Of course, Red Ken's friendship with Sheikh Qaradawi suggests that the peaceful subjugation and Islamization of the West, which Qaradawi has predicted, is perfectly fine with him. He just wishes these good people wouldn't use bombs. From AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
LONDON - Terrorists tried to attack London eight times between the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States and last July 7, when suicide bombers killed dozens on the city's transport system, London's mayor said Monday.Ken Livingstone said there had been two attempted attacks since July 7, including a failed attack on the transport network on July 21....
He dismissed suggestions by some government ministers and police chiefs that the city is the target of a "great organized international conspiracy."
"Largely what you're talking about is fairly disorganized and small groups of disaffected people," Livingstone said in an interview on British Broadcasting Corp. radio.
"This not a great organized international conspiracy with orders flowing down the chain."
No indeed, not a conspiracy as such. Just an immense group of people with identical goals. But that nicety has escaped the Lord Mayor.
CORRECTION: Befuddled Yank that I am, I thought the Mayor of London was the Lord Mayor, but the commenters have corrected me below. I am just gobsmacked to learn that there are two mayors of London, and dead chuffed that there are kind people here willing to set me straight. Thanks to all!
Until multiculturalism came along, we didn't have many chinks in our western armour. Now there's a breach in the wall. We question even the most basic clauses in our social contract, to avoid offending those who would rip up the contract.
This could very well be the stupidest person on the face of the earth.
this mayor needs to be put out to pasture! does it matter is it's a planned conspiracy or as he puts it
'"Largely what you're talking about is fairly disorganized and small groups of disaffected people," Livingstone said in an interview on British Broadcasting Corp. radio.
"This not a great organized international conspiracy with orders flowing down the chain."
\Either way, London is a target! so get real people, vote out this idoit!!!
The Spanish Civil War wasn't a big organized international conspiracy, but it nevertheless drew in like-minded people from around the world, all of whom had some basic leanings towards what Marx and Engels wrote.
We seem to hear from Mayor Livingston a bit to much on these matters. Is he the "go to all" on these kind of problems? As mayor; does Livingston over see, or have some experts on the problems with Islam? If he does, then God help us because it sounds like he doesn't have clue as to what is really going on with fundamental Islam here.
Any Brits still awake that can comment on this ?
that's like saying killer bees aren't dangerous because they don't attack you like ants....
No one can excuse this to sheer stupidy from Livingstone.
He has i believe, like Galloway alternative agendas. Hopefully as in the former case they will one day be exposed.
During the Cold War, the Red Ken's of the world assured us that Communism was not really a threat because it was "not monolithic."
The majority of Brits I speak to have a growing unease and distaste for Islam, those of my fathers generation in their 70's seem to detest it in a major way. All those that I speak to have a lot of anger and frustration. Quite a few just can not see anyway to deal with it so put their heads in the sand, which is true of most Europeans.
As for saying it is not a great organized international conspiracy with orders flowing down the chain, I think that is rubbish. I read military history, I am a strategist, there is a core strategy in this, and the central group pushing it is the Muslim Brotherhood, ok they are one of a number pushing it, but I think they are the linking group across the spectrum of different jihadist groups.
we, trhe british people are fed up to the back teeth with george, i dont know how he ever got voted in, the mans a traiter to britain and should be kicked out, and sent to live in one of his glorious islamic country....
I'd like some information on the dates of these attempted attacks, for I suspect that some were before Iraq.

The BBC version of the comments. An early candidate for Dhimmi of the year 2006 I think.
We all know the real reason, and more people are getting the idea. Work is being done which hopefully will result in sufficient people realising the truth in time.
Iraq is a handy excuse, but there are plenty of other excuses available. British troops entered Iraq on 21 March 2003.

The incident involving the "Six Algerian men" when ricin poison was found in north London occured in January 2003.

They had probably been making the stuff during 2002.
But that nicety has escaped the Lord Mayor.
Ken Livingstone is the Mayor of London (elected), not the Lord Mayor of London. The Lord Mayor is mainly a ceremonial figure. Confusingly he is Mayor of the City of London.
How to tell them apart? The Lord Mayor has a show every year; Ken Livingstone makes a show of himself every day. Dick Whittington was Lord Mayor of London and did not really have a cat. Ken Livingstone is Mayor of London and does not really keep newts. And Dick Whittington will be turning in his grave if he knows what company Red Ken has been keeping.
This foiled attempt to shoot down a plane over Heathrow was also planned (Feb 2003) prior to the entry of British troops into Iraq.

Ken was one of the few people in London who found the IRA cuddly, inoffensive people in the seventies/eighties, the same way as he finds the Islamofascists such lovable types now.
Interested,
Thank you. Correction added above.

"... there are two mayors of London..."
And no leader.
Remember when England had leaders, was a fount of leadership? Hmmm. What political ideology took over England since the days of Maggie and before that Churchill?
Red ken is just another leftwing apologist..
I had direct experience to another of the same old labour guard who was also an MEP and most importantly to me was the father of my now Ex-girlfriend.
I have a lot of stuff from the lefties horses mouth that I should go to the papers with but I cant be arsed...it's a f***kin playground and I might lose my temper...anyway.
The mis-information that goes on in these peoples minds is untold.
They sit in there VERY comfortable ivory towers spouting anything that fits there bitter position of basically hating anything American or to do with New Labour.
They are all Stalinists and got booted out of the Labour party and now grind there axes and allie themselves to any vicious hate filled group if it furthers there ultimate aims of scoring party politic points against the Labour Party.
Being an artist I consider myself a free thinker and naively assumed I would be entering a world of free and progressive thought.
But it was quite to the contrary.
The constant anti-americanism,the blind insistence that everything was about imperialist aggression was more than I could bear.
I think eventually I was pressured out.
The wooden tongue is active in the 21st century.
The Lefts ignorance to me is blinding.Their denial of islamofacism and acceptance of historical revisionism to me is astonishing.
One of the last things I said to my girlfriend was.."be very careful who your marching next to when you go flag waving towards parliament square"
Meaning all the islamofacist groups that the left has got into bed with.(including red ken)
It fell on deaf ears...although my experience is living in a prodominantly muslim area for at least 15 years it held no sway with the hard nosed lefty politician who'd spent the majority of his life ensconced in an upper class 10 bedroomed manse with not a brown face for 30 miles.
Still he read the independant so that made him my superior.
It was there that my admiration for Kurt Vonnegut when up in a puff of smoke after reading some of his daily faxes to this certain personage.
Has Kurt been nominated for dhimmi of the year?
He should have.
