Anti-dhimmitude in Hillsborough County. A follow-up to this story from Local6.com, with thanks to Diana West:
TAMPA, Fla. -- The local school board reinstated Good Friday, Easter Monday and Yom Kippur as school holidays after getting more than 3,500 e-mails from around the country criticizing its earlier decision to eliminate them rather than add a Muslim holiday. The Hillsborough County School Board voted 5-2 Tuesday night to restore the holidays to the 2006-07 school calendar after a Muslim group said it didn't want its request to add the Islamic holiday Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, to result in Christian and Jewish holidays being taken away.
"It is a temporary solution," said Ahmed Bedier, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "We've been adamant the last two weeks that we would give up on our request for a holiday so the other religions won't lose theirs."
Gee, thanks, Ahmed. What happened? Orders from the home office not to play the bully boy on this one?
Bullies. Exactly.
And like bullies, they sense weakness, uncertainty, and fear and are emboldened by it.
It validates, in their fevered minds, the myth of islamic superiority, and goads them on.
Exhibited certainty, resolve, and strength will make a bully throw it into reverse and evaporate.
You stand your ground and he blinks first.
Don't worry everyone. I am sure that the banning of Christmas will come when the Koran is "the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.” Who said that by the way? It sounds very intolerant. Hmmmm....who could it be?
"It is a temporary solution," said Ahmed Bedier, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "We've been adamant the last two weeks that we would give up on our request for a holiday so the other religions won't lose theirs."
CAIR as usual, is lying thru it's teeth. They had nothing to do with the reversal of this origianlly stupid idea. It was an outpouring of criticism from the community that directly led to the re-instatement of the Christian and Jewish holidays.
Let's see, there are Jewish and Christian holidays on the school calendar but NO Islamic holidays. That makes CAIR and Islam LOSERS! And no, it's not temporary but permanent. Get used to the result o'bearded ones, cause they're plenty of more coming your way soon.
Like for instance up the road, where your buddy Sami Al-Arian is getting ready to go to the Big House for being a funder of terrorism. And some day soon, CAIR will be sent flying back to Arabia on magic carpets that your Allah so cleaverly provided.
So lie, spin, and pretend while you can because it's not going to last much longer, losers.
"Orders from the home office not to play the bully boy on this one?"
I think most of the bullies are busy in France. Many people are finally opening their eyes, this is probably a bad time for CAIR to be too vocal about their ridiculous demands.
I await the next chapter on this story. In exchange for their "gallant" concession, I bet CAIR made a backdoor deal with the school board. Textbooks, films and speakers, all chosen by CAIR, will flood the school district, in order to indoctrinate those young minds about the religion of peace. CAIR won't need a day off for their children to celebrate a holy day. Other people's children will be subjected to Islam in the public schools on a daily basis. And, the school board members will feel so good about themselves and their contribution to multi-culturalism. It will be a win-win situation for everyone except non-Muslim parents and their children.
Maryrose is absolutely right. They got something out of it. But it is heartening to see that if a group of citizens stands up LOUDLY and in numbers, they can still put pressure on our weak minded leaders to affect a change.
And William, you are correct that CAIR is an organization full of losers. But since these losers are willing to lie and have, in fact, been rewarded over and over again because of their ability to make a lie seem like the truth, I don't think they are going down anytime soon.
Well, it actually seems like a reasoned and generous response on CAIR's behalf. It's reassuring in a weird way. I find myself WANTING to believe them.
The problem, of course, is that CAIR ISN'T nice, or fair. Their own officials have admitted that the only thing they really seek is the takeover of the US by islamic fundamentalism. This is what they're about. Appearing nice helps them do this.
So, much as I want to believe them, I have to side with Robert here - it doesn't smell wrong necessarily, but it's fruit from a poison tree.
Geoff
Possibly, CAIR is taking a bit of instruction from the defeat of Sharia courts in Ontario, which came at a cost of the closure of Roman Catholic and Jewish alternate dispute resolution panels that were functioning well, and have decided to keep a lower profile on certain matters for the time being.
This is not over. They'll be back. The weasels at CAIR are probably going to scream racism the next time around.
Let 'em scream. Their time is limited.
Is it possible that concesions were given to achieve this"temperary goal". Money and power go a long way to reconciliation. I think that after all alot of people were upset. I think that you people are correct in that the disturbance and the noise level can not be to high at the moment. GOD Bless.
If the Muslims hedge their doctrine of jihad with a number of of injunctions that keep them from attacking me and mine, keep the peace, and respect me, then I wish them Id Mubarak, too--and keep them mindful that God became flesh in Jesus of Nazareth and worked salvation for us.
Maryrose has a good understanding of the strategic thinking of CAIR, et. al.
The people of Hillsborough County can enjoy their victory, but must keep p[aying close attention. The Board will be looking for a way to compromise.
Of course, we all know that to compromise with those who want to poison us only prolongs the agony with small doses.
Why should concerned tax-paying parents tolerate any of CAIR's crap on their kid's campus? If CAIR wants to spread their BS they can start their own school.
