A press release from the United American Committee:
The United American Committee is currently organizing a National Rally Against Islamofascism Day to be held at venues all over the United States next Feb. 1st, 2006.Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2005 -- The event, described
on the UAC’s website at http://www.unitedamericancommittee.org has
already scheduled 13 locations nationwide where rallies will be held.
Many more locations across the USA are expected to be added as the
scheduled date approaches. The main rally will be held at Ground Zero at the former location of
the World Trade Center in New York. Other states scheduled to
participate with rallies include Washington, D.C., Virginia, Texas,
Missouri and Arkansas with more signing up each day.“We figured Ground Zero was the main rallying point, but this is an
event for all who support America regardless of their faith, be it
Christian, Jewish, Muslim or any other. All are welcome to
participate,” said UAC leader Jesse Petrilla. The rally is to solidify and support understanding in the
United States of the hard work done by American law enforcement
agents in the Border Patrol, the Coast Guard, FBI, local police and
all other government agencies who work to protect all Americans
from potential terrorist attacks being planned by the Islamofascist
movement and to encourage people to make their jobs easier. One goal of the rally is to get all Americans to take the initiative
to report all suspicious activities to the police and FBI that might
out groups from within the United States who are working to aid
terrorists overseas or who might be trying to engage in terrorism
here in America. This includes working to prevent illegal
immigration and preventing funding for overseas groups that may
ultimately go to helping terrorist movements.Another goal is unconditional support of all American troops
overseas and at home regardless of one’s opinion about the War in
Iraq. The Rally will also express total appreciation for the job
done by our men and women in uniform and to find ways to show that
appreciation.“Muslim groups are especially welcome to join us and show their
support for America,” Petrilla emphasized. “The purpose of this
rally is to unify all Americans behind a common goal and against an
enemy that is seeking to destroy values we all hold dearly. He
continued, “This is not a rally to promote hate, but a rally to
promote peace and tolerance and make clear what America stands for.
Republicans, Democrats, Pacifists, all ethnicities are urged to
march on the day of the event and show their true support for the
United States of America.”The UAC’s position is that America is still under threats by
Islamofascists and needs to show a unified front against such an
enemy. While some other groups are marching in American cities
accusing the Untied States of being an oppressor or supporting
movements that fight and kill American soldiers, the United American
Committee feels that its time the majority of Americans who feel
strongly about showing a strong face against Islamofascism has come. The rally will alert Americans to the threats we all face that we
need to recognize and that accusations of bias by certain groups in
the US that secretly work to aid terrorist groups from overseas are
unfounded. The main rally held at hallowed ground at the
World Trade Center will remind Americans to pull together and be
vigilant and work as a team to overcome and defeat those who would
destroy America and what it stands for -- freedom. Those interested in staging a local rally in their area or for
information about rallying points already scheduled can find
information by contacting the appropriate organizers on the UAC website.# # #

I hate to say it, but this just Begs to be mis-reported by the MSM. They will focus on any and All fringe elements that show up for these rallies.
But I can hope these rallies go ahead, and wake up some more of the public.
It's about time.
The mainstreammedia can kiss our butt. Its a good time to participate with people who recognize the threat to our way of life.
Do you think "pull out" Pelosi will show up ? What about "Not his brother" Kennedy or "My fellow military are bad people" Kerrey ?
If you're not a hate America self hater, good time to show up.
In his last couple of speeches, Bush has -- belatedly, begrudgingly -- begun to name the enemy. But what a bizarre war this is! 4 years after 9/11 and it is still largely up to the people to inform and educate themselves about the nature of the enemy and its objectives. And we must do this in a climate of lethal political correctness where the media have perfected the art of doublespeak and self-censorship.
50 years from now, when our grandchildren reflect on the era of the "Islamofascism Wars", they will be astonished that it took so long for Western civilization to awaken to the danger and mobilize against it.
Can not wait for this rally next year! Is anyone here affilitated with United American Committee?
I had not heard of them until today. The website recommends "Onward Muslim Soldiers" by Robert Spencer on its suggested reading list. Definitely a good sign!
A very encouraging step. My hat's off to the UAC.
I will add that Bush's explicit use of the term "Islamofacism" (and others like it), in hindsight, may help the UAC's choice of words now.
Cited on JihadWatch, October 14, 2005,
Bush said that the terrorists’ attacks "...serve a clear and focused ideology, a set of beliefs and goals that are evil, but not insane. Some call this evil Islamic radicalism; others, militant Jihadism; still others, Islamo-fascism."
Thanks to Robert for posting this press release. I am the coordinator for the UAC in TN, and we are a growing grassroots group of concerned U.S. citizens who recognize the islamofascist threat and are dedicated to help in educating and awakening our fellow citizens. Anyone can join by going to the website and register(no charge). We also have a website forum for topic discussions related to the islamofascist threat. Our members are totally supportive of the great work being done by Robert and Hugh and all others who work to support jihadwatch and dhimmiwatch.
