Security experts say it's no surprise that a group linked to Hezbollah cloned the cellphones of Ted Rogers and other high-level Rogers executives.The Iranian-backed radical Shia group based in Lebanon -- regarded by many as even more sophisticated than al-Qaeda -- has sharpened its counterintelligence expertise over the years by keeping a step ahead of Mossad, Israel's secret service. Hezbollah, whose name means Party of God, has become ever more adept at intercepting electronic surveillance, penetrating cellphone networks and recruiting computer science technicians.
"Hezbollah has a long history of underworld wrestling, matching wits with Israeli intelligence agents," said Wesley Wark, an intelligence expert at the University of Toronto. "Hezbollah has become technologically more sophisticated to avoid detection. It's an ironic spinoff of having Western agencies monitor their communications."
Well, they don't have to worry about that anymore.
The category of subjects that should be off-limits to Muslims studying in the West grows ever larger: physics, chemistry, biology, aeronautical engineering, psychology, marketing, mass communication, and many others, including anything to do with computers. While one cannot prevent home-grown computer experts, the fewer the number of trained experts in these fields, the better.
One cannot embargo all of the fruits of Western science. But one can limit the number of those capable of exploiting those fruits. And should.

Back in the days of the Cold War, we had many "Peaceful Exchange Programs" with the Soviet Union. We would send college students over there, and they would send college students over here. In this glorious, peaceful, brotherly exchange, the Soviets studied physics, chemistry, nuclear engineering, and other hard sciences and technologies in the best American universities. Americans got to study Russian literature, cultural anthropology, art history, and, of course, political science.
The American students were observed and always befriended (often by "students" of the opposite sex), in hopes of turning some of them into spies and helpers. If only I could bring myself to believe that we had the courage to recruit some muslim spies . . .

So, to be fair, I propose the Ignoble "Peace" Prize, to be awarded in the following categories:

- person who tells the most convincing argument that Islam is the "Religion of Peace" (tm).

Catherine, glad to see you posting again, I admit my own ability to follow up on stories here has been below my normal levels mostly due to a rather large end of year workload. I posted a while ago about the LDS (mormon) church's missionaries being withdrawn from Venezuela due to difficulty in obtaining and retaining visa's, it seems I was right after all, as the church is training and sending non-North American missionaries there as they have a significantly easier time getting in, not because the country is dangerous. You were spot on about why Chavez is so paranoid about the US (and making it hard for american missionaries to get and maintain access, but we don't run from the devils minions, we simply observe the laws in our respective countries (such as China and the middle east where proselytizing isn't permitted by gov't mandate).

Twas the night before Christmas
He lived all alone
