COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Muslim leaders welcomed steps by Denmark on Wednesday to defuse a diplomatic row over newspaper cartoons that seemed to portray Prophet Mohammad as a terrorist.A Muslim community spokesman and Egypt's ambassador in Copenhagen welcomed Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen's New Year address, in which he defended free speech but urged Danes to exercise the right without inciting hatred against Muslims.
Rasmussen's conciliatory words, which Copenhagen translated into Arabic and distributed to Middle Eastern countries, came after Arab foreign ministers last week condemned the Danish government for not acting against the Jyllands-Posten daily.

Christians had "The Life Of Brian" and "The Holy Grail". Imagine what would happen if you did that with Islam. We've seen their response to a few cartoons. I'm a photographic artist and I can't draw, so getting the idea across in photographic form is much more difficult.
Those cartoons were almost all so mild that one wonders what the Muslim rage was about. It was about warning the Infidels -- don't even try something this innocuous. We will make your lives very difficult.
It is unclear if it has worked. Rasmussen's remark about exercising the right of free speech "without inciting hatred of Muslims" is something that Ali Sina and Ibn Warraq and everyone here could subscribe to. It does not prevent one from examining and adducing the evidence for what the canonical texts say, or the evidence that many Muslims accept those canonical texts and have proven quite willing, in very different places, over 1350 years, to put those tenets into practice in the conquest, and subsequent subjugation, of non-Muslim peoples. Let's see if this is a tiny capitulation -- or a carefully phrased remark that turns out, on closer inspection, not to have been any sort of capitulation at all.
Meanwhile, where's the coverage? Where's the Western media treatment of this offense to free speech and to journalists, the coccolati of other journalists? Waiting, flipping through the pages of The New Duranty Times, and still waiting.

In the meantime, being a photographic artist, why don’t you take some striking pictures of a Qur’an with a huge, steaming pile of dog droppings on it? Maybe find a pig farm, stick the book in the mud with the pigs clearly visible and mingling around it, and snap off one there? Perhaps a Qur’an suspended in urine? I’m sure with a little creativity you can easily offend the easily offended.

I did a graphical projection which suggested France getting a Muslim majority population sometime in 2071, I extended the graph trend lines for Britain and came up with 2108. So Britain is a mere 37 years behind France as things currently stand - France getting a 50%-plus Muslim population in 65 years, Britain in 102. But certain things crossed my mind. The British people are no more equipped to stop the march of Islam than their French counterparts, and I was thinking today "If you walk down the central aisle of a 10 carriage train in Britain with each carriage almost full - say 500 passengers on that train - how many of those passsengers would know how to use an assault rifle, RPG launcher, or make IED's like their Middle Eastern counterparts? Maybe 2 or 3 at the most. Were this an equivalent train in the Middle East, the best part of 300 out of 500 passengers would know how to use AK47s, RPG's, and make IED's, know how to wage a guerrilla war, and be prepared to martyr themselves. So this means that not only are we in the West getting outnumbered numerically by Muslims, we're far, far, more heavily outnumbered by them in the "knowing how to use firearms and explosives department" as well. This would only prove too well Churchills phrase in the River War from 1899 "Were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had so vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of Ancient Rome", but that science advantage has gone through mass availability of weapons and explosives to our Islamic enemies, and unless we force Islam into decline NOW by telling it as it is and stopping the political correctness which is hurtling our civilization to its doom just like the Byzantine Empire - incidentally killed off by islamists - the portents wil be far worse than even the most pessimistic have put out on these boards so far.

Now, it seems that the cartoons in Jyllands-Posten were not alone. Nor were they the most inflammatory ones.
According to Jyllands-Posten, a Danish newspaper, "Weekendavisen", published 10 satirical cartoons in November 2005. Some made fun of christian symbols(a bearded virgin mary), others of muslim symbols.
Kasem Ahmad, spokesman of "society of muslim faith"(muslimsk trossamfund), says that the cartoons printed by "Weekendavisen", were worse than those in Jyllands-Posten. It is especially a cartoon depicting a bearded woman, with the caption "Can you even prove that the prophet wasn't a woman?", which angers Kasem Ahmad.
Guess Jyllands-Posten doesn't stand alone after all.

Free speech must be truly unfettered so as to disinclude government participation. This principle is especially important in the Global War for Freedom, given that it's the infidel governments that are the ones subverting the freedoms its citizens enjoy, or at least did at one time, that being the pre-Moslem immigration time (i.e., the good old days).