Bush did not use the term "Islamofascism" in propria persona. He said "some use the term...." and that term is a weasel-term, favored by the likes of Christopher -- qui fait son petit Orwell -- Hitchens, a great believer in the Infidel Man's Burden.
In his hallucinatory speech a few days ago, Bush did not in all his seemingly detailed fake-forthrightness, use the word "Islam" once. Not even once. There was a single occurrence of the word "Islamic." That's it.
Be very sceptical! I can't for the life of me figure out why I would think that the UAC would have ulterior motives. Could it be that in the end, they still want a world wide Caliphate with all humanity living under Sharia law! DON'T trust them!
"Some call this evil Islamic radicalism; others, militant Jihadism; still others, Islamo-fascism."
The "some" and "others" Bush was referring to were his speechwriters.
[ducks]
I know what this is going to sound like, but I won't attend any event that welcomes Muslims.
Here is where my head is at: Imagine it's 1942. You're walking down the isles of your local A&P, when you see a man, in full Nazi SS uniform, looking for a just-right ripe Cantaloupe. Well, that's exactly how I feel every time I see a woman in a Burka or a Hijab in the U.S. Unlike most of my uninformed (or willfully disbelieving) blue-state neighbors, I KNOW what her beliefs are. I KNOW what she hopes for the future. I KNOW what her game plan is.
I don't care if Muslims attends this rally. If they are faithful, normative Muslims, the only peace they seek is the peace of dar el-Islam. The only U.S. troops and first-responders they support are those who will someday accept the prophet and defend the Islamic Republic of America from infidels. I know they mean no harm by their beliefs, but we are reminded that normative Islam is NOT compatible with a Western Democracy.
I will attend a rally when it invites Americans who support the continued existance of a United States under U.S. Constitutional law, not Shari'a law!
One goal of the rally is to get all Americans to take the initiative
to report all suspicious activities to the police and FBI that might
out groups from within the United States who are working to aid
terrorists overseas or who might be trying to engage in terrorism
here in America
Recently Abdul Salem, a drug syndicate leader was detained in Portugal and now brought back to India. He was part of the group headed by Dawood Ibrahim, a protege of ISI of Pakistan who was also funding Osama Bin Laden.
Abdul Salem owns about $700 million worth of property in NJ, USA, according to a report. It is quiet possible that Dawood also owns Billions of Dollars worth of properties in the US.
These are the things the American citizens should be informing FBI so that the money is siezed and the money power of the Islamic terrorists is reduced.
who is the UAC? it sounds too good to be true this march... will have to do more research...dont think Muslims will be there...they will be more insulted to admit they have islamofacists in their midst! and to those who are still pissed at Bush's no referring to muslim terrorist, as islmaofacists..etc.. you always need to remind,, the need to be PC is so ingrained in the media.. they could destroy your reputation...

CANBERRA AUSTRALIA:
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.
Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia, one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false.
If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option," Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country.
Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off". "Basically, people who don't want to be Australians, and they don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then they can basically clear off," he said.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.
AMERICANS... ARE YOU LISTENING? And reading?
Hugh,
You said,
"Bush did not use the term "Islamofascism" in propria persona. He said "some use the term...." and that term is a weasel-term, favored by the likes of Christopher -- qui fait son petit Orwell -- Hitchens, a great believer in the Infidel Man's Burden."
True; Bush did not go nearly far enough. Re: Hitchens: Yeah.
Personally, I was more ticked off by Bush's misquoting of 5:32. Nevertheless, his baby-step in setting up a primitive association (Islam-Bad) is a step in the right direction, in endorsing those comments, should be encouraged. A qualified reward for that, plus punishment over his butchering 5:32, and maybe he can be trained to begin to walk and then run. (I know: it's pathetic that we should be praising baby-steps at this stage, but this is where we're at).
As for UAC's initiative, it does have the potential to be a lot more than a baby-step, even if the labelling is not the best.
"Islamofascism" versus "Islam"
I would have preferred that they had just used Islam, or Islamism. "Islamofascism" implies that there is a mild tolerant version, which is untrue. Other terms: Islamic Imperialism, Islamic Supremacism, Islamic Totalitarianism. (The latter term is certainly more accurate than -fascism, but it has too many syllables).
Once one learns what Islam is, it is redundant to add "Imperialism," etc.
faqi,
Thanks for this. I'll forward this to my member of parliament. (Here in Canada, our politicians are cowed by political correctness, but the Australian example may encourage them).
""Islamofascism" implies that there is a mild tolerant version, which is untrue."
To that I should add, the Koran itself forbids anything like a mild version.
Thanks for picking what promises to one of the coldest days of the year,
Did you put any thought in to this ?
Perhaps a follow up rally in April, May or June would attract the people who can not handle cold weather.
Saturdays should be considered as not everybody can get off from work Monday through Friday.
