and destruction is insatiable. I think I understand why Islamic countries have been historically ruled by autocratic despots. It takes ruthless tyrants to restrain the psychopathic, demented populations whose brains have been twisted into pretzels by Islam. I hope I'm still around when an outraged world turns on Islam with resounding retribution for the infinite crimes against humanity committed by its followers.
I find it appalling that this kind of violence receives absolutely no coverage in the west. The liberal western media doesn't want to present the truth about how Christians are really being treated in Muslim parts of the world because to do so may challenge sterotypes about Christians and even cause a conflict regarding how Muslims are viewed. Heaven forbid!
When the churches in France were burned by Muslim youths there was no photo coverage. But when there was a moltav coctail thrown in a French mosque resulting in little to no damage there was plenty of photo coverage.
There is a liberal bias against Christianity operating in the western media, including the entertainment industry, that portrays Christianity as backwards and neurotic. There are numerous examples. Just take a look at how many American movies like to mock religious Catholics.
The western media has its own agenda and doesn't operate fairly. Islam receives no negative coverage even though it is the faith that motivates its believers to wage war and terrorize the west.
That wasnt even a molotov that found its way into a mosque, it was a tear-gas grenade, but still a good enough reason to use as an excuse for hysterical rioting. These practicers of TheGentleReligion© are seventh century fools who just happen to be living in the modern age, honestly Im surprised they made it this far.
As far as not buying things made in Pakistan or any muslim country...what would that be exactly? I have one shirt that says, "Made in Bangladesh" but its such poor quality that I only wear it when Im doing any sort of painting.
There may be No sympathy for the plight of Christians in Muslim countries, but at the same time, sympathy for Muslims is clearly on the wane worldwide.
Muslims are perceived as jumpy, fanatical, aggressive and bloodthirsty. And everyday in the news there are more items confirming that this is the correct view.
Pakistanis should not be surprised that there was little reaction and sympathy in the West when a violent earthquake hit Islamic Pakistan.
Soon enough this lack of sympathy may turn to active hostility against islam. It is only a question of time.
But Moslems have no right to complain because they have thoroughly earned their bad name.
Does anyone have any information on the Christian population of Arab/Islamic countries over the past 25 years. I am just guessing, but I bet it is on the decline.
In somewhat related news, did anyone see tonight's family guy episode that, while in good taste, made fun of Jesus and G-d. I give credit to any religion that can make fun of itself, its a great sign of humility.
Any culture that can make fun of itself would never engage in violence if one of its holy books was desicrated. The thousands of churches/synagogs and its holy books that are burnt every year do not usually incite Christian riots. Thank g-d for that!
I guess thats something Jews and Christians share... a deep culture of humour! The good news is I think Islamic humour is on the rise in North America. Lets hope this pushes reform.
There is a story out of Libya showing the danger to non-Muslims in Muslim lands even if they are foreigners. Actually, if they come from a country with not much political influence on the world stage, then they can be abused with impunity. Bulgaria is a relatively uninfluential state.
Consider the case of the five Bulgarian nurses sentenced to death in Libya for deliberately infecting children with AIDS. They have been sitting in jail for several years now. The final decision to murder them may be given soon, if there is not enough outside protest. As a sign of how fake the charges are, outside investigators showed that AIDS was prevalent in the particular hospital in Libya where they were working before they got there. But Arabs/Muslims need to find outsiders to blame for what ails them. They have also put an Arab physician on trial on the same charge. But he is a Palestinian Arab not a Libyan. Funny we don't hear any "human rights" campaigners such as Amnesty or Human Rights Watch defending these victims of injustice, of a kangaroo trial. After all, one of them is a sacred "Palestinian"!! Why is his case disregarded?
Another sign of how fake the case is, is that one of Kaddafi's sons asked the Bulgarian govt to pay five million $$ [I think this is the sum] to the families of the AIDS suffering children in order to obtain release of the nurses. This was reported on Israel Radio--Network B [Reshet Beyt - Yoman Huts] yesterday, 20 November 2005.
If anybody has any info about reports in the Western media about this case or any updatings or corrections to what I wrote, I would be interested to read them.

The wests media is screwing the public by not reporting on islam atrocities. Don't buy any newspapers people. Don't buy Time or Newsweek either. Don't look at CBS news or NBC either,or ABC. And suspect Fox news--Its almost as worthless.

