The British Dhimmi Awards 2005 -- plus some more dhimmiprizes

The Drinking From Home blogspot is accepting nominations for the inaugural British Dhimmi Awards. He already has quite an impressive roster of nominees, including David Farr, who bowdlerized Christopher Marlowe's Tamburlaine the Great so as to avoid offending Muslims; Burger King, for withdrawing its ice cream after a Muslim complained that the artistic representation of the swirl on the package looked like "Allah" in Arabic when held sideways; and the irrepressible George Galloway.

I encourage you to vote over there, but I am also inspired. Nominations are hereby opened for two -- that's right, two -- awards inspired by our British friends. In the Comments field here, please place nominations for the American Dhimmi of the Year 2005, and for the Dhimmi Internationale 2005 winner as well. These should, of course, be those who behaved in the most pusillanimous, abject, and/or suicidally stupid ways in the face of Islamic jihadist bullying and intimidation, peaceful or violent.

Also, please give us some suggestions for a suitable award. And note that employees of Jihad Watch and their relatives are not eligible for these twin dhimmiprizes.

Let the nominations begin!

UPDATE: By popular demand, we will be awarding Anti-dhimmi prizes as well, so please continue to nominate candidates for those (U.S. and international). And as for the Dhimmi prize, I am thinking of sending the winner a copy of Fallaci's seminal The Rage and the Pride. So rather than nominating "France," try to limit your nominations to people who actually have an address (yes, yes, I know, France has an address too: go to Britain and turn right, but only geographically).

Just off the top of my head - Paul Murdoch Architects, the designers of the Flight 93 Memorial, "Crescent of Embrace".

(I nominate them for the American dhimmi list).

Many thanks for the link.

As a suitable award I was thinking of shaming the winner by sending a framed picture of Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

DFH.

Two thoughts came to mind for the American Dhimmi Awards: 1. Condi Rice, she's really tried hard to take the islam out of islamic terroism, and 2. although a long shot, the ACLU, who, while trying to destroy Christianity at every turn, seems to think that the propagation of islamic culture is the new wave of the future type deal.

Caroline suggests,

Just off the top of my head - Paul Murdoch Architects, the designers of the Flight 93 Memorial, "Crescent of Embrace".

I'm sorry to be the one to rain on your parade, but the Crescent of Embrace has been rejected.

Article here:

PITTSBURGH - Designers of a Flight 93 memorial have made a bowl-shaped piece of land its centerpiece, replacing a crescent-shaped design that some critics had said was a symbol honoring terrorists, officials announced Wednesday.

The new design for the memorial, to be built on the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, crash near Shanksville, Pa., features most of the details of the original, which victims' relatives helped select after a worldwide design competition.

But a round, bowl-shaped area would replace a "Crescent of Embrace," a crescent-shaped cluster of maple trees.

After the original design was unveiled in September, Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., criticized it in a letter to the National Park Service director, saying many questioned the shape "because of the crescent's prominent use as a symbol in Islam - and the fact that the hijackers were radical Islamists."

For the International Dhimmi award list,I would strongly recommend : Ace Pakistan Criket player Yousuf Yohanan- who agreed to change his original religion(Christianity)to Islam, justfor the mere greed of becoming a future Captain of Pakistan criket team. Ofcourse,he was under presure from his team-mates and muslims of Pakistan. But he would have been a hero,it he would have clung to his original faith till the last.He not only changed his name to Mohamed Yohanan,he is compelling his christian wife to convert. His mother and father, who are staunch christians disowned him(in spite of being poor, and without support)and this guy rolls in money!.The much persecuted Pakistan Christians are very strong willed ,dedicated to their faith. They will even sacrifice their life for their religion.Yohanan's conversion is a great blow to the community,as he was a rolemodel, and proud posession to the young Pak.Christians.

Eschwapp - then there's this from LGF a few days ago):

Redesigned memorial still an Islamo-fascist shrine

But in any case, if the design has been changed due to public outrage over the design's "dhimmitudeness", then perhaps all the more reason to include it on the list.

DFH: "As a suitable award I was thinking of shaming the winner by sending a framed picture of Ayaan Hirsi Ali."

Along with a copy of the Danish paper, Jyllands-Posten, with its cartoons of Muhammad. That paper gets my anti-dhimmitude award of the year hands down.

As Galloway has been mentioned, I was just reading the Magna Carta for inspiration and in the list of barons after "William, Earl of Warren" (who knew?) and "William, Earl of Arundel" the names continue: "Alan de Galloway, Constable of Scotland; Warin FitzGerald, Peter FitzHerbert, and Hubert de Burgh, Seneschal of Poitou; Hugh de Nevill, Matthew FitzHerbert, Thomas Basset, Alan Basset, Philip of Albiney, Robert de Roppell, John Mareschal, John FitzHugh, and others, our liegemen...." I refuse to believe that George Galloway could be a descendant of "Alan de Galloway." I, on the other hand...

How about Marriott? They deserve at least a "dishonorable mention".

