Well, now everything's going to be all right, I suppose. We're all dhimmis now. That is, unless they conclude that the statement was indeed ambiguous. From AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
COPENHAGEN, Denmark - A Danish Muslim group Tuesday accepted an apology from a newspaper that published offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad but said later that it had decided the statement was ambiguous. The group did not elaborate and it was unclear if there would be any effect on protests and boycotts of Danish goods in Muslim countries.
The offices of the newspaper Jyllands-Posten were briefly evacuated Tuesday evening after an English-speaking person called in a bomb threat to the switchboard, and an Internet statement purportedly from insurgents in Iraq urged attacks in Denmark and Norway, the first known call for violent reprisals over the cartoons....
In a statement published late Monday, Jyllands-Posten apologized and said it regretted offending Muslims. It stood by the decision to print the cartoons, saying it was within Danish law.
The drawings "were not intended to be offensive, nor were they at variance with Danish law, but they have indisputably offended many Muslims for which we apologize," the daily said Monday.
Danish Muslims said Tuesday that they welcomed the apology. However, 27 Muslim groups met later in the day to discuss the statement and declared it "ambiguous."
"We lack a clear statement where the newspaper apologizes for the offense and stand by it," said Ahmed Akkari, a spokesman for the groups.
The Danish Muslims thanked Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen for saying Monday evening that his government could not apologize on behalf of a newspaper, but that he personally "never would have depicted Muhammad, Jesus or any other religious character in a way that could offend other people."
Two minutes ago State of the Union, President
Bush paraphrased Islam is a noble faith, perverted by radical Islam.
Predictable, expected.
Wonder how the Bushbots will spin this one.
Like they spun the apologie of Denmark, trying to claim that it wasn't an apology.
So the cry babies got their apology, now where's ours?
Where is the international demand that Saudi Arabia apologize for their offensive ban on crosses and Bibles?
Where is the international demand that the Saudi government apologize for its official government visa site that says "No Jewish People" allowed?
Where is the international demand that Muslims apologize for the destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan and all the other priceless works of art?
Where is the international demand that Muslims apologize for the millions of non-Muslims kidnepped and sold into the cruelist forms of slavery?
Where is the international demand that Muslim newspapers apologize for the cartoons that picture Christians and Jews as monkeys and pigs?
I guess we'll get those Muslim apologies soon... and then again, Christian and Jewish monkeys might fly out my butt!
So the EU is going to apoligise to all the Christians for all the stuff that they do that offends them? You know, like the "science" of evolution being classed as a science rather than a "faith" and then pushed onto Christian kids, or outlawing some evangelical groups in the EU, yet Islam is OK? Or same sex marriage? Or the pissing Christ “art” etc etc
Nope I think not. Christians and Jews in Europe are fair game. I hope the secular Euro's enjoy their "secular" state - as it will soon be a theocracy. I hope they have de- odourised their bums, as soon they will have their noses up some man's rear end 5 times a day facing Mecca.
You thought so, they thought, they rethought so.
They are not satisfied, they find Carsten Juste has made comments following, that repeal the excuse.
So they are now missing a unambigious statement.
As for the Bahrain, they want the queen to apologize.
Hamas they want the drawers hanged or something like that.
The butt just hurts when it drops between two chairs, but it almost did not work. :p
They are so far satisfied with what Rasmussen said. So these two chairs stood close enough together ?
However Akkari, one of the Imans travelling the world, claimed the reaction in the Arab world has surprised them.
This is funny because according to this site ( And the kind one translating some ):
http://www.no4denmark.com/
They tried to get the Arab world to make a boycott.
So there is something rotten in Denmark, once again.

ONE WAY TO FIGHT BACK
An easy way to strike a blow against the tyrannical bullying Muslims who hate free speech and love darkness and the things that live in darkness: Type a simple flier on your computer, something like:
What is terrorism? Find out at jihadwatch.com.
Or:
What is terrorism? Find out at faithfreedom.org.
Make 20 copies and discreetly leave them in a public library, on a bus, wherever. If one hundredth of the millions of visitors to this site did that once in a while, it could make a dent.
As a Christian, I have no idea what Christ looked like.
A Muslim can have no idea what Mohammed looked like as his image was forbidden.
Therefore, how can any Muslim complain about the cartoons being Mohammed? It is impossible to know..
The only conclusion is that all Muslims are liars.

Kudos.
A few other little slips (and stickers) you can add to that quiet campaign:

The truth is a bitch.
Time to breed her.

