Charles Clarke has ordered the extradition of Babar Ahmad to the US to face trial on alleged terrorism offences, the Home Office has said.
It said the home secretary had "given full consideration" to representations made on Mr Ahmad's behalf.
Mr Ahmad, 31, a computer expert from Tooting, London, is accused of running websites that supported terrorists and urged Muslims to fight a holy war.
His family said they would appeal the extradition order in the High Court...
What I wonder about is why these figures cannot be trialed in the UK.
This will be a long dragged out process (several appeal options available) with PR opportunities for the Jihadists all the way. He should be put on trial over here in the UK immediately.
They just had his wife, Marianne (Western convert?) on Radio 4. Her response to the whole thing: The US and the UK made the world as it is at the moment. No need for the Muslim community to do a bit of self examination, or for increased vigilance. This statement was of course left unchallenged by the BBC presenter who gave her the 'run of the place' for a some more anti Western propaganda and veiled threats (is this how you reach out to a community whose goodwill you need etc).