I hereby submit what I actually hope is a premature and unfair nomination. I fear it is neither. I know in my heart it is neither.

Envelope please..........and the nominee is....

STEVEN SPIELBERG! World-renowned filmmaker and director.

Drudge Report: IN ONLY INTERVIEW WORLDWIDE BEFORE 'MUNICH' RELEASE Discusses CONTROVERSIAL New Film to Open Dec. 23. The director tells TIMES he's very proud of the fact that MUNICH doesn't demonize either the Israeli or Palestinian side.

An ultra-wealthy, talented Hollywood Jew chooses to somehow "identify" with the humanity of a bunch of twisted arab killers of innocents (fellow Jews, no less) through their incorporation as protagonists in a multi-million dollar cinematic production destined for worldwide distribution!

What quintissential dhimitude. What pathetic, Stockholm-syndrome madness! What a distortion of historical perspective in the service of pandering and transparent, obsequious submission to terrorism.

Is not Spielberg himself a Jew whose decapitation would be enthusiastically broadcast on Al Jazeera for the entertainment of the cultural and philosophical descendants of those same arab terrorists which he so proudly will not "demonize" in his new film?

Why did he not proclaim, upon the release of his film 'Schindler's List', that he chose not to demonized either the millions of murdered concentration camp victims or the Nazis who exterminated them?

Much of it probably has to do with the fact that Nazis, in their basic, WWII manifestation, do not have quite the cache of Palestinian arabs with similar ambitions within the rarified social circles of Hollywood elites. Also, it is very unlikely that he had serious concern that a disgruntled constituent of Adoph Eichmann, having taken insult at the film, would slip into his home some evening and CUT HIS FAMILY'S HEADS OFF FOR GOD!

He makes a feature film on Jewish Olympic athletes taken hostage by Palestinian arab terrorists in their olympic village dormitory, their subsequent slaughter, and the ensuing pursuit of misguided justice by Israel.

You get his drift when he states in the interview: "I'm always in favor of Israel responding strongly when it's threatened. At the same time, a response to a response doesn't really solve anything. It just creates a perpetual-motion machine," Spielberg says. "There's been a quagmire of blood for blood for many decades in that region. Where does it end? How can it end?".

Most rational human beings might say it ends when acts of arab terrorism are stopped, by whatever means. Not a very tough question to answer for most of us.

He then professes great pride in the fact that his film demonizes neither the murderers or the victims.

His motivation??? His own words: “I don’t think any movie or any book or any work of art can solve the stalemate in the Middle East today,” director Steven Spielberg tells TIME in an exclusive cover-story interview. “But it’s certainly worth a try,” Spielberg says.

He is going to attempt to solve the stalemate in the middle east by producing another great dhimmified Hollywood distortion of the truth and passing it off as history.

It is nice to know that the great Mr. Spielberg claims to not demonize the slaughtered jews of the Munich Olympic games in his forthcoming blockbuster. It is probably very good that he did not attempt to do so because all the ultra-sophisticated CGI cinematic special effects technology in the world would not have been sufficient to allow even him pull that off without making 'Munich' more of a dangerous dhimi farce than it probably already is.

Fortunately civilized humanity does not depend upon Stephen Spielberg to demonize the murderous sub-humans who perpetrated the slaughter. We can do that without his assistance. But why is it that he and so many like him are unwilling to portray the modern evil of arab terrorism for what it is?

What is the fatal seed of self destruction which resides within the breasts of western liberals?
All the torment visited upon western civilization in modern times is, argueably, invited. Invited not by unjust acts of disrespect or aggression against islam which demand muslim redress, but invited by a perverse, self-destructive embrace of cultural and demographic suicide in the service of a bizarre cult of "diversity".

Can these ultra-rich, leftist, liberal, creative geniuses not see the fate to which they condemn their children, if not themselves by their madness? ...ET PHONE HOME!

American Dhimmi: Karen Hughes personifies the American Dhimmi to a tee but Condi Rice should get the runner up prize.

International Dhimmi: I nominate an entire country: France. As idiotic as Galloway and Livingstone are, they can't hold a candle to France. France's dhimmi mentality is similar to Robert Fisk's. They accept their subjugation and they are willing to pay jizya in order to stop the riots. You can't get more dhimmified than that.

How about a prize for anti-Dhimmis?

I nominate the PM of Denmark (Anders Fogh Rasmussen) for that award for valuing freedom of speech over multiculti.

I'm afraid I can't nominate anyone in America as an anti-dhimmi. Well, nobody that has enough political sway. Tancredo comes close but he's still considered "fringe".

"creative geniuses..."
-- from a posting above

Stephen Spielberg the showman and coney-barker? That's a "creative genius"?

Hugh

Point well take!!

British MP George Galloway by a landslide in the international catagory...

Domestic contenders must include FBI Director Muller for exposing the identities of US federal agents to CAIR in order that they might receive 'cultural sensitivity training.'

igor: "Tancredo comes close but he's still considered "fringe"."

