Why do they attack churches?
Simple: They believe we are "crusaders" and the church-leaders are militant and full of hatred, just like their imams and muftis in the mosques.

Australian beach riots
The media is uniformly portraying it as a racial issue -- and there are definite racial overtones. The Australian gangs chant about "Lebs," and the news reports say they are targeting "men of Middle Eastern appearance."
The "men of Middle Eastern appearance," for their part, started the whole thing with attacks on lifeguards. Here is some pertinent commentary from Paul Sheehan in the Sydney Morning Herald:

What has happened on consecutive weekends has been displays of two unpalatable subcultures, the yobbo beach tribes, and the Lebanese gangsta tribes. And it would be folly to airbrush away the reality that what started the Cronulla tensions was yet another provocation by the aggressive, repugnant Lebanese gangsta culture - itself an alien subculture within the Lebanese community - which has given Sydney dozens of shootings and murders, a spate of gang rapes, hundreds of sexual assaults, and thousands of deliberate racist provocations at Darling Harbour, the eastern and southern beaches and some of the big clubs in western Sydney, along with Canterbury Bulldogs rugby league matches.
At its worst, this culture had overtones of civil war, as the Kanaan gang sprayed the Lakemba police station with gunfire. One of those who took part in this attack was Saleh Jamal, now in jail in Lebanon on weapons charges. He has turned to Islamic fundamentalism and wanted to explode a terrorist bomb in Sydney before he fled the country.
The cops hate and fear the swarming packs of Lebanese who respond when some of their numbers are confronted, mobilising quickly via mobile phones and showing open contempt for Australian law. All this is the real world, as distinct from the world preferred by ideological academics who talk about "moral panic" and the oppression of Muslims. They will see only Australian racism as the problem.

Of course they would feel pressured not to say such a thing but the extra powers given to police and the refusal for some pollies to classify this as racism seem to me indications that they are aware there is more to these events than what they say.

Firstly, I just want to say how frustrating it is that the media is intent on portraying the events in Sydney as racially motivated, perpetrated by a bunch of drunken yobs. As other informed posters have said, this was clearly a case of aussies saying enough is enough.
Obviously Australians were collectively very upset about the events in Bali where close to 100 aussie holiday makers have been murdered simply because muslims object to our drinking alcohol, dressing in scant clothing (i.e. bikinis/ board shorts) and generally having a good time.
On top of that you have all the well publicised racially/ religiously motivated gang rapes (i.e. pakistani muslims) in Sydney and the arrests of 19 guys on terrorism charges who were apparently well advanced in their plans for mass murder of yet more innocent Australians in our own country. To cap it off an icon of the Australian way of life i.e. volunteer life guards, were assaulted for telling some lebanese guys to stop intimidating local beach goers with their kicking of soccer balls. Oh, not to mention 9/11, Madrid, London, Beslan etc. I mean, how much do good people who showed generosity of spirit by allowing muslims to migrate to Australia to avoid civil war in their own country have to put up with???
Australians really are very open, kind, generous and good spirited people as anyone who has ever visited this country can attest. We are proudly a multi-ethnic country. The problem is there is some sort of illogical movement by leftists and other ideologues to push us to some sort of delusional, multi-cultural utopia where even people intent on changing our fundamental rights and values are to be "tolerated". Its simply absurd!
The overwhelming majority of the 5000+ people who gathered at Cronulla were there to protest the injustice and absurdity invading our way of life. They weren't carrying weapons though there were some fist fights including one with a lebanese guy who challenged the crowd to a fight.. duh!. They were there primarily to protest and protect their way of life and that of their preceding generations.
Of course some people were drinking and of course it got a bit out of hand for about 20 minutes but the Australians didn't stab anyone or even put anyone in hospital for that matter, contrast that with the actions of the Lebanese who were armed, brandished guns, base ball bats with spikes and travelled to the beaches well away from their homes. They were looking for trouble whereas the Australians were there to make a statement and say no more intimidation of family's enjoying a day at the beach, no more dropping your litter and cigerette butts indiscriminantly, enough rapes, enough assaults, enough insults.
I love to surf, I love to go to the beach with friends and family and the last thing I would tolerate is a bunch of ungrateful, ignorant thugs ruining my day off (do these guys work?) and insulting my sisters, female friends and nieces. I'm a very fit and capable guy and if another guy of any ethnic/religious background made an insulting or intimidating remark or act towards one of my sisters etc I would not hesitate in responding appropriately. If the gesture or action was sufficiently degrading or intimidating and the authorities were unable or unwilling to respond then sometimes breaking someone's nose may well be justified.
If this gathering of protesting Australians had occurred on the Gold Coast I would have been the first there to show my support. I would not have assaulted anyone indiscriminately but I would have been keen to send a clear message to those who are intent on changing our lives for the lesser (be it muslims or their sympathisers) that their actions will not be tolerated, ever.
Notwithstanding the ill informed response of much of the media (particularly international) that tries to write off these events as a drunken, white rascist spree, the overwhelming majority of people that i know are proud of the response of the Australian community. I'm of the view that most Australians see through the PC bull***t. Muslims just can't contain themselves, they are letting the cat out of the bag for all to see. Its a shame to see the situation get to this point but you can't just ignore a problem which unquestionably will just keep growing if unchecked.

