Jihad to spread Islam does not rely on military conquest alone. Where outright military conquest has not been possible, the fruits of Da'wa and demographic conquest (migration to Lands of the Infidels, and then outbreeding them) certainly can lead and has led to Muslim dominance. "Migration" as a new weapon of Jihad is in fact discussed explicitly in the most mainstream publications -- e.g., the newspaper "Dawn" in Pakistan.Immigrants may come for all sorts of reasons. But there is no reason why Infidels should not wonder if, whatever their other reasons, as long as they remain Believers, that they will not lend their support, direct or indirect, to the Jihad -- if only by helping to misinform unwary Infidels. Furthermore, the first-generation economic immigrant can be transformed from "moderate” who seems fully integrated to "immoderate" prepared to kill Infidels: see the case of Intel engineer Mike Hawash, who was a smashing American success story until he got that old-time religion and went off to western China, hoping to join the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and kill his fellow Americans. And still another problem is that of "My Son the Fanatic" -- the second or third-generation Muslim who, for all sorts of reasons (personal setbacks or depression, which can strike anyone, and which may have certain consequences if one views the universe through the prism of Islam) may embrace completely what Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira teach -- rather than ignore those teachings, or the most dangerous of them. Again, how can Infidels separate out those who come and will never be a threat from those who come and seem harmless but can change, or from those whose children may, at some Manchurian-Candidate point in the future, be set off?
The answer is: those helpless Infidels can not. Surely that is worth pointing out.
For all these reasons and more, Da'wa and demographic conquest from within are far more dangerous than outright terrorism, and it will require a change in mental makeup for the Infidels to deal with them properly. Yes such a change is not forthcoming. So far the rulers of Infidel have foolishly focused their efforts not on addressing and defeating this da’wa and demographic conquest, but on allowing Muslims in large numbers to settle within their lands, behind what many of those Muslims themselves consider to be enemy lines. This has created a situation unprecedented in human history, and one which everyone is pretending is not what it is, because they lack the wit and imagination to figure out how to deal with this situation. But it can and must be dealt with, in ways that may not require mass expulsions. (Although the tendency to recoil in horror at the prospect of mass expulsions is a modern development; they have, after all, been a feature of Middle Eastern life forever. Just recently, there were the one million Yemenis booted out of Saudi Arabia overnight, the 400,000 "Palestinians" booted out of Kuwait, the 900,000 Jews who fled from Arab lands in 1948-1951, the hundreds of thousands of Egyptians and other non-Libyans expelled from Libya, the hundreds of thousands of Syrians now being pushed back into Syria from Lebanon, and so on -- all these show that this kind of thing is routine in the Arab Muslim world.)No, it is not only, and not mainly, Islamic "terrorism" that is the threat, but the slow and steady takeover, simply through numbers, that can do the trick where military force can not. But this can only be recognized by those who are willing to study, and re-study, and study even more, the doctrines of Islam, and the history of Islamic conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims, and the persistence and immutability of those teachings, those attitudes, those atmospherics that make even the most "moderate" of Muslims essentially part of the problem, for we do not know when, and why, such a "moderate" may change, or when, or why, his progeny may do so.
Yet Westerners continue to act against their own best interests. Oriana Fallaci's La Forza della Ragione details just how fully many in the Vatican, and individual bishops and priests, have collaborated in making Italy, and other parts of Europe, welcoming for Muslims, even handing over churches for use by Muslims as living quarters. Her long indictment is overwhelming. It goes far beyond the desire to placate Muslims because otherwise they may harm Christians in the Middle East, and has become a vehicle for those priests who detest their own civilization, and exhibit a diseased sympathy for those who would not, for one minute, were Muslims to rule, to tolerate them or their own believers.
We cannot bet our own civilization on some concocted and mostly exaggerated notion of "moderate" Islam. The stakes are too high for mistakes, for feelgood niceness, for assuming the best in everyone, for refusing to believe that those who make the most terrible threats and plans really do mean it.

I don't see how something can be contrived and exagerrated at the same time.
If the concept of Moderate Moslems is false, and it is, then how can it be exagerrated? The word "exagerrated" implies that there is a core of moderacy within Islam that is being puffed by Jihadists and dhimmis.
There is no such core. At its heart Islam is fundamentally radical in a way never dreamed for a so-called religion. Its central proposition to murder and/or subjugate all non-Moslems renders every Moslem -- not some, not most, but every -- Moslem to be a self-declared combatant and therfore a felon, in other words, a dirty-ass low-life criminal.