Whether he's "fringe" or not I totally agree. Tancredo belongs firmly on the anti-dhimmi list for daring to publicly propose bombing Mecca in the interest of providing a plausible MAD target in the current war against global Islamic jihad.

Mr. Spencer - the comments so far suggest that you might also consider an anti-dhimmi category for these awards...

I second the nomination for Karen Hughes: http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/008285.php

Also:

Tom Friedman:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/005438.php

John Esposito:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/003808.php

But my top nomination?

Morgan Spurlock, the creator of Super Size Me, for the painfully superficial CAIR-designed propaganda piece from his "30 Days" series:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/006776.php
http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/006231.php

American dhimmis, didya say? Hollyweird's choking full of them, seems like. The civilizational traitors who changed the basic plotline of the movie 'sum of all fears' to replace the original islamic villians in the book with neo-nazis of all people. 'Flightplan' is another dhimmi contraption designed to show suspicion of arabs on flights is plain unnatural. Not to mention, the dorks potray the flight crew as bent upon hijacking the plane, this after what happened on flight 93?!
And why the h*ll did we not have a single movie about the 9/11 story so far? or of flight 93?
Hollywood takes the US dhimmi award by a mile, methinks.
Second choice:- that presbyterian preacher who met with Hamas!
Int'l dhimmi? My choice for the nomination is Jacques Chirac.

iqor says" I'm afraid I cant nominate anyone in America as an Anti-Dhimmi" Iqor has 'ignored' the most deserving candidates-(1) Robert Spencer- He stands first in the list.I need not explain why he deserves it. BUT..Did he say Jihad watch, and Dhimmi watch group are exempt? How sad!(2) Dr.Ali Sina= a chamipion for exposing the evils of Islam, with an inside knowlede, since he is an ex-islamist. He is under constant threat to his life.

Prize could be a beautifully embroidered yellow patch, perfect for sewing on to his or her favorite shirt or jacket.

Could be a Star of David or a cross, as appropriate...

Galloway is not a dhimmi; he is Borg. Though he may not have formally "reverted" to Islam with the declaration of shahada, he is -- by virtue of his complete submission to, advocacy for, and rationalisation of Islamic conquest -- a bona fide Muslim.

Livingstoned is still doing a convincing impression of a radical left-wing multi-culturalist, though one that is almost certainly on the take and therefore not a true dhimmi. Blair is a politician in eternal search of votes; thus, he achieves self-aggrandisement with his appeasement of the Muslim community and fails the dhimmi test.

No, to be a dhimmi, one must truly fear for one's safety and security and consequently cower under the threat of Muslim reprisal. My vote for British dhimmi goes to the BBC which demonstrated consummate hypocrisy by dropping its dramatisation of John Buchan’s Greenmantle while telling Christians to piss off over their objections to the airing of Jerry Springer.

The possibility that the 3 billion pound welfare queen might lose its annual stipend due to shrieks of "Islamophobia" must surely send shivers down the spine of many a BBC executive.

Anyone with any authority working in any news department in all forms of media everywhere in the world

Ridley Scott for another dishonorable mention for his historical revision (see Islamic version) of the Crusades in "Kingdom of Heaven".

Any one of the common, ordinary Americans I encounter who dismiss any criticism of Islam with parrot-speak of the PC party line.

I second the Crescent of Embrace nomination. All of the features that made the original Crescent memorial an Islamo-fascist shrine are still in place in the redesign. The two points that defined the tips of the huge Mecca-oriented red-maple crescent are both still in the memorial, exactly as before. (One is the last red maple at the bottom of the crescent. One is the end of the inner concrete wall, on the circle that the crescent partly inscribes, at the top.) All the "redesign" does is fill in a few more trees beyond the concrete wall, in effect blending the crescent into the surrounding trees, but leaving its defining points, and its orientation to Mecca, completely intact.

Numerous other Islamic and Islamo-fascist features are alto retained. The Tower of Voices is still an Islamic prayer-time sundial, etcetera. Click on my link to see my full analysis.

After my post caused a bit of a blogstorm last week the publicist for the Memorial Foundation called me. He says he is willing to let me walk him through my analyses of what I and others have found in Murdoch's design, but it is obvious that his objective is to allay concern.

I was surprised that the orientation on Mecca was still intact. Did they not even know how this orientation was defined? So I asked the publicist if anyone involved in the project ever investigated the orientation on Mecca. "Well," he answered, "everything points somewhere."

I'm going to see if I can get him to put me in touch with the directors of the project, Joanne Hanley and John Reynolds, to see if they are as dismissive of one of the main concerns that forced the redesign. I think the answer has to be yes, or they would not have allowed the original red maple crescent simply to be blended in with a few more trees.

This would constitute a colossal failure of due diligence. The information that prompted the redesign is considered beneath investigation, allowing the hijacking to proceed? Do they have any idea how ironic that is? What a betrayal of what they are memorializing?