Just as a side story which I know is true some Lebs(between 16-20 years old) were at an ice rink harassing primary school aged children on the ice.A close friend of mine who acts as security kept telling them to calm down.He heard a scream and a thud so he turned to see a young child flat faced on the ice, so he skated over to him and as he lifted the child's head blood started pouring from a gash on his forehead.He asked the childs friends what happened and they pointed to the Lebs and said that one of them tripped him over.The child received 16 stitches to that wound.My friend also plays ice hockey twice a week so he is a very good player and he is quite large.As one was standing laughing my friend skated to him and dropped him on the spot, the Leb hitting the ice unconscious. Another watched what happened to his mate and skated to the boards and tried to get over it,he didn't make it all the way over as my mate checked him and the Leb snapped three ribs.One started running(still with skates on)to the Mens toilet, luckily for this one he made it there but my mate followed him in as well(you can guess what happened).When my friend came out he said that the other Lebs were gone,he asked where they went and witnesses said that their mates picked them up and left.The reason why my friend went OFF is because his sister was gang raped in 2000.
This only happened two days ago.

I suspect that it won't happen on that scale, in America, because gun ownership even in the politically correct cities like New York, is limited. And it is possible to own a gun at home for self-defense.

After 911, I help escort a coworker (a Muslim) to his sister's school because he feared that she would be attack because of her Hijab. She was not attacked- very little violence happened to any Muslims after the attack on the World Trade Center- but he was so afraid and kept telling me that since Americans have so many guns she would be shot. His fear a response that never came was palpable.
This was before the average American knew anything about Islam.
Since then, I have witnessed several confrontations one between two security officers at the airport. In this case, a coworker had a physical confrontation with another Muslim Officer. He was an ex-marine just back from Iraq and snapped when the other man was saying that 911 was justified; he had many friends who died from the attack.
To my astonishment he was not removed from his post.
The Muslim coworker a very cocky guy, who would brag about his female conquests, even after he brought his Muslim wife from his country, left out of shame. He was flattened to the ground and his face was bleeding from just one punch. He looked like a wimp.
There were a few lawsuits back and forth but the ex-marine won out.
I think that now after so much has happened and how much more educated people are, Americans would respond with a lot less retrain
I think the Muslim community in the US knows that.
Let's hope that their are no more attacks, because unlike Europe, gun ownership is very high and in America we have a tradition of self-defense.
I fear the response would wipe out the Muslim community.

In New York the NYPD gotten a lot of info from the Muslim community, in some case stoped attacks.
Before these trouble makers are allowed into the country,all Western countries and Australia should get a written undertaking from the would be immigrants that , in case of any riots or damage to the properties of Government,locals,Churches,etc,to which they are directry,or indirectly responsible, they agree for their deportaion without enquiery. They must also agree in a written statemnet, that they will respect the local culture,religion,and way of life of the 'Sons of the Soil' of that country, and will not try to impose their way of life on them. For this,the immigrating country must issue a 'temporary Citizen ship' document to them,instead of a full Citizenship.Only after 20 years,based on their conduct,their citizenship should be made permanent.

Excellent post. I'm on the other side of the globe and I am as frustrated as you are. I've been thinking about solutions to this media bias in the coverage of the events. (e.g., the ridiculous attempt to label 5000 ordinary young people as "racists"). One thing (among many things) that could be done is to get as much of these assaults and harrassments on video (or film). Surely there are some Australian filmakers who would do a documentary on this, covering the violence, as well as the media's inability to properly report who is doing what. And with small video cameras so popular now, probably lots of people have some video of the events. Also recordings and transcriptions of interviews with victims of the assaults are also needed, and such audio and video material could be submitted to the police and media outlets. Every time the Lebs utter a misogynist slur threatening to rape Australian girls, etc., or when they attack someone, this should be plastered all over the evening news. A few weeks back we saw the video of the Islamic terrorist suspects (and/or their friends) attacking a camera crew--this got world-wide attention. Image sequences like those stick in peoples' minds.
I also believe formal complaints procedures should be pursued against the media outlets who are misreporting this and deliberately portraying a crowd of 5000 people, for example, as racist.
I hope that my above post is not misinterpreted, when I said, " that the Muslim community would be wiped out ". I did not mean individual Muslins who though may harbor support for the Jihad, may not be active participants.
What I meant to say, was that the institutions of the Muslim presence in America, the madrases, mosques, the Saudi economic presence and Islamic institutions, would be wiped out.
