Taheri: Ahmadinejad faces character assassination

Amir Taheri says that the Thug-In-Chief is getting some heat for his religious visions at the UN. From GulfNews, with thanks to XRDC:

Did the "Hidden Imam" send a flash signal to Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while he was addressing the United Nations last September? Is the new president assisted by an army of djins and angels?

These and similar questions are now all the rage in Tehran. Designed as part of a campaign of character assassination against Ahmadinejad, they do not come from secularists or atheists who do not believe in the "Hidden Imam" or dijns and angels.

The architects of this campaign are mullahs in the Rafsanjani-Khatami faction that Ahmadinejad defeated in last summer's election.

Aimed at portraying the new president as a mentally imbalanced individual suffering from visions and hallucinations, the campaign replaces an earlier one in which Ahmadinejad was presented as a "terrorist and hostage-taker".

The main theme of the campaign is that Iran is now led by a man who believes in "fables like the Hidden Imam" and eschatological and millenarian "superstitions".

"We need a rational approach to politics," says Hashemi Rafsanjani, the businessman-mullah defeated by Ahmadinejad. The implication is that Ahmadinejad, who has asked his ministers to sign pledges to the "Hidden Imam", is acting irrationally.

"We must be guided by logic," adds former president Mohammad Khatami, another mullah and a protégé of Rafsanjani. Again, the implication is that Ahmadinejad is off his rockers.

Taheri goes on to say that the anti-Ahmadinejad mullahs are being hypocritical, and he's right. Read it all.

"the new president as a mentally imbalanced individual suffering from visions and hallucinations..."
-- from the article above

As opposed to Ayatollah Khomeini, with his special cooking tips, and Khalkhali the Hanging Judgea, and a cast, or possibly a caste, of millions of maddened basiji and the Truest of True Believers.

I am convinced we cannot perpetually postpone Islam's war against us -- That there may be no alternative but to accept the fact that Islam is at already at war with us, and that they must be fought on a global scale. If this is inevitable, then we are in for a catastrophic fight with Islam no matter what we do. The question then becomes: now or later? Isn't the election of a case like Ahmadinejad made to order? If our collision with Islam is inevitable, I would far prefer it happens when we are strong and they are still in disarray and figuratively still in the stone age. They are backward. They are divided. They are incompetent. Will these things be true in the future? I doubt that there will ever be a better time to take Islam on wholesale than right now. Yes, we are not prepared. But so far Muslims have vastly overplayed their cards with their world wide Jihad. Did the Saudis actually think that expending 30-60 Billion would be sufficient? Of course not. But as each year ticks by, their numbers increase, their indoctrination becomes more entrenched, tens of thousands are added to the roles and potential roles of minions willing to carry the Jihad higher and further than before. Now with swelling coffers from petrodollars, they are in a position to amplify and consolidate their gains of the last 4 decades. Why allow this to happen?

Let's help this guy in Iran consolidate his power. Let's help him bring about his "hidden Imam". What better pretext to strike at the heart of Shia Islam than a financially precarious maniac with a bomb. This is the case today with Iran. This scenario is far better than a maniac with 1000 bombs, or worse, thermonuclear weapons and a trillion in reserves. This may be the case in 15 years... Why wait? Now seems as good a time as any to accept the gauntlet the Muslims have thrown down.

Question to the board . . . Iran makes no bones about their goal/wish of Israel's destruction. There hell bent on getting the bomb . . . perhaps months away.

What are Israel's options. How bout the Samsom option. I know the Iranian's program is spread out, with parts underground. But with air and a small suicide ground mission, the Israelis can do it. What will be the reprussions towards the US in Iraq? Against England in the south? Suicide strikes or even missle strikes at US forces?? Israel will need the OK from the US to attack for the simple reason that we control the airspace/sea space entrance to Iran. Cheney gave some sort of non ok/ok a year ago when he stated something to the effect that one day Israel may find it has to act alone. Diplomacy is a bust, going nowhere. Now you don't just have the Jihadist threat(BAD ENOUGH), but this guy in Iran seems like a total nutcase. Perhaps this will end our note in Iraq on a sour note, but I can't see Israel waiting much longer. This is the gravest existential threat I can think of. This is a threat(like Osirak) that the entire world would benifit to be without.

While in public, our 'friends' the saudis et al will stridently complain of Israel's 'unilateral' move, privatly they enjoy the bombing. This may, inadvertantly, speed the forces energizing our departure from Iraq and Iraq's eventual disinigration. I also don't think the Kurds will lose any sleep about this as well.

Seems to me, even if Israel promised W not to attack, this nutjob in Iran(Sadam at least had a modicum of logic), with his recent prouncements of wiping israel off the map . . . will lead Israel to the point of no return with missle strikes against the extraction facilities, suicide squads demlishing some of the underground bunkers as well. It won't be pretty, but Israel will get the job done.

"We must be guided by logic," adds former president Mohammad Khatami, another mullah and a protégé of Rafsanjani.

How can anyone know the meaning of the word 'logic' when they themselves approve of beheadings? mass rape of non-muslim female captives? crucifixions? the cutting off of hands and feet?

He experienced a brilliant flash of light?

Isn't that when the drugs took effect?

More likely, he had a vision of what's to come over the Iranian capital, if he keeps this up.

l think the president of iran is just more open and honest of the mullah's his govenment. the more he speaks out against Israel and west, it reveals their hidden agenda. too bad old Europe is still sleeping!