Western medias have become partners in the game of wrong-reporting or not reporting at all of the real facts of attrocities and cruelties met to the non muslim people,living in these islamic countries. I stronly suspect they are rewarded for their services through 'petro dollors'! BBC and CNN stand in the forefront.Newsweek is another "judas'to amercians.In Canada, leading news paper 'The Toronto Star' is a 100percent pro islamic paper. it is Anti christian to the core,anti Bush,and anti American. You can find stories of islamic "heroes' such as Araar,Khadar,etc glorifying them.Even if a canadian muslim farts,its headline news for them! One must go to theweb site of'canadian free press' or' honest reporting' to find more about this paper. I agree with the above posters who advocate a boycott of Pakastani goods. Our government may have sold us out in order to gain the co-operation of the Pakastani military, but we, the people are under no obligation to fund a society intent on killing us all should we get in their way of subjugating the world.
Those who would argue that trading with a country to increase their standard of living in the hopes of taming the Islamic beast simply don't understand the nature of this beast. They will simply go from being poor Islamic barbarians to rich Islamic barbarians.

The non-Muslim populations of Muslim-dominated countries is in serious freefall, and has been for decades, and we know why. Forced conversions, the murder of, and driving into exile of infidels, plus high birthrates amongst Muslims have displaced the non-Muslim populations. In 1920, Syria was 33% Christian - today it is around 9% Christian. Lebanon was 60% Christian in 1960, now it is 27% Christian. In 1950, there were more non-Muslims than Muslims in the Sudan, and in 1914 non-Muslims made up more than 50% of the population of Istanbul - nowadays Istanbul is 99% Muslim. These trends have been more than matched in Pakistan - 15% Hindu in 1947, 1% Hindu today - and all within a human lifespan. These figures cannot be ignored and should serve as a warning for countries like France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden etc, as they themselves are on the cusp of seeing a similar tale of woe. France itself is 10% Muslim, but 30% of babies born there are Muslim - a position that would have been unthinkable in 1962. And we are fully aware of how violent their non-assimilating Muslim populations are - three weeks of continuous riots in France, no-go areas in Swedish cities, and if it is like that when Muslim populations are around 6-10% of the population in these countries, think of what they'll be like when Muslims make up 15%, 20%, 30%, 50% of the population. And that day is far sooner than many dare, or care to think.
Anecdotally, one of my new neighbors is a former State Department official who finally decided to dodge the bullet and leave Indonesia... When we first met she was mum until I said "Lucky you got out of there with your head! Those Islamic shitholes are a powder keg..." It was like unlocking the floodgates to hear her tales...
Apparently she and her husband had been witnessing an incredible upsurge since 9/11 of barbarity and violence but felt somewhat immune. They finally decided to quit the State Department and leave Indonesia when the terror hit too close to home... The story she told was harrowing -- A man was chased onto their property and into a cul-de-sac below their garden... Apparently he had been charged with apostacy from what she could gather -- (and we know this can mean ANYTHING in an Islamic sewer) -- he was finally extracted from the drainage pipe, and by then a large fuming crowd had gathered... He was beaten to death, and literally torn apart by the maniacs... She said they'd heard rumors for years about this stuff -- but it took seeing the meat blood and entrails of a human slaughter to pursuade them they'd overstayed their welcome in this Muslim land...
And Indonesia is still vaunted as the moderate Muslim nation, of the un-Arabic version -- the pluralistic version --
I've been to Bali, and only after 9/11 did I begin to realize what I had witnessed there -- the people were so careful about discussing Hinduism, and seemed to constantly be fishing for employment opportunities in America. I have travelled the world and seen this before... And I attributed my Bali experiences to a similar financial incentive... But I was struck at how often and persistent the inquiries were, and about something that seemed calmly desperate in the offers I received... This was prior to 9/11 -- after the fact, I began to understand on a much deeper level that Bali and Lompoch is little more than a holding cell - a concentration camp -- and the people know their fate is sealed with their larger (formerly Hindu now nearly 100% Muslim) neighbor to the East and West -- It is hopeless for them...

Such a person could be introduced to the works of Bat Ye'or, Robert Spencer, Ibn Warraq, Andrew Bostom's new compilation "The Legacy of Jihad," and to various websites, including this one. If she finds some of it enlightening, and is sufficiently alarmed about what she learns, she could be helpful in alerting, and sending mateial to, former colleagues in the State Department. This is the way to proceed, working around the hard core of apologists (who are mostly those who deal directly with the Arab countries), and isolating them by providing information to all those who are assigned to Europe, Latin America, East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, who will be ready and in many cases, eager to find out more than what the party line offers. Let those floodgates open.
