And he had the audacity, in a country in which persecution of Christians has been an art form and is on the rise again, to scold the French for being intolerant. From Zaman, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
The riots in France, said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, prove the importance of the project of the alliance of civilizations.Paying a visit to Germany to attend the opening ceremony of the European Turkish Democrats Union Headquarters, Erdogan spoke with the reporters during the flight over.
"We shape our relationships with the European Union from the perspective of the cooperation of civilizations," asserted Erdogan, during the conversation attended by Zaman correspondent Bulent Korucu.
"We explain that Turkey is very important from this point of view. We are having difficulty in explaining this to some of our friends, especially to France. We want to undertake one of the important roles in terms of the alliance of civilizations," the prime minister said.
The headscarf ban at French public schools is one of the triggers causing the disturbances that have taken place, according to Erdogan.

Translation:
You need an Islamic influence/middleman (Turkey)in the EU and we're it.
Oh wait...I thought this wasn't a Moslem issue? I don't think the "Parisian" youth are complaining about all their Catholic, Buddist, Hindu, Rastafarian, Marxist or whatever, sisters not being allowed to wear head scarves. Is the truth in the media finally beginning to emerge?
Also, check out www.drudgereport.com for an interesting commentary by Patrick Buchanan about how empires destroy themselves and how this is so applicable to the situation the French now find themselves in.
The Turkish secularists should be filling their newspaper columns with a single theme: that Arab behavior in France and elsewhere in Eruope now insures Turkey's rejection by the E.U. It will weaken Erdogan and his supporters who can be attacked for their too eager pan-Islamism. It will direct Turkish hostility to the Arabs. It will strengthen the secularists in Turkey, who need all the self-help they can get.
And there is one more thing.
It happens to be true.
What about Turkey's headscarf ban?
What about Tunisia's headscarf ban?
Erdogan's wife is a fervent head scarf wearer. Turkish generals have been known to get upset when obliged to attend public functions while she was present, since they must uphold Ataturk's ban on the head scarf in public office. And so Erdogan has his own agenda in the headscarf issue, as does Zaman, usually far from objective in its reporting.
So the rioting, attacks, killings etc. are directly related to not being allowed to wear a headscarf...yet its the young moslem men doing all the damage?
Peculiar and quite odd that the young jewish men who have been denied their yarmulkas havent joined in the fracas.
Id hate to see what would happen if the "youths" actually had a good reason to riot, such as seeing Mohammad portrayed in a Danish cartoon strip or something.
By definition the EU is a single civilization (that's civilization, no "s"). This statement by Erdogan is prima facie evidence that the Muslims have no intention of integrating into the Western civilization (singular). They merely intend to interleave until they achieve a critical mass that would enable them to attempt the destruction of Western civilization and displace it with their own scaled-up tribal warrior society.
Hulegu Khan, you took the words off my mouth, I was going to say the very same thing.
This guy Erdogan is a closet Islamist, he does not believe in a secular Turkey. He is waiting for the opportunity to enter the EU theyby increasing their numbesr for the "coup de grace"
The EU citizens should be allowed to vote on whether Turkey should be admitted to the Club, I bet, it will be resounding NO.
That's a clear warning to keep Turkey out. Who wants to be flooded with more "disaffected" rioting youth and whiners who think the world owes them?
faqi sez:
"..This guy Erdogan is a closet Islamist..."
No he's not. He is quite upfront about it and he was jailed for being an Islamist.
All the while he is chipping away on Ataturks legacy.
This guy may be a little oilier, smarmier than Ahmadijad of Iran, but he is just another Muslim brother.
Since God has chosen to do his work through George Bush (told him to help create a Palestinian state), I think we should put our trust in him (Bush). If he wants Turkey in the EU it’s probably for the best. (sarcasm)
If he wants Turkey in the EU it’s probably for the best. (sarcasm)
I never knew what sarcasm was until now. Perhaps you could try your hand at bathos - show me the way.
IA
More propaganda from you, inspite of several credible denials as to what Bush actually said to the PA.
Do you ever take your head out of your ass & actually take in what is going on in the name of Allah all over the planet?
Getting your news from AlBBCeera & Ummah.com is not giving you the full picture.
I suppose you are taking time out to come here from convincing your Jihadist brothers that Islam is a "Religion of Peace" & have graced us with your presence to let us all know how your personal Jihad against those that drag your religion through the shit is going?
Or have you been organising that "UK Muslims for Peace" march through London, supporting democracy & freedom for all of humanity?
I can see the tens of thousands of peaceful westernised Muslims now, waving the Union Flag (not burning it as KT said you were in a recent moment of clarity from him) all wearing those "Not In My Name" teeshirts, & calling for a Fatwa naming Osama Bin Laden as an apostate of Islam?
Yes, be a true Brit IA, go against your programming. Be a real British Muslim patriot - you know, like Sir Iqbal.
"Do you ever take your head out of your ass & actually take in what is going on in the name of Allah all over the planet?"
I am responsible for my own actions.

