Note the claim at the very end of the excerpt, the exact same assertion that Mr. Spencer makes today in his books and writings.

The issue isn't money. The real issue is leaving the secure undisclosed location that Mr. Spencer is currently in and going to a unsecure and disclosed court house - plus the possibility of being ambush along the way or being followed back to said secure undisclosed location.

Many a critic of Islamists have been silenced. Such is the price one pays to speak the truth about Islammists. But I applaud you and admire your efforts, Mr. Spencer.

There are those of us who will have no problem putting on a uniform and dodging IEDs and bullets for a few years. After a few years of that, we go back to being nameless and faceless civilians living out perfectly normal and anonymous lives. When Andre Sakhrov made his faitful decision to go up against the Soviet juggernaught and write 'Peace, Progress and Intellectual Freedom' in 1968, his mother-in-law of all people was the one to sit him down and prepare him for what lied ahead. Her recollections of the late 30s were first hand, and she warned him of the inevitable vilification campaign...to be followed by arrest and physical repression.

Sakharov made his choice...it was the only choice a man of integrity could make.

Like clockwork, the vilification campaign began. His Jewish wife (Elena Bonner) was portrayed by the regime as the evil witch who had - on behalf of foreign intelligence - devilishly corrupted an otherwise great man who previously contributed so much to the Soviet State (for those unaware, Sakharov was the father of the Soviet hydrogen bomb).

For any man who has ever loved a woman, can you imagine a scenario where she was vilified and viciously slandered all over the press and TV news because of her loyalty to you? It would be enough to evoke murderous fury or total despair in the best of men.

But not Andre Sakharov. He went on to write 'My Country and My World' in '74(?). It was apparent from this work that his political evolution was undergoing a metamorphosis. Whereas he had previously propagated his beief in convergence - that the West would socialize just as the East was liberalizing and the two would meet in the middle, now he had realized that reformation in the East was improbable if not impossible...and he began to entertain alternatives.

One thing I distinctly recall when reading him at this time (I was in my mid-teens and was undergoing my intellectual awakening) was his admiration for US diplomatic efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East. He castigated his own government for its obstructionism.

After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in Dec '79, Sakharov and his wife were interally exiled to the closed city of Gorky, where they lived in complete isolation from the outside world. During that time, he went on periodic hunger strikes to protest his living condition. On one such occasion, he was hospitalized, force-fed intraveneously, and adminstered psychotropic drugs which altered his perceptions (and were hoped by his persecutors that they would weaken his defiant will).

To no avail. This was no ordinary human being.

Eventually, Mikhail Gorbachev became General Secretary, rehabilitated Sakharov, and the great academecian was voted a member of the Supreme Soviet. He eventually died of heart failure in '87(?)...and his funeral procession was one of the great political demonstrations in the history of mother Russia.

Sakharov was a nobel peace prize recipient and his written works, if slightly suffering from the naivetay of a scientist attempting to dabble in the unfamiliar terrain of politics, stand the test of time in their integrity of outlook and in their testimonial to the indominability of the human spirit.

Yes folks, I came home inebriated tonight, frustrated and angry by the loss of my football team in a cliff-hanger. My decision to write this essay was quite spontaneous...an instictive reaction to 'The Lies Escalate.'

Really, term life is the best thing going. I got a policy that would completely take care of my kids up to and through grad. school.

Well, I don't even really know whether you have wife and kids, or whether you don't already have life insurance, but this was what I was thinking. Another good friend that runs a website told us that he didn't have life insurance, and found out he has some kind of cancer so now he can't get any.

Modernity has armed us with our most powerful weapon, rational thought. While fascist urges for anti-modern reaction hold currency among the left, many without even recognizing it, we, the recipients of the legacy of modern, rational man, are armed with critical minds and the tradition of investigation. I have just finished a long term relationship with my girlfriend who's father happens to be a leading leftwing apologist for islamofascism and a true beacon of reactionary thought about so called "anti-imperialism".
Without leading myself into a libel action he himself has published many a shortsighted tome on Americas involvement in Iraq written from the comfort of his ivory tower in a middle class country idyll with only the mainstream media for guidance,whilst scoring bitter points against the British Labour Party he was expelled from many moons ago.
To put things into context i'm just a working class songwriter who rejects this form of "champayne socialism" masquerading as the anti war movement and I have spent the best part of 2 years walking a tight rope and juggling peoples emotions whilst going around with the "wooden tongue" unable to voice my opinions about dhimmitude,the caliphate,religious nihilism,in favour of the pursuit of democratic freedom,equality for women,artistic expression..etc etc..without being shot down and branded as some sort of arrogant neocon,which is unlike me as I'm a free thinking artist who believes in the ABSOLUTE truth.

I do not know if it is sufficiently important to you, but don't you have an actionable claim against them in the UK for libel or slander; if they are unusually litigious in order to quiet those who disagree with them, a proper counter-tactic may be to sue them, seek damages, etc. Perhaps that will at least cause them to hesitate defaming those who honestly disagree with them; it will at least give them a taste of their own medicine.