You're right mullahmasher. They're already flexing their muscles when they make up 3% of the population as in the UK, and a virtual insurrection when they make up 10% of the population (and 70% of the prison population) in France. They've made several suburbs of several European cities mini-Fallujas - virtual no-go areas where the police dare not venture, and places where the police dare not venture are totally lawless, and they've just seen how weak and pathetic the French authorities are - so expect a spring and summer of discontent there anytime from April onwards. 50% is beyond the point of no return, and we only have to wait until around 2035 before they make up 25% of the population in France - the point as you say, at which France is starting to go under, and those well-educated Christian French take to the lifeboats and head for the US, Australia etc before that country gets completely submerged.
The point of the newspaper project, in the first place, was to show that some artists were NOT afraid to draw pictures of Mohammad (pb&j) in uncomplimentary or satiric poses.
The majority of the illustrations I've found are wimpy and unclear. Only one ...with a turban, on Mohammad's noggin, shaped into an old-fashioned round black comic book-type bomb -with fuse burning low- ... and another with the Islamic crescent coyly placed over Mohammad's head to form devil's horns, even make much overt criticism.
The Danish minister in charge of mollifying the miffed Muslims should simply say: "Denmark is a free country with a free press. We will defend our right to laugh at anything and anyone because civilization is built on open inquiry, not dogmatic subservience. If you don't like what you see in one of our papers, write a letter to the editor. Next question."

I've proposed the "Moslem octane" calculation whereby the historio-genetic makeup of the Moslem population is used to estimate the flashpoint at which the pistons of Jihad will begin firing with full force.
The corollary metric of Moslem Octane would be the "Infidel cylinder head" calculation, used to measure a culture's structural capability to channel Moslem power out its exhaust.

I grew up on his illustrations of the stories of Hans Christian Andresen, a green book, usually accompanied by a red book of Grimm's Fairy Tales, illustrated by another talented refugee from Hitler, Fritz Kredel. And on the floor as I type this is the beautifully elaborate cover that Szyk did, along with illustrations to the letterpress, for Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
But what Szyk excelled at, what needs to be remembered, are his cartoons of Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo -- I have one, partly damaged but with their hideous faces still visible.
I assume you are asking: Where is Arthur Szyk (pronounced "Schick") now that we need him? Where are those capable of drawing these people -- Ahmadinejad, Bin Laden, Al-Zarqawi, assorted Saudi clerics, and Shi'a clerics, and cowering on the side, the moronic armstrongs and hireling espositos -- in the way that Arthur Szyk could and did do.
Ubi sunt, now that we need them, those deadly caricaturists in the groszian manner, as they have not been needed for 60 years, since the days of Szyk and before him, John Heartfield.
I understand that the purpose of Jyllands Posten was to get cartoonists to draw Muhammad. The crime in the eyes of Muslims is the fact that most of them FORBID ANY IMAGES OF MUHAMMAD. It's not about the content of the images, it's about the IMAGES themselves.
And I'll say it again: those Muslims who are steadfast in demanding an apology from Denmark sure seem like a bunch of crybabies. Maybe they are truly offended by ANY IMAGES of the "prophet". But their prohibition on pictures of Muhammad should not be imposed on the rest of us Non-Muslims.
AS FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT: Many of remember the photograph of a crucifix submerged in urine, and called "art". Seems to me the purpose of that work of "art" was to offend.
When making your images, just don't put yourself on that same level as the "artist" who submerged a crucifix in his own urine and thought it worthy to be photographed.
Perhaps we'll see a depiction of Muhammad and Safiya, whom he married after killing her father, husband, and others.

Speaking of South Park, the bigger American prime-time (regular television, therefore watched by more people (though South Park has begun being syndicated by a TV network) cartoon show The Simpsons has had innumerable scenes making outrageous light of Christianity and Judaism over the years.
One that comes to mind: someone suggests to Homer that the Bible might be more palatable to him if he imagines it as a hot babe. Homer imagines, and a cartoon bubble appears above his imagining head, showing the Bible with arms and legs like a Radio City Rockettes dancer. If this had been a Koran being imagined in a Muslim country's cartoon show, there would have been riots, arson, and likely murders (and if it had appeared in an American show, there would have been global demands for sensitivity and apologies, and FOX would have yanked the show). This happens in America, however, with the Christian Bible as target of ridicule, and the most you get are laughs and chuckles, and maybe some muttering and griping among some Christians here and there -- and The Simpsons continues to be a top-rated prime-time show.
I saw that episode of South Park; the main plot element was an attack on Alcoholics Anonymous, and I didn't think that aspect of it was very effective or funny either. (After all, AA has helped a lot of my favorite rock musicians live past their 30s).
It just wasn't a great episode; it almost needs the controversy to keep from falling into obscurity as a complete dud. They were attacking two institutions without making a clear point on either, as they successfully have in other satires of environmentalism, stem cell research, Scientology, and so on.
I think the closest we'll get to a South Park episode on Islam is the masterpiece that came out after 9/11, with bin Laden's gibberish including "Ramadan" and "IshtarFatwaOpenSesame."
However, to segue back to the Danes, someone should point this out to the Muslims there while they have their scarves on too tight: Ever listen to "Come Sail Away" (once brilliantly rendered by SP's Cartman) and imagine Mohammed as the main character?

