ISLAMABAD, Dec 1: Islam is the true guardian of women rights, a Judge from Liverpool, United, Ms Marilyn Morington, said here on Thursday. She was speaking at a seminar on "Violence against Women and Criminal Justice System: Challenge and Response", organized by the Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) in collaboration with the Islamabad police.The judge cited verses from the Holy Quran and referred to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and said: "Islam is a religion which lays emphasis on giving the women their due rights."
Their "due rights." Evidently not "equal" rights -- unless some key sections of the Qur'an were ignored. The Qur'an, after all:

- Declares that a woman's testimony is worth half that of a man: "Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her" (2:282);
- Allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: "If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice" (4:3);
- Rules that a son's inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: "Allah (thus) directs you as regards your children's (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females" (4:11);
- Tells husbands to beat their disobedient wives: "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them" (4:34).

A largish minority of our lawyers, and thus ultimately our judiciary, used to be Jewish. Although they were never the controlling Zionist conspiritors of Islamic legend. However these last few years there has been a move to make the judiciary "more diverse". A Judge gets paid a lot of money by my standards, but not by the standards of a good earning pracising lawyer. There was a time that a senior lawyer was honoured to serve his/her country as a Judge and was prepared to accept a drop in income so to do. But under the "diversity" camouflage less dedicated, less able, people have slipped in.
"Marilyn Morington" appears to be District Judge Marilyn Mornington LLB Hons (Sheff) FRSA.

English readers may correct me but the writer is either confused with Manchester United (a soccer club) or Liverpool United (which I think was the former name of Liverpool Football Club (also a soccer club).
Nevertheless, Marilyn Mornington's type is familiar to lawyers in Australia. Doesn't do law; does social welfare. A quick glance at her biographical notes, in the link above, will give you the flavour of the lady.
She appears to have gained some notoriety in England recently because of the protest outside her home by Fathers4 Justice. Al Guardian's non by lined article (hatchet job) linked below gives the story.

18 July 2005 and corrected the next day.

Shiv Malik's article, quoting the well researched Judge, is dated 25 July 2005. Apparently, the good Judge did not read the Guardian correction of 19 July 2005.
This is a Judge who is supposed to have some respect for the facts yet she quotes a Guardian article without any attempt at verification.

This is disheartening, to say the least. But consider the source here -- a Pakistani publication, complete with an unnamed reporter, and dubious writing quality (Liverpool, United?). From what I've read in some other Islam-biased publications, any story can be twisted to show supposed support for Islam.
Although we can cut Morington a bit of slack due to the above, there's still room for questioning her assertions here, for this judge should have been unequivocal in her condemnation of any code which affords women less than equal status -- no pandering to "cultural" issues, etc. That she didn't say this loudly and clearly (especially when she had such an excellent forum) shows she's obviously unthinking and/or has been duped. "True guardian of women's rights"? -- does Morington live with her head in the sand?
To come out with tripe like that, she must speak with her severed head in a basket. Obviously, she hasn't heard of honour killings or seem Moslem women wearing hideous tents, but that shows how far detached from reality the judiciary are in the UK, and it sounds like she's the sort of berk who would have sentenced the Yorkshire Ripper to community service for his crimes.
The only rights she should be upholding are those enshrined in British/European law. Unfortunately, the tendency of British judges to interpret the law (often when there are Muslims involved, as in the infamous case of the Luton schoolgirl's "right" to flout uniform policy in her school) is becoming ever more frequent. Judges like this are making it easier for Islamists to diddle around with our laws and insidiously wheedle Sharia into the law of the land little by little. It seems that brainwashed "bints" like her, the Bunting woman and other ultra lefties who for some peculiar reason have become enamoured of this religion, are setting the clock back hundreds of years for women, including Muslim women who might benefit from throwing off the shackles imposed by their husbands, brothers and fathers.
l think her fellow judges should send her to pakistan, and let her live like one of their women!! stupid cow!