Which raises the strongest reason for giving the Crescent-of-Embrace/Bowl-of-Embrace a dhimmitude award. We have to stop this. It is even more perverse than the attempt to place an America-apologizes-for-oppression museum at the WTC’s ground-zero. Look at the details of what architect Paul Murdoch did. Multiple orientations on Mecca. 44 translucent blocks on the flight path to death, not just the forty inscribed with the names of the murdered. An upper section of memorial wall, placed EXACTLY in the position of the star on an Islamic flag (and containing three of the extra translucent blocks).

You don't even want to know where the 44th block is: the punch line of the whole stinking Islamo-fascist shrine. It will make you sick. But look anyway. Look this evil in the face, and know that this is one of the battles that we are called upon to win here on the home-front, while our magnificent soldiers take the fight to the enemy abroad.

After I get what information I can from the Park Foundation, I will put up a new post on my site. I will also figure out at that point how best to best formulate a petition and letter writing campaign. (A.M. Siriano already has a letter and a mailing script up on his site for anyone wants to fire off a volley now.) And of course, Robert and Hugh like comments, so feel free to third this nomination.

Ken Livingstone seems to be doing his best to get himself a nomination. See http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1904949,00.html.

"Muslim peace rally attracts thousands
By Joanna Bale
MORE than 20,000 British Muslims gathered yesterday at a conference in London, the largest meeting of its kind to be held in Europe.

Ken Livingstone, Michael Mansfield, QC, and the former Pakistan cricketers Saeed Anwar and Imran Khan were among the speakers promoting “global peace and unity”."

On the other hand, it doesn't look as if any non-muslims attended which is slightly encouraging.

This very revealing article was plucked off the BBC online UK pages rather quickly and deserves a post here for posterity.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4496580.stm

It seems Sir Iqbal Sacrani of the Muslim Council of Britain does not like proposals afoot to close mosques where 'radicalism' is preached. He says it 'criminalizes' the whole Muslim community.

And then he issues a threat: do this and it will be considered an "attack against the religion". Hence, it is the single most dangerous piece of legislation around.

But, of course, Islam is compatible with loyalty to Great Britain, he claims, even though the British government cannot close a mosque without "attacking the religion" and risking a violent counter-attack; as if closing a mosque were in some way morally equivalent to blowing up the tube. Yep, sounds like Western, democratic values to me.

I just thought of another one, one that is deserving of every award for stupidity and ignorance that is out there. David "I'm so white you can see me in the dark" friggin Duke. He needs hit over the head with a very large and heavy object. I can't believe I didn't think of him. He thinks this nation is his and his white supremacists land. He hates everyone not white, with the notable exception of Jews, yet for some reason he applauds the efforts of islamists. Doesn't he know that they will just as readily enslave him and his kind, or kill them as well? He's just another Westerner in the book of the islamists. Maybe we should send him to live in some muslim desert hole in the middle east, after a short while, he'll be singing a differnt tune, begging to come back to the States. He deserves at least, if not the Dhimmi Award, a good slap in the head.

Prince Charles

My candidates for anti-dhimmitude in the UK are two clergymen of my church. This gives me an opportunity to share this experience with you as it was very heartening.
Earlier this year one of our groups invited an Imam to our church to speak on Islam, an open meeting, which I attended.
The Imam opened with his version of a Brief History of Islam in Britain which was a direct crib from a particular TV programme. So far, so not very impressive. Then he explained how all Muslims emulate Mohammed in all things, even down to the preferred method of trimming the finger nails.
Question time began and an elderly man asked why Muslims hate the Jews so. The Imam denied that they were hated, but held that the behaviour of Israel was responsible for “everything”. The elderly man disputed something the Imam said about Israel in 1948 as wrong and the Imam was obviously not used to being contradicted and had no respect for this mans knowledge of events he had himself lived through.

I spoke, asking the Imam whether the animosity towards the Jews was not as a result of the emulation of Mohamed, who hated Jews and killed many personally. He was not pleased and asked me what I had been reading. An on-line Qu’ran, I replied, with Hadith. No, no, he said, this is rubbish.
What about the about the massacre of the 600 Jews of the Bani Quarani. I asked?
He went into a heated description of the war at that time, and how the deaths were justified.
I asked about Asma Bint Marwen. He pretended he could not understand what I said. When he explained that she was the poetess who offended Mohammed so that he ordered her murder he said there was no such person, no such event, and no such hadith. There is a lot of rubbish on the internet and I had been reading lies put about by medieval Christian scholars which were still being repeated.
I am an Imam and I tell you that there is no such hadith!!!!

At which point our vicar stood up with his own well studied translation of the Qu’ran and read out Sura 9. “This book is so full of violence”, he said, “how do you deal with it?”

The Imam said, “What translation have you got there? Ah, that one, (the Penguin) that’s not a good one. The Qu’ran is very difficult to translate…. Blah blah… original Arabic… blah blah, Have to be very careful etc etc.”

