Pakistani Christians Forced From Homes

A "culture of disrespect and abuse." From Zenit, with thanks to all who sent this in:

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, DEC. 2, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Christians are being expelled from their homes in Pakistan to make room for victims of the earthquake that hit Kashmir and the northwestern region of the country in early October.

Reports from Catholic leaders spearheading the relief work following the earthquake say that hundreds or even thousands of people near Joharabad, close to Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, are being made homeless, with no prospect of alternative accommodation being found.

In an interview with Aid to the Church in Need, Bishop Anthony Lobo of Islamabad-Rawalpindi said he feared that the incident of forced ejections he had uncovered was just one of many taking place across the region.

The bishop continued: "In one district near Joharabad, all the people are being thrown out -- all of them are Christians. We are the most vulnerable people, we are very poor and we are easy targets."

He said the ejections were all the more insulting to the Christian community because the government had plenty of land of its own on which to house the displaced Kashmiri people....

Catholics in Pakistan are widely expected to interpret the incident in the Joharabad area as a slap in the face after the Church mounted a huge relief operation to help the victims of the quake, and specifically set out to help people regardless of their religious and social background....

Bishop Lobo said the forced ejections were symptomatic of a culture of disrespect and abuse suffered by Christians across Pakistan.

I am so not surprised.

As if this was something that wouldn't happen, what surprises me is all the stupid minorities including Hindus who chose to remain in Pakiland after the partition, what were they doing? Smoking the Hukkah?

Naseem must be proud of her countryman.

This makes my blood boil. I would like to take all of Pakistan's Christians into the US and exchange them with all the members and management of CAIR.

This is exactly why I refuse to donate any money to this country. These people do not deserve our charity.

Lets examine how christians and muslims react to earthquakes in neighbouring countries. In 1988 an earthquake hit armenia. The very next day Turkey responded with sanctions. The border has been closed since. In 1996 Turkey is hit by an earthquake, neighboring rival Greece sends aid. The liberal world media sees this as proof of a tolerant Turkey( not sure how exactly). I just love how both countries are commended. Now in 2005 India and Pakistan are hit by earthquakes. India predominantly Hindu offers aid to Pakistan, even though Pakistan illegally occupies Indian territory. Pakistan does not offer aid in return and punishes minorities in its own countries. I have no idea how people cant see how sick these people are.

Barnabus Fund, the charity that helps persecuted Christians and that Granny often mentions, has a special fund for Pakistani Christians.

Nice one Mrs S.
It's not just me, DP111 has been a supporter for years. They need all the support they can get.

W the C;

The posts you allude to, requesting donations, coupled with this news item, would make a powerful statement regarding the sick dichotomy inherent to Islam.

If that doesn't put a sick feeling in your gut you better check for a pulse.

I might have to make some copies for my soapbox sessions.

Slightly OT;

Picked up a copy of "The Long War For Freedom, The Arab Struggle for Democracy" by Barry Rubin.
John Wiley and Sons, Nov2005, ISBN 0-471-73901-4

Slow going because I spend so much time shaking my head. The single most bizarre region in the world.

Where is The ACLU?
Where is Jimy Carter?
Where is Ted Kenedy?
Where is Jesse Jackson?
Where is The Reverend AL?
Where are the Newspapers?
Where are the Hollywood stars?
Where are the TV Camera crews?

There too busy working with Al-Jazerra and with our enemies to help them defeat America...

I realize that some will consider this in bad taste, but when the earthquake hit Pakistan, and
we were hearing about all of the dead, I told my
wife that "now would be a great time to attack.
Let the bombing commence!"

In a few years, you'll all come around ;-)

Truth said: "I want to take all Pakistan christians to United States" It is a very good idea for both USA and the suffering lot of Pakistan. These people will be faithful, merge with the locals, and will not plot against their host country,Similarly, the suffering lebanese christians,Goptic christians of Egypt, Iranian christians,Eastern Orthodox christians of the middle east,Hinus(only) from India, cylone ,and the budhist chinese-will ever be faithful to the western world. They will never betray you as they are taught tobe faithful to their protectors, unlike the muslims.

Angelia Jolie was in pakistan wearing a hijab and doing a photo-op pleading for aid for the pakistani "people". How can we show mercy to those merciless blood-thristy beasts while they kill the most defensless people and through them out in the cold. If we cannot feel pity for Pakistan's christians than we should be just stone-hearted. Not a cent to Muslims--- Not a single red cent. No Charity of any kind, no shopping in their stores, no buying their few products that they manage to make, no buying from a muslim salesman or saleswoman, not even a smile at them.

Every penny given to Muslims in a way of charity or commarce is akin to a spit in the face of sufering christians lingering in agony.

Will Christian leaders be outraged over this cruel injustice, or will they once again overlook the abuse of Muslims towards Christians? I fear there will be no outcry from the Vatican or any other Christian groups. There is a huge and continual betrayal of Christians living in Islamic countries. With a few brave and noble exceptions, Christians in the West have utterly failed their fellow believers.

This brings to mind this tragic story from seven years ago"

"The Catholic bishop of Faisalabad, Dr. John Joseph, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head in front of the local sessions court, which had sentenced a Christian to death.

The suicide of the bishop, a well-known human rights activist and chairman of the National Justice and Peace Commission, marked his protest against the death sentence awarded to Ayub Masih, a member of the Christian community, by the local sessions judge under the blasphemy law on 27 April 1998. (Dawn, Lahore, 7 May 1998)"

While some may wrongly believe his suicide violated Catholic morality, I believe Bishop Joseph fulfilled the Biblical injuction that there is "no greater love than to lay down one's life for his friends."

Bishop John Joseph gave his own life in order to shame Pakistan into not taking the life of the innocent Ayub Masih. I hope the Pope moves quickly to beatify Bishop John as Hero-Saint like Maximilian Kolbe and Miguel Pro.

May Bishop John intercede in Heaven for all the persecuted Christians of Pakistan.