It will be quite the project to expulse tens of millions of Moslems, a logistical feat the likes of which has never before been seen. By default, then, part of the removal must inevitably be by bloodbath, and part must be by Moslems fleeing in terror.
The solution won't be pretty. The Moslems themselves will see to that.
But infidel "leadership" will want to keep it pretty, which is why it may never happen at all. And that leaves us with the alternative, forced upon us by the relentless aggressor.
To fight a monster, you have to get monstrous. Thus the discredited but pervasive effort to smother Scowling Moslems with money, love, and material advantage. A sure recipe for disaster.

I think we can all agree that the jihadists will not allow (have not allowed) the fight to be contained within Dar al-Islam.
Any effective strategy to neutralize Islam should include confrontation in both Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb. An active campaign within Dar al-Islam exposes the vulnerabilities of their religion / way of life and questions the omnipotence of Allah. Confrontation and rejection of Islam in Dar al-Harb also shows the vulnerabilities of Islam in that Islamic conquest of the infidels is not a certainty and a rejection of his prophesies.
What are Islam’s weak points that can be exploited? A strictly military confrontation within Dar al-Islam plays directly to Islam’s strong suit. After all they’ve been at each other’s throats for over a thousand years and are still around and are expanding! So to support Hugh’s suggestion to let them fight amongst themselves to serve as a distraction to the Dar-al-Harb sounds like just ONE piece of the solution. How do we as “infidels” support the internal dissention within Dar al-Islam to hasten a religious /cultural reform? How does Dar al-Harb unite under a coherent unified rejectionist front to stop the spread of Islamic imperialism? I don’t think we will have answers to my last two questions any time soon.
As evidenced by recent articles posted on this site when one challenges the basics of Islam and the ways it is currently being practiced one is labeled a racist. When one brings to light the cruel and barbaric tactics of Islamic Jihadists the Western Intellectual elite and Islamic apologists crawl out of the woodwork with references to the Crusades, the utterly fabricated tale of Jewish genocide of the Palestinians, and US and European colonialism ( to be read as genocide of native people).

Being charged with this stereotype is entirely unavoidable. Such is the cost of conducting Anti-Dhimmi business in the open.
What is needed is a change in context. And the Scowling Moslems will see to that, their fervid little minds are being worked overtime to come up with ways to actualize the Sunnah.
Islam is very good at taking over a person's identity. I saw a program in which a woman, born and raised a muslim said, that if she wasn't a muslim then she wouldn't have an identity.
That is the hold that Islam has. By the time that a person has grown up as a muslim, then the normal self-discovery which other kids engage in, is transplanted by a religion which supplants their identity.
Another man said that Jihad gave him a meaning in life, that he otherwise wouldn't have if he wasn't a muslim.
Islam is Evil - its not a religion but an Evil Arab ideology, promulgated by an illiterate evil maniac in the 7th century; it needs to be eradicated like the plague in the West. Slightly OT. I just read/skimmed Raphael Patai's "The Arab Mind". Granted it's quite a few years old but when I started shouting at it like I do the TV I knew it was time to back away from the book. He kept saying what dear friends these Arabs were to him.
The part that still has me shaking my head is the description of how male babies are treated. The mothers diddle them "to make them smile", jolly them up, stop them from crying.
Patai did mention FGM and said it was to stop women from being so "excitable" and left it at that. But did say some woman "trained" in the procedure would be the perpetrator. That would be the woman with the dirty fingers digging, the sharpened bit of glass hacking away, the filthy rag to wipe up the mess. Maybe he didn't have room to talk about that part since he really wanted to get to the part about how his friends hug him so heartily.
Everything is so warm and jolly about them though once you ignore one or two or more things. Who are we to judge their tribal desert culture stuck in Dark Ages?