I think The Simpsons has a certain touch with the topic of religion; 99% of the time, they manage to "go there" without causing any public outcry.
But now that you mention it, Islam is noticeably absent from the very diverse mix, though. There was that Catholic conversion episode, and there are lots of Protestant characters (Ned Flanders in particular); Krusty is Jewish, Lisa is Buddhist, and Apu is Hindu ("Oh good, no more Shiva-related injuries!"). They even went to Dr. Hibbert's church once, where Bart exclaimed, "'Black' God rules!"
Maybe there's just nothing funny about Islam. Wait... yeah there is. ;)

As I recall, the real controversy over the Maplethorpe work called "Piss Christ" ( a picture of a crucifix immersed in a glass of urine) was not that it was produced, but that it was funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. If it had been privately funded, rather than funded by the taxpayers, nobody would have objected.
Thus the issue was that of government funding, not freedom of expression. The Danish cartoons were all published in a privately owned newspaper and should not be restricted.
That wasn't Mapplethorpe. It was Andres Serrano.

Can there be victory against this dark foe? Can the West withstand this unwelcome and poisonous challenge from the true infidel -- the Muslim?
I have said many times here... it's possible that Islam has already destroyed us. Perhaps we are, as yet, unaware of the full measure of the damage already done... We seem to have two choices before us:
1. Continue to appease Muslim demands, curtail our freedoms, allow them to use our freedoms and rights to undermine those very same freedoms and rights to elevate Islam in our domain until it emerges victorious...
or
2. Become like our enemy to fight our enemy... Ruthlessly attack Muslims whenever and wherever we encounter them -- terrorize them in our lands, as they terrorize us both in their lands, and now in our own... Reduce their status in our lands to that of chattel and serf and enemy, as they do to non-Muslims in their own lands... Utilize their tactics of bigotry, hatred, intolerance and terrorism against them to drive Muslims wholesale from our lands... Adopt the Muslim doctrine of supremacism and annihilation against Islam, let no opportunity pass to undermine ALL Islamic institutions, economies, and communities -- Disrupt them whenever and wherever we might...
In short -- We seem to be faced with the choice between succumbing to their erosive and sometimes violent aggression against us, appeasing them vainly in the hope that they will stop, but in so doing, merely postpone the day of reckoning...

Take up arms against them by becoming as hateful of them as they are of us ... Wantonly destroying them as they do us... And in so doing, lose our moderate hearts, and surrender our pluralistic humanistic souls in the process...
The chalice is poisoned against us either way -- Either way we choose between slow annihilation and eventual servitude, or we choose to survive after jettisoning our core values to destroy them... In the end, we too are made into brutes like them in both scenarios...
This may be overly dramatic and stark -- but I don't believe so! If these stark choices are all that remain, I'd still choose to survive, and hope to make ammends after the fact for the horrors we are forced to unleash against our determined Muslim foe... But make no mistake... We have already lost too much by merely allowing them into our midst with their evil and inimical ideology -- Perhaps the true question should be: At what point do we lay down the gauntlet and begin to truly fight? Do we wait until every last institution is undermined, until every last politician is compromised? At the very least, we must immediately staunch the flowing wound which Islam has already inflicted on us by stopping their growth in our sovereign lands in the West...
Their growth, in numbers and in strength must be stopped at all costs! They must not be allowed to further secure the beachhead they have established on our soil -- They must be stopped... Their violations of our sanctity must be stopped... Their destruction of our security, their undermining of our laws and rights to further Islam must be stopped... Ultimately, their Jihad must be utterly destroyed, or we ourselves will not remain to care or know of Islam's crimes...
