At least eight people were killed in a gunfight between Indian security forces and Kashmir rebels on Saturday, an army official said....More than a dozen Islamic rebel groups have been fighting security forces in India's portion of Kashmir for the region's independence, or its merger with mostly Muslim Pakistan. The 16-year insurgency has claimed more 66,000 lives.
India accuses Pakistan of training and funding the militants, a charge denied by Islamabad, which says its cracking down militant groups operating from its territory. The South Asian rival have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir, which both claim in its entirety....
You know, I hear that Kashmir is a very beautiful region but, geez, how hard is it to draw a line down the middle and split it?

the debate will continue for ever weather India should have been partitioned or not and who was to blame but it means nothing.
the moslems wanted their own country and now they have it and what a mess.
Britain and India parted company however they parted as friends.
Thats why the very worst a Briton or American would face in my mum and dads village in the punjab would be total indifference.
Both the Uk and USA trade with India business ties are growing, who gives a toss about pakistan, it probably won't exist in 50 years.

Lovely day in London. Went to Gunnersbury museum and read acount of local Indian immigrant who worked as security on the trains during Partition. Told how he was repeatedly offered suitcases full of booty (gold & cash) to turn a blind eye so the mussies could slaughter the refugees. His train would often pass others already ransacked, where piles of corpses rotted in the sun.
Ah well. That's the Islam for ya.
India should seal the borders with Pakistan, throw out the rascals from their country.. maybe the rest of the world will take a lead. but l doubt it.. we have to go there and wack them first.
Remember Paks very existence came from militancy. during their first invasion over kashmir way back in 1948, pak army infiltrated like terrorists. Pakistans Intelligence , ISI only objective is to destroy india. infact that was their only intented role. first kashmir and then himachal and ultimately delhi. Pakistan's 65% defence budget is spent for training young disillusioned muslims to kill non muslims in india. The most unfortunate thing in india is that the only "man" in india was INDHIRA GANDHI, who had the courage to bash pakis. We need people like her, who would not succumb to US pressure. I do not understand why US is selling F-16s to pakis who are giving a safe haven to OSAMA and likes. Instead US should fund india to stop these paki jehadi Ba!@#$%^.
Remember non existance of pakistan on this planet would make this planet heaven.
Remember Kargil war Indian Prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee wanted to finish of pakistan once and for all but he too chickened out at the last moment because of US pressure. Indian Leaders need courage to fight Jehadis. Offcourse they have courage but they use it for petty politics. like rioting for power etc.
