A cold and deadly eve in Iraq

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

BAGHDAD, Iraq-- Twelve car bombs exploded around Iraq on Sunday, including eight in Baghdad that detonated within a three-hour window, as insurgents continued their attacks in the new year. The bombs injured at least 20 people but killed no one, police said...

In Baghdad, the first car bomb exploded at about 8:15 a.m. as Iraqi army soldiers were patrolling a northern neighborhood, wounding two soldiers, police Lt. Bilal Ali Majid said.

Seven more car bombs exploded over the next 2 1/2 hours, wounding a total of nine people, police said. One suicide attacker died. Police later detonated a ninth car bomb in a controlled explosion.

Just north of Tikrit, a suicide car bomber detonated his car near an American patrol, injuring six civilians, police 1st Lt. Ali Jasmin said. Iraqi police had no information on American casualties and U.S. officials had no immediate information.

Two car bombs also exploded in Kirkuk, including one that targeted an American convoy.

So it was a cold and deadly eve in Iraq, and it sounds like the only fatalities were the car bombers themselves. The Chicago Sun-Times must be sooooo disappointed.

This isn't news. When a day goes by without muslims slaughtering each other in the name of god, then it will be news.

Maybe the tides will turn this year as to terrorist dying instead of innocents.

One has to wonder whether or not a suicide bomber who is not succesful becomes martyred or is sent to hell for his/her failure?????

I believe the latter and hope it to be a deterrent to those who wish to follow.

l think they should ban cars, trucks in Baghdad, would prevent a lot of car bombs. l would do this for a short while, then local people can point out the losers in their midst. which many have already!

Lulu,
They will invent the wheel-barrow bomb then.
These murderers never run out of ideas.

Thats true rocky. We've already seen bombs on donkeys.

I guess that makes Iraq MUCH safer than Washington, New York, or even Toronto!

I wonder why doesn't MSM point that out...
