EU threatens to block aid to PA if Hamas wins election

Startling anti-dhimmitude from Solana. From Al-Bawaba, with thanks to Sr. Soph:

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Sunday warned that the EU could halt financial aid to the Palestinian Authority if Hamas wins January's Palestinian elections and fails to renounce violence.

"All the political parties have the right to be part of the elections, but there is a certain code of conduct that has to be accepted by everybody," Solana told reporters during a visit to Tel Aviv. "It's very difficult that parties who do not condemn violence...can be partners for the future."

According to Solana, an administration including a party which failed to clearly reject violence and recognize Israel's right to exist could not continue to receive EU funding. "It would be very difficult for the help and the money that goes to the Palestinian Authority to continue to flow," he said, according to news agencies. "The taxpayers in the European Union, members of the parliament of the European Union, will not be in a position to sustain that type of political activity."

Yawnn!!

The EU with testicles????

You have to be joking!!

However we can hope.

what makes the EU believe that the PA has denounced violence, they certainly do not try to stop it! take the money away now! only return it when violence has been stopped. Hamas people are just yawning at the latest EU statements...and laughing at them at the same time!

Hold your horses.

... Solana told reporters during a visit to Tel Aviv.

Nuff said!

Cynic is right.

With each passing day, with each extra muslime birth and muslime immigrant, the EU loses some leeway, some flexibility and some will in retaining its own sovereignity. I seriously doubt Solana has grown a pair of bal_s in a hurry.

Consider for instance the intrasigence of France and germany in the runup to the Iraq War. We in the US couldn't really have expected a France or a Germany to have aided in the Iraq war when their major citiers are ringed in by muslime ghettos. And we naively thought somehow 'persuading' a Chirac or a Schroeder was the task before us! They cynically and cunnigly made virtue out of necessity by jumping onto the often-deluded 'peace-platform'.

Still, even if the EU stops raising the PA-aid level, that is good enough under the circumstances. One must not forget to be thankful for small mercies (esp. in the Christmas season, eh?) (:D)

The EU wants their Islam[ist] cocktail with a dash of taqiyya.

Why do the EU and US continue to waste money on the so-called Palestinians? The same "Palestinians" who violate every agreement and continue to advocate violence. Giving money to the "Palestinians" is the same as throwing it down a rat hole. How about giving money to the poor in South America or Africa or the US instead?

Talk is cheap.

The EU is without a doubt the most pathetic implementation of the democratic freedom model in world history.

Their threat is weak tit: "If you guys install Jihadists as your leadership then we're gonna cut back on our Jizya payment." Scary indeed! And anyway, if the cowardly EU put a stop payment on its Jizya check, surely George and Condi would fall over themselves to make up the difference.

"The EU wants their Islam[ist] cocktail with a dash of taqiyya."

Wow, good one! Is there a Nobel Pun Prize?

Now I'll never hear the song "Tequila" in quite the same way.

All the more fitting in light of the old nickname for tequila, "Ta Kill Ya." ;)

No doubt that if Hamas gains enough seats in the PA, they will incooperate the 36 articles of the Hamas charter into the PA's contitutional process. Not that Palestinians don't follow its tenants already.

I thought that the PA was a terrorists organization itself???? Why make payments anyway??

Nothing about Javier Solana inspires confidence. Notice that "if Hamas wins" and "if Hamas, upon winning, does not change its spots" are the two criteria which might, maybe, perhaps, forse, peut-etre, mozhet byt', could possibly conceivably it isn't beyond the range of possibility lead to some slight consideration or reconsideration of the billions of dollars of new jizyah that will be paid by the European countries (and supplemented by the United States) as yet another injection of ill-deserved cash following upon the billions that magicaly vanished when Arafat died (and no one bothered to mention it or think it might be reasonable to request a thorough search for those billions which those long-suffering Infidel taxpayers), and that these billions of Infidel jizyah, designed to placate the local Arab Muslim shock-troops (aided by some mediagenic "Palestinian" islamochristians) of the relentless Jihad against Israel which is merely a subset of, a little opening wedge, in what has become, and cannot be tamped down, a world-wide Jihad against non-Muslims everywhere, and that the E.U. and the other Infidels have reached such a pass that even a hint about possibly denying some Jizyah is taken as a great act of moral intelligence shows what a pretty pass we have come to -- come to because of the likes of the stupid and the sinister and the silly Javier Solana.

Was it J. Middleton Murry, or someone else, who in discussing the endless sentences of Henry James described his style as resembling "a hippotopotamus tryiing to pick up a pea"? Well, the matter in question is much bigger than a pea -- it is the size of the entire giddy globe.

Those EU guys are dumber than a sack of hammers. Hamas will promise them anything, take whatever they can get, and continue jihad anyway. Then when caught, they whine, cry, and blame the Jews or G Bush.

If the people vote the Hamas into power then it shows where the thinking of the people really is. It means that the people see the Hamas as the best, and it is the Hamas and their deadly horrific regime that they want. We now have no right to interfer, they have had the chance to make a difference and they have made their choice, so we must now pull out, take our money with us, and let them continue to kill each other...But we somehow must make sure that they cannot go outside their borders to kill us.

Hamas...the Palestinian Authority..what, in the final analysis, is the difference (other than the pace of the ongoing jihad against Israel)? Nothing has changed under Abbas's leadership of the PA - no renunciation of the PLO Charter, no disarmament of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Al Aksa Brigade, et al. Missiles continue to be fired into Israel daily. The Palestinian "leadership" has failed to implement any - and every - agreement they have entered into. Since this is the case, the PA is legally entitled to no financial assistance whatsoever, yet the West continues to pay Jizya, turning a blind eye to what is so obvious to anyone who pays even passing attention.

Soon, if the pressure continues, Hamas will merely change the name of their organization. The EU will buy it, explaining to the astonished non-dhimmis that Hamas may have had a change of heart and we need to give them a chance to prove themselves. End of story. America will make it sound like some sort of "historic " step toward democracy. Meanwhile Jews will continue to get murdered for a "Peace."

People get what they deserve. If Hamas is what the Palestinians want they will get them. Why should any western nation support the like of Hamas is beyond me, as they will never renounce violence or take part in a democratic society.