I broke in to make the point that the on-line translation of the Qu’ran etc I use is on the website of an Islamic publishing house whose credentials are that they have a bookstall in the Regent’s Park Mosque. His reaction was that these misinterpretations in translation were all a Saudi plot, and were it not for the Holy City he would spit on them. I didn’t get a chance to ask what the Saudis had to gain from this, or what his opinion on the doctrine of taqyyia was when he turned to the next question.

He then told one woman that the reward of 72 virgins in paradise for suicide bombers was also a mistranslation and misinterpretation, and told a clergywoman from another church (who asked what chance in the future for women clergy in Islam and their role generally) that women had different but not unequal roles. I don’t think it was an argument unfamiliar to her, or an argument that carried much weight with her.

A junior clergyman spoke to him. I dare not tell you this mans background as it might identify him, but by training and heritage he is well equipped for this task. Suffice to say, that in the most brotherly and Christian manner, he did not allow the Imam to get away with any more.

We broke for coffee and while I was talking to one minister I looked round to see where the Imam was. He had apparently slipped outside, to his car, to make a phone call, to have a crafty cigarette perhaps, or maybe to get the “better” books we had been promised.
Anyway, he didn’t come back.

There are more speakers about Islam arranged in the New Year within our wider region and I have been asked to attend the next.

American Anti-dhimmi: Michael Graham, hands down.
International - Louise Frevert, Martin Henriksen, and the entire Danish People's Party... for pretty much the same reason.

Jyllands-Posten, hands down.

And all the Danes, while we're at it.

Of course Prince Charles!

"Defender of the Faiths"- "Islam is misunderstood..."

"The Guardian" and all who write for it, especially Madeleine Bunting.

A word in defence of David Farr. He didn't "bowdlerise" Tamburlaine through dhimmitude, as he explains quite convincingly in a Guardian article. There are many more uniquivocal examples to choose from - the Burger King fiasco being my favourite one.

Also, Christians aren't exactly blame free. The department stores Sainsbury and Woolworths have removed Jerry Springer: The Opera from their shelves because of pressure from Christian jihadists. Had it been a Muslim group, the story would have been all over the tabloids.

Dhimmitude in the face of any religion is deplorable, imo.

My nomination for International anti-dhimmitude has to by Jylands-Posten. And a suggestion for the dhimmitude prize: a copy of the classic Rasmus Sand Høyer cartoon from the Jylands-Posten series (the one with a sword wielding Muhammed with eyes blacked out).

The BBC. Who should know better. They take our licence fee under false pretences.

Rose, I just wanted to congratulate you! It's probably like this, with close encounter and debate amongst "common people", that we can get to somthing... We musn't count on the MSM & the political leaders, for most of them!

As for dhimmitude, a nice example occured in "La libre Belgique" last week, one of the main belgian french-speaking newspapers.

There's been quite a few articles about the "belgian kamikaze" lately, most of them not very enlightened, but the worst I read was part of this one http://www.lalibre.be/article.phtml?id=10&subid=90&art_id=254621.

For you non french-speaking guys, let's just say that it speaks about converts to islam in Belgium. And the paragraph that made me jump in my chair is

"l'islam interpelle parce que depuis toujours, c'est une religion de dominés alors que le christianisme a toujours été synonyme de colonisation. Il semble dès lors naturel que les damnés de la terre, que les exclus se rangent à ses côtés. Mais ce serait une erreur fatale de s'arrêter à cette vision qui pour des esprits faibles devient rapidement synonyme de «choc des civilisations». Le message fondamental de l'islam est pacifique et tolérant."

Wich can be translated as (quick translation, not perfect!):

"Islam appeals because it is since always a religion of the downtrodden whereas Christianity was always synonymous with colonization. It seems consequently natural that the wretched of the Earth, the excluded people line up at its sides. But it would be a fatal error limit ourselves tothis vision which for weak spirits quickly becomes synonymous with “shock of civilizations”. The fundamental message of Islam is peaceful and tolerant."

So... Christianity, "always colonization"; Islam, "always faith of the downtrodden"; and islamic fundamental message is, of course, "peace and tolerance"... How worse can it get?

I spent (and probably wasted) three hours yesterday writing to the editor of the newspaper, refuting this propaganda. 'Talking a bit about islamic colonization too... I just can't bear this b.s. anymore!

Before you vote for the BBC, don't forget it also gave us the excellent Panorama documentary A Question of Leadership, which exposed the Muslim Council of Britain's extremist connections and so infuriated them that they complained to Ofcom.

Panorama editor Mike Robinson did not take the MCB criticism lying down, and issued a robust response.

As for an international Anti-dhimmi nominate, I would vote for Ayaan Hirsi Ali - this year, she was able to deliver interviews & speach in quite a few european countries (Netherlands of course, France, UK, Germany,... perhaps others!), some of her books were even translated in French - and the least you can say is that she's not PC!

MWW this is indeed true. There is always hope for a dhimmi who may be second class but retains his/her true beliefs.

Which is why I would define Gruesome Georgie Galloway not as a dhimmi but as a fully paid up, card carrying member of the dark side.