Patai scants Islam. He writes about "the Arab mind" and not "the Muslim mind." But what counts is the "Muslim mind" -- the mind raised on, formed by, inextricably connected to, Islam. And Patai can be here and there entirely too snetimental.
For a corrective, a digestif, some Angostura bitters, read on-line or in paper, Andre Servier's "The Psychology of the Musulman." That will help.
Mr. Spencer eloquently put as usual, however I am intrigued as to what you think the creative alternative to mass expulsions are.
Unless you are aware of some new mind control technology that will be able to override the insidiousness of Islamic indoctrination, I see no other alternative but to outlaw Islam, dismantle the infrastructure i.e. pull down the mosques and repatriate those that refuse to denounce jihad. Those that do denounce jihad should then be forced to serve in the military for 5 years on the very same project to prove their allegiance to the nation. You are right that the project to expulse Islamists is not going to be pretty. The thing is there are some people who just refuse to realize how far down the path to dhimmitude their countries are. The problem is how do you build such a movement in the short time remaining before the Jihadists are too well entrenched. The front lines are going to have to be Europe again and the only way we can get to this situation is if the Nationalist parties like the Front National and British National Party are put in a position where even if they don’t have complete executive power they have enough popular support to influence the main stream parties.
It saddens me to think such a thing but after many years of watching the demographic Da’Wa spread across Europe I see no other alternative, If the nationalists don’t get in Europe will be subjugated to the Caliphate, just imagine what is going to happen when they throw open the EU doors to Turkey.

Little wonder then that so many muslims rejoiced at 911, Madrid, Beslan etc. Their human morality has been replaced and indeed forbidden, by a belief system that forbids the very notions that we are born with and exercise in the west.

I was looking up the word "Infidel" online since I was curious about Hugh's (probably) ironic use of it to refer to us. I assume Hugh is not a Moslem. Anyway, at the bottom of the definition (Merriam-Webster) are some ads by Google. One for "Islamic Cleansing" which I don't think means cleaning away Moslems (but it should) and another A Former Muslim Speaks Out, by Mohammed Saleem, now a Christian. I just finished reading 'The Psychologt of the Musulman' by Andre Servier. One of the libraries in my university happened to have a 1923 print of the book.
Servier details a fascinating analysis. However, Hugh though I dislike using the term, the book is pretty 'racist'. Servier talks of the black man as the barbarian who had been elevated to the Arab's level through Islam. His analysis of the hold of the religion on people's minds and the subsequent story of the conquered peoples is absolutely brilliant and precise. Even his strategies of 'containment' and 'concealment' are needed today.
However, Servier does suffer from the racism of the times, I should say. Does someone beg to differ? Hugh your response would be greatly appreciated.

past it, but if that book has some applicable
wisdom, then we'll need to glean what we can from

I've mentioned this before, but the major city in which I live has standing orders for first responders (fire and EMS) to NOT report to police 911 calls made by American Moslems when a kitchen table clitorodectomy goes bad.

Servier's book contains the unacceptable and the acceptable. The unacceptable has been described above. He was a man of his time, and anyone reading the literature of the period will not fail to be struck by certain remarks, struck and disturbed and repelled. But one makes allowances based on history. Pushkin uses the word "zhid" in 1820 and we forgive him, though a writer that used such a word today would not be. Jefferson writes about blacks -- and he was a slave-owner -- that one can be sure someone akin to Jefferson, now alive, would not express, would not think, and of course, would have shared the moral advance that Wilberforce, Theodore Parker, and the Anti-slavery socities of the Western world helped to bring about.
Don't ignore Servier's intolerable parts. But do not, because of those parts, ignore when he is discussing not a "race" or an ethnic group, but rather what the title promises -- the "psychology of the Musulman." Do his views, uninhibited, accord with what you have learned about Islamic teachings and attitudes, for what he wrote circa 1920 should be relevant today, since Islamic doctrines and the attitudes to which they naturally give rise have not changed? Does it ring true, and are you surprised at how relieved you are to find someone from the past so accurately describing, and analyzing, what lies behind today's, this week's, this year's, news stories? Or should we, because of his comments outside of the topic he took, ignore him altogether, dismiss him, not see what may be of value? We don't dismiss the Declaration of Independence, "Notes on the State of Virginia," the ingenious devices at Monticello and the carefully-planned parterres and extensive vegetable gardens, nor are we inclined to disregard the "academical village" he laid out for the University of Virginia, nor do we ignore even his notes on prosody, or natural history, because of his being, like Shakespeare with "A Merchant of Venice." a man of his time and place.