"Getting your news from AlBBCeera & Ummah.com is not giving you the full picture"
So you're trying to put words into my mouth.
===================================
"I can see the tens of thousands of peaceful westernised Muslims now, waving the Union Flag"
Why do I need to do that?
Tell me. I am my own person, I am responsible for my own actions, not for some stupid Wahabi half way across the World.
===================================
"& calling for a Fatwa naming Osama Bin Laden as an apostate of Islam?"
Only senior scholars can do that. His own fatwa has been washed away.
===================================
"Yes, be a true Brit IA, go against your programming. Be a real British Muslim patriot - you know, like Sir Iqbal."
I am.
Erdogan, cogratulations! You are a true muslim.
IA
You need to do it because the general non-Muslim population in the UK are growing ever more suspicious as to why these events have not happened.
Recently in London we saw yet again Muslims only exercising their democratic right to protest only when the Ummah & Islam is slighted.
Some of these fime upstanding democrats were wearing Iranian flags. How can any British Muslim, knowing full well the benefits of democracy & self determination actually endorse such a fanatical regime?
By wearing the Iranian flag days after the declaration that Israel should be "wiped off the map" they are actually endorsing genocide.
No marches or Fatwa against Osama makes us ever more suspicious as time goes by.
No marches by Muslims against the London bombers makes us ever more suspicious as time goes by.
To all intents & purposes, all Muslims seem to be on the same side.
Maybe this is a false perception, but it is a growing perception, not helped by the daily headlines from around the world where Muslims have & are committing terrible crimes against humanity in the name of Allah.
As a British Muslim, do you think that you should be influencing this perception for the betterment of all citizens? Do you see the peception the actions of Muslims are causing?
Do you see the points I am making?
Spencer:
(mild) Shame on you for not mentioning the enormous popularity of Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion in tolerant, multiculturally friendly modern Turkey.
It truly sickens me to hear the apologists for Islamic bellicosity and violence buying into the lie that it's all about Israel (as did a letter writer to last Saturday's Globe & Mail did with regard to the Iranian president's call to wipe Israel off the globe) and therefore quite justifiable. The usual Islamic and Baathist thugocracies rail on about the human rights of the Palestinians being violated yet raise that as an excuse to do nothing about their much worse human rights records. Talk about deflection!
Albion,
Re: Ia - the more and more I see his posts, the more and more I'm getting brought around to the conclusion that all muslims, everywhere, are indeed on the "same side".
Think about it: would atheists view the secularization of Syria as a bad thing? Would they consider it an integral evil? Of course not. Sure, some people - a few - might decry crimes committed in its execution (were any such to be possible or actually occur) but by and large there would be support for the "final goal", the eradication of all religion (but primarily islamist) in Syria.
Imagine then that Syria is Europe, and the secularists muslims instead.
Passive acceptance, if not encouragement, is going to (not probably, not possibly, not partially) absolutely be the norm. Would Ia object to the islamicization of Britain? Of course not! If it were violent, he might go home and cry or bite his pillow a little while it happened, but in the morning he'd wake up and think what a wonderful new day it was. He might even be contrite and wobbly about it next day, but he'd just straighten out his shirt and look at such an event as a positive thing, no matter how much pain there was behind him. Indeed, no matter the kind of violent thrusts such a movement might have to make to get through the barrier before it, Ia would look on it as a good thing, and as the dawning of a new day for him.
Hmm...hang on now. I think I've veered off topic here. Anyone?