I am looking forward to reading Ayaan Hirsi Ali's book The Caged Virgin: An Emancipation Proclamation for Women and Islam
in English next year.

Available for pre-order now.

Mmw - Christian jihadists? Pull the other one.

Christian Voice are not very pleasant, but they are not "jihadists".

And dhimmitude is specifically Islamic - no other religion, if you can call Islam a religion, mandates dhimmi status as an alternative to death for unbelievers.

Sorry, that should be mww, not mmw. Mmw is the noise you make when you kiss someone you barely know or llke. I'm not sure what mww is.

islamic colonization
For which the cure is a near anagram - colonic irrigation?

That's the one.

Granny, sorry for the probably stupid question on your pun (my excuse: not being a native englishspeaker). But is the cure you propose a "purge" ?

There should also be a prize (the Madeleine Bunting Demented Loon Award perhaps? - see Interested's other posts on Bunting) for the western woman most eager to don the burka and follow the bouncing ball into submission.

Yes Pistache, you have got the idea most excellently. It is a very expensive treatment, given by certain "health" clinics and beloved of the beautiful people with more money than sense.
In case of genuine anguish I find a bowl of stewed prunes perfectly adequate.
And please don't apologise, I only read a little French and would have struggled with your passage above, had you not taken the trouble to translate it.

would have struggled with your passage ...

Ho ho ho!

The Madeleine Bunting demented loon award would go to Yvonne Ridley, closely followed by that dozy bint who also writes for The Guardian and who said polygamy was liberating.

Talking of crap, I believe Prince Charles is a great believer in coffee enemas. Keep your friends close and your enemas closer.

British dhimmi award? It has to be bishop Rowan Williams. The worst bishop britain has had in history. He may as well be an aetheist. Thank god I'm not anglican

Rose, I have just read your post and find it very uplifting see that you have a couple of very astute priests in your parish.

In Paris last week, there was a meeting held at St Léon, a church in the wealthy 15th arrondissment. The meeting was an interfaith 'dialogue' between an Islamic professor Hamdi Ennaifer, a certain dhimmi catholic Msgr Michael Fitzgerald, (no relation I trust) and the Grand Rabbi Guedj.

These three have spent their lives at interfaith symposiums around the (mostly muslim) world and seem to hold each others religions in very high esteem.

I have written a review, (In french) of how the meeting went http://www.france-echos.com/actualite.php?cle=7721 and did get to ask one question. "Mr Ennafer, how can you moderate a religion founded by war lord who preached endless war against infidels?"

All I can say in summary, is that your meeting went rather better. The islamic professor was defended most diligently by Msgr Michael Fitzgerald, who worryingly enough sits on the vatican panel for interfaith dialogue.

If any French speaker happens to be in Paris on the 4th of january, it would be useful for you to come to the next meeting held in this church intitled 'Invitation to Islam'.

Link here: http://www.paroisse-st-leon.net/zannexes/dialogue-interreligieux.htm

Oh Interested, I didn't see that one.
Mea culpa, mea culpa.

Pistache and Sebastien
If, in months to come, there are other lectures or meetings of interest then I will report back here in due course, within a suitable thread.
Thank you for your interest.

Rose--

That is a very useful posting: a kind of summary of all the tricks, wiles, and lies that go into Muslim apologetics. There is a limited repertoire, after all -- the "mistranslation" gambit, the outright denial ("Asma bint Marwan" -- never heard of her), the promise of good things to come (those female clerics), and so on. Go to every meeting you can, armed with the truth. And the more you can alert and educate others, including willing Anglican clerics, the better.

A small card with a few websites: www.jihadwatch.org, www.dhimmitude.org, www.faithfreedom.org, www.answering-islam.org, could be distributed hither and yon. No sense in giving up England, all of England, to the likes of that imam, and what he represents. Not at least without the kind of intelligent fight you are putting up -- and the Bishops, and Parliament, and the press, aren't.

I just put up a post on why the Crescent/Bowl-of-Embrace should win the American dhimmi award.

Recap of my analysis of the terrorist memorial shrine, plus a bonus.

From my conversation with the Memorial Project's publicity manager on Thursday:

"Did anyone on the project check out the orientation to Mecca?" I asked him. "Well, everything faces somewhere" he answered.

At my link.

How about a Lifetime Achievement Award, to go to Oriana Fallaci?

International Dhimmi:
Tony Blair, for supporting religious hatred bill, which only serves to protect Islam from criticism.

(Runner-up: Chirac, who even paid the jizya to the Iraqi-insurgent and Palestinian terrorist-inspired rioters).

American dhimmi: Karen Hughes.

...although a long shot, the ACLU, who, while trying to destroy Christianity at every turn, seems to think that the propagation of islamic culture is the new wave of the future type deal.

Pastor Matt, like most preachers, is a damn liar.

Keep lying, Matt. The way current trends are going, in thirty or forty years, there won't be ANY Christians left in America. That's why I left.

