Remember that this data is from 3 years ago. Undoubtedly it has increased since then. I've read other stories (can find them if you want and provide references) where a Muslim male died of Aids and his family blamed his wife for infecting him and cast her out without any help. She had AIDS also, but claimed it was her husband who had infected her. From what I gather, in Islamic culture, such disease is seen as a judgement against a person by Allah. It is therefore stigmatized and not likely to be admitted how the disease was contracted, but blamed on the most convenient scapegoat, usually a wife.

Naseem - Islam does have prostitution. It is called having a "temporary wife", justification for which comes straight from Islamic teachings. Maybe some others here who are more knowledgeable can elaborate on the verse/s - as I couldn't be bothered looking for it, but I have read it before in Islamic teachings.
In fact the problem of "temporary wives" is very widespread in that Islamic paradise of Iran. Women are "contracted" to be a "wife" for a period of time and are paid by the man. This could be as little as a couple of weeks. The man gets to “bonk” her all he likes. If children arise - he has the choice of either taking them, or leaving them with her to look after. She has no say in the matter.
The end result? There are many suffering women in Iran as a result of the Islamic form of prostitution. They wander, desperate, looking for where their next meal is coming from for both themselves and their abandoned kids. What is the difference between contracting a women for half an hour for sex, and contracting a "temporary wife" for sex? Nothing - it's both a form of prostitution. The only difference between a western prostitute and an Islamic "Temprory Wife" is that the Western girl is usually at least 18 (where a legal establishment is concerned), not as young as nine, and the western girl probably has a s#$t load more money (if it doesn't go on drugs).
As for women in that other Islamic Paradise - Afghanistan, many a young girl as young as nine is "sold" off as a "wife" to dirty old men, where the parents are in debt. I think that a little perspective here. Several years ago there was a very strong rumour that Aids was developed in a top Amrikan lab. It was then accidentially/deliberately released out onto the monkey population in Afrika...to study the virus ..with little hope of hopping to the human.
So strong was this rumor that it is said that even the wolves started to howl louder and longer protesting to Allah (swt) about the injustice.
Sadly we now know that virus can easily jump the species barrier and the infidel was wrong to spread the virus in this way. So today we are where we are. This time the infidel has not escaped it's effects either.

Many of the Muslims of southern Thailand do not consider themselves Thai. They have their own language, similar to Malay.

The sad truth, which needs to be told, is that John Walker Lindh's father (a successful lawyer in San Francisco) himself is gay and had been separated from the wife for many years. The young man appeared to have so much self-loathing about his own sexuality that he sought out a cleansing mechanism. His father naively assisted him in studying Arabic in Yemen thinking his son was "getting more culturally enriched". Previously, young Lindh posted many anti gay remarks on web pages and in some sites assailed "racist" white people. He appears to have been drawn by a Malcolm X type of "cool" notion of being Islamic.
The truth is gays too can become terrorists. This is not intended as a joke by any means. Political correctness forced the media from disclosing the fact his father was gay, not that it is that relevant anyway, or is it?