As ever, I am not worthy of thy mighty wisdom.
You are, of course right & all seeing where IA is concerned. I have watched with delight as you have lay down thy wisdom before him on several immaculate occasions.
Always as I appear to make headway with IA he vanishes.

BLACKMAIL. That's what it amounts to.
Hulegu Khan wrote "This statement by Erdogan is prima facie evidence that the Muslims have no intention of integrating into the Western civilization."
This is correct. They intend to conquer and subjugate it. Remember, Turkey itself is not a legitimate nation-state. It is the sad result of the Muslim conquest of Byzantium. Its population is mostly Greeks who were converted to Islam and Turkified by force and violence. Now is the time to undo this conquest.
Yes Turkey should be integrated into Europe...by the Greek, Serbian and Russian Armies. Then the population of Anatolia could be given the choice of returning to the Orthodox Faith of thier ancestors, relocating to Arabia, or living in Dhimmitude to a restored Christian Byzantium.
The children of those Greeks expelled 80 years ago from Smyrna could return to thier rightful homes and Armenia would regain its rightful territories south of Trabizon.
Does this sound like a radical or extemist proposal? Well it's no more extreme than what they'll do to us if they win.
In the Name of the Prophet of W'AllahWalla (who is me):
May I say, with full double entendre, and in a good way and not a humourous way as above: Blessings be Upon Thee, Albion, and all thy descendants. Surely they will know the exuberance of the twats at Arsenal being crushed once and for all and horribly dying, peace be upon them. May their trains run, in all kinds of snow, and not stop, because the engineers are having a piss break, or are just lazy tossing bastards.
I may prefer to take flying camels, but I love BR.

Prophet Geoff [beer be upon me]
Greetings Prophet Geoff and Albion.
Blessings be upon this thread.
When thou insultest the the gunners you insult the team of my father, yea verily, and the former Archbishop of Canterbury and Chief Rabbi (I don't know about the current Arch druid extraordinaire, he looks like a quoits man to me). Desist, sirrah, at once. Arsenal, Leyton Orient and Leeds are among the sacred ones. Reserve your opprobrium for Galatasaray!
Yea, Prophet Geoff
Please, in your infinite wisdom, we besiege thee to make the leaves a certain consistency & volume here in the green & pleasant land to make the morning rail journey of the mortals to our places of toil less prone to thine foliage stoppages.
Granny, thou art truly blessed with wisdom.
Peace Be Upon This Thread
In the name of W'Allahwalla, Peace be upon this thread.
Albion, I read with great dismay of the blocking of your travels with leaves. The obstinates! Indeed they know not. I shall speak to W'Allahwalla, the Merciful Destroyer of Leaves and Foliages, for he knows not that I knew not that the leaves did not know they were idolaters. But he did not know, when they knew not, and he may desire something for them that is good, even when they do not know if they wish that which is good for them not to know. You know? In any event, this is fard on all believers.
Granny, I thank you for your comments and I wish for you peace and freedom and eternal punishment for your naij belief in Arsenal and of the idolaters of Leeds. It is deen to prefer MU, though they commit shirk by their filthy singing, which Arsenal doth not, having nothing to be happy about, and deserving it. Verily, it is doubtful they even shave their behinds as courtesy and Allah demand.
Go in the peace and fear of Allah and make dua all over the Argies in Geneva.
So sayeth
Prophet Geoff [bbuh]
You guys are too funny.