For which the cure is a near anagram - colonic irrigation?

No, you're thinking about colonic Islamization, what little boys get when Muslim jihadis capture them.

pissedache:[Ayaan Hirsi Ali...] the least you can say is that she's not PC!

Too bad that's not true. I bet that she most certainly IS PC when it comes to homosexual rights, womens right, environmentalism.

Why is it that certain people feel compelled to whine about PC-ness, multiculturalism, diversity, etc. when the ONLY bad thing about any of these is the acceptance of Islam? Why not just complain about Islam?

And SINCE Ms. Ali is a supporter of womens rights, homosexaul rights, protecting the environment, etc. one could also say that the least you can say about is that she's not Right-wing!

American Dhimmi - Condoleeza Rice
International Dhimmi - Tony Blair

I vote for Condi for her complete ignorance of Islam and her defense of the Qur'an as a 'holy book'.

I vote for Tony Blair because he is actively trying to pass a law to ban criticism of Islam.

John Sobieski

I would like to put forward a few names for French Anti Dhimmitude.

1) Alain Finkielkraut, philospher, writer and journalist currently being savaged by Le Monde, anti-racist organisations and others for writing the truth about the French riots

http://remotefarm.techcentralstation.com/1202055.html

2) Louis Chagnon, School teacher, dismissed because he taught pupils that Mohmammed was a brigand and a thief. (He won his subsequent trial)

3) Jean Raspail, French author facing huge problems because of this article http://www.occidentalis.com/article.php?sid=2119

4) The Webmaster of www.musulmanesonline.com for having a € 17 000 fine for creating a website satirizing Islam.

5) Philippe de Villiers, politician and leader of the Mouvement Pour la France, who never misses a chance to criticise the islamisation of France.

Although they aren't quite up there with Ken, Madeleine and barking Yvonne, Brit dhimmis Cherie Blair and Jenny Tonge should get dishonourable mentions.

For international Dhimmi Award and most irritating: The Israeli Magen David Adom (Israeli version of Red Cross) for selling their souls and replacing the Star of David with some new age crystal!

Sebastien,

Do you have a link to the original French version of the interview with Alain Finkielkraut?

Dr. Pepper,

Here's what you ask for (plus other links).

Pistache

Here in the UK, I nominate Jack Straw for believing that negotiating with terrorists will save us. And for his condemnation of Israel at every twist and turn, while he's been busy talking to Hamas.

And Red Ken Livingstone for telling everyone that they're wrong in thinking Islam incites violence, but a handful of extremists are at fault. He's been taking lessons from his 'peaceful' friend Qaradawi.

Then there's Prince Charles who thinks we should all be more tolerant of Islam.

To kj

I suppose we both have different definition of PCness... for me, twisting and/or hiding facts and truths because they could "offense" some people is PCness. And in that respect, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is not PC - not from what I read from her.

You might also be surprised to learn that I support "womens rights, homosexual rights, protecting the environment, etc.", at least when it doesn't amount to blind ideology, and still consider myself "right wing". By the way, as far as I know, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is now member of a "Right-wing" (?) party, after leaving the Left. But I do not want to go furter into politics here (one country's "Left" being easily closer to another country's "Right"!)...

PS: was "pissedache" an attemps at being funny or just a mistake?

kj is only keeping giaour's arguments alive, Pistache. I guess someone has to do it.

I can't believe no one has nominated SuperDhimmi Karen Armstrong for the Brit or International Dhimmi awards. But then maybe she's a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer and should have her candidacy retired.

Mmw - Christian jihadists? Pull the other one.

Christian Voice are not very pleasant, but they are not "jihadists".

They are engaged in what they regard as a holy struggle to promote their religion and impose their values on a largely unwilling society.

They may not be violent jihadists (although their posting of the home addresses of several BBC producers on the CV website did lead to death threats for those producers). But the label fits them very well, imo.

Hi, new here, though I've been reading this site for awhile. No candidates for the Dhimmi of the Year award, as anyone I'd favor has been listed.

However, I am just wondering why it's not the "Dhimmiwit" award instead?

Lambeth Council for their "winterval" silliness and other councils for banning pigs.

International Dhimmi: Prince Charles
American Dhimmi: Michael Dell or Dell Co.

Karen Armstrong - I'd forgotten about her. What a dhimmi dhummi she is. Second to nun.

Mww:

Fine by me. Let them "struggle" in what they see as a "holy" way to impose their values on a society which, being unwilling, will not accept them. Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war. But not really to war, that's the whole point.

This is not like blowing yourself up on the tube, is it?

And they didn't get their own way when they tried to stop the Beeb broadcasting Jerry Springer the Opera, which is brilliant and funny and should be seen by everyone.

Vee~ in order for it to be Dhimmiwit... there has to be Wit.

Pistache,

I would like to point out that the French translation of the Finkielkraut article is is considered 'slapdash' by Nidra Poller in this article here http://remotefarm.techcentralstation.com/1202055.html

I don't know unfortunately where you can find another translation.

Best Rgds

Sebastien

Not so much dhimmi of the year, but I think the career of Colin Powell qualifies him for a Lifetime Dhimmi Award.

And of course there's Dhimmi Carter.

Cornelius:

I don't consider Galloway to be a dhimmi. He's clearly playing for the other side - a quisling would be a better description of him.

I concur with those who named Condi Rice as the American Dhimmi of the Year. In the runner-up category for Britain, I nominate the law enforcement official who urged police in his district to wear green ribbons on their uniforms as a show of solidarity with Muslims, AFTER the London bombings.

anti dhimmi nomination to briget bardot.

funny she's french, but she has shown more backbone against islam than the rest of the country combined. she keeps going to jail for her dununciation of muslims.

Sebastien,

Thanks for pointing to Nidra Poller's paper on the subject, but the translation she talks about is the first one, by M. Sibony & M. Warshavski, presented on UJFP - Not the UPJF one for which I gave the link, which is a later one, by Menahem Macina.

While I can understand the hatred towards the ACLU, might I suggest that it might just be misplaced.

I am very aware that the ACLU has worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center, in fighting racism and antisemitism. And in fact a large portion of the lawyers, officers and volunteers of the ACLU are Jewish.

A fact which has gained them the hatred of the racists/antisemites. One example from the vile rabidly antisemitic Atzlan

I won't even post an excerpt it is so vile.

From the SPLC's Website

Innovative trial strategies to shut down white supremacist organizations and combat injustice are part of the Center's ongoing legacy. Notorious hate groups, such as the Aryan Nations, have been toppled by remarkable monetary damages won by the Center. The American Bar Association, the ACLU, Common Cause, and the National Bar Association are just a sample of the organizations that have lauded the Center's legal efforts.

The big reason I, the liberal, get so rankled when I hear and see "conservatives" diss the ACLU, is because the ACLU is one of the prime bete noire's of the fascists: the racists, NAZI's, and KKK.

Those are roommates that I don't want.

and Here is just one example from one hate site Notice that the Website defends William Pierce and calls Morris Dees a scumbag.

Do you haters of the ACLU agree with these racist NAZI's?

Excerpt from the above site.

Is the implication here that if you write a book the SPLC does not approve of they will sue you? Chilling thought. It is interesting to note that the Turner Diaries sells substantially better than Morris Dees's book at amazon.com (8165 vs. 54,283 Sales Rank on 4-Dec-98) I wonder what the ACLU would have to say about this. "Natural Born Killers" made me do it!

The ACLU is as it's name says American Civil Liberties Union, and it's charter is to protect the Constitutional Rights of Americans, if at times it must hold it's nose and defend a skunk, it would lose it's non exempt status and it's raison d'etre if it started sifting and sorting.

We haven't yet begun to see what the ACLU will do in regards to situations dealing with islam, nariz. Only a very little bit so far (beyond the fact they won't even acknowledge that certain groups are terrorist!). And believe me, there will be plenty coming. In the schools, in public businesses...

I will also add: they defended the KKK before they were against them (a little bit of licence there, sorry!)

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/11/28/183720.php

I think you don't know much about what the ACLU is up to nowadays Nariz.

Maybe you should investigate further.

And no, no one hates them because they are "enemies" of racism. We hate them because they defend terrorists and because they are massive hypocrites who work relentlessly to chase all aspects of Judeo-Christianity out of our culture (which helps Islam tremendously) while ignoring and even aiding Islam's encroach on our schools, our public spaces, etc.

Ask Mr. Spencer about the recent case with the blatant teaching of Islam and Islamic prayers in the Byron, California public schools -- did the ACLU show up to protest this blatant disregard for separation of church and state? No, it did not.

If the Byron public schools had taught kids to say Christian prayers, rest assured the ACLU would have shown up so fast they would have broken a a couple of legs.

The ACLU hypocrites are disgusting. They were once a decent cause, but that was a long time ago. Now they are helping Islam establish itself in the US left, right and center.

Nariz,

There is a difference between 'vile' and 'dumb as a bowl of mice'. Aztlan falls into that second category. I am still laughing at his assertion that the ACLU is controlled by Jews. And the CAlifornia legislature, L.A. city council, all in addition, of course, to the media and international banks? Being Jewish, I guess I won't be moving to California any time soon- it would be too exhausting!

Governor Mitt Romney. He is the only potential 2008 Presidential candidate I have heard speak intelligently about the Jihadi threat and necessary measures to counter it (e.g., wiretapping of Wahabbi controlled mosques, surveillance of foreign students from countries in which Jihadi terrorists originate). It takes courage to take such politicaly incorrect positions, particularly in a state as liberal as Massachusetts.

I only read today about British Burger King's "Allah-Swirl" fiasco. Something so ridiculous should have made the news here.

I nominate Charles Johnson of LGF for the 2005 American Anti-Dhimmi award. Him and Pipes and the Robert and Hugh are the steadiest warriors in the daily information sphere, so he has to at least be a finalist.