A mad world, my masters.
sonofwalker,
Thanks for posting that link again. One problem: Some problem with my software will not permit me to register a comment (on the above linked blog) on the Mohammad portrait illustration. Perhaps you could post this on my behalf, as I believe it will be helpful to the artist’s case:
1. The depiction of the small female in the background (a deflowered Ayesha) will simply have no meaning to anyone who doesn't already know who Ayesha is, what age she was, what Mohammad did. This is why it is so important to quote the Islamic texts themselves. Here are the references.
Ayesha—Mohammad marries her at 6 (or 7) years of age, sex with her at 9 years of age.
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64:
Narrated 'Aisha:
that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 65:
Narrated 'Aisha:
that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)." what you know of the Quran (by heart)'
Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 58, Number 236:
Narrated Hisham's father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old.
Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3311:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married her when she was seven years old, and she was taken to his house as a bride when she was nine, and her dolls were with her; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old.
And from the Islamic historian Tabari: Tabari IX:131 “My mother came to me [Ayesha] while I was being swung on a swing between two branches and got me down. My nurse took over and wiped my face with some water and started leading me. When I was at the door she stopped so I could catch my breath. I was brought in while Muhammad was sitting on a bed in our house. My mother made me sit on his lap. The other men and women got up and left. The Prophet consummated his marriage with me in my house when I was nine years old.”
One suggestion to the artist: The idea that this is a child needs to be made even clearer, stronger. Revise the drawing by having Ayesha holding a doll in one of her arms. (See the Muslim reference, above).
2. The Nazi symbol is also going to be misunderstood because most people do not understand Mohammad's hatred of the Jews, and they don't understand that this is in the Koran and ahadith. Here are some of the key the references.
Koran:
9:29 Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture [Jews and Christians] as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.
9:30 And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!
9:31 They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no God save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!
9:32 Fain would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah disdaineth (aught) save that He shall perfect His light, however much the disbelievers are averse.
9:33 He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion, however much the idolaters may be averse.
9:34 O ye who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar (men) from the way of Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, unto them give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom,
9:35 On the day when it will (all) be heated in the fire of hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith (and it will be said unto them): Here is that which ye hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what ye used to hoard.
From the aHadith:
Sahih Muslim, Book 041, Number 6985. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."
Sahih Muslim, Book 19, Number 4366: Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab:"Umar heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslims.'"

That a Danish Muslim group accepts the apology is meaningless and irrelevant unless we had some assurances that the overwhelming majority of Muslims accepted the apology. They don't. Nothing will be good enough. And no Dane should be apologizing in the first place. The Danish Muslim group should be condemning the death threats and should be defending the right to freely criticize and ridicule the prophet. They should be apologizing to the Danes for misunderstanding what a cartoon is, and for disrespecting the concept of freedom of expression. I'm sure that some time close to when hell freezes over, Muslims will apologize for death threats, intimidation, Koran-mandated hatred of non-Muslims, etc.
In its press report today, Euronews showed Die Welt's front page. On it I saw the bomb-in-turban Mohammad cartoon! So it's spreading, anyway!
A french newspaper just re-printed all 12 cartoons today. Would be nice if newspapers in all civilized countries followed suit. Then the fanatics will either have to declare war on the entire world or back down entirely.
So, how about putting some pressure on your national media to print those drawings?
Go France, go Frane, go, go, go France!
Today a French newspaper, France Soir, republished the 12 Danish Muhammed caricatures, reports Jyllands-Posten.
WOO! Let's see them threaten France now as well.
Arla Food ingredient hits WalMart shelves
Patented by Spherix, Gaio tagatose is produced from milk sugar lactose. In 1996 Denmark's MD Foods - subsequently taken over by Arla Foods - acquired the rights to this low calorie sweetener with a prebiotic effect - it stimulates the beneficial bacteria in the digestive system - for use in foodstuffs. Today the product is manufactured and sold as Gaio tagatose for food and beverage uses under license by Arla Foods Ingredients.
The Pasco Beverage company's newly launched Light & Tasty juices that contain the tooth-friendly sweetener and bear the Gaio tagatose logo will be carried by WalMart as well as other retailers. The frozen fruit juices and ready-to-drink juices come in orange juice cocktail, apple, fruit punch, and lemonade flavours. The products will be sold under each retail chain's own label.
According to Spherix, the juices combine tagatose and the high intensity sweetener sucralose, and contain 45 per cent fewer calories and up to 70 per cent fewer carbohydrates than ordinary juice

LET THE MUSLIMS DRINK GOAT MILK AND CAMEL PISS
Sooner or later we are going to have to take an initial step in reducing our reliance on the oil from Saudi Arabia (and other countries involved in this boycott against Denmark). Might as well take that first step now. If we could get the cooperation of all the western countries and Russia, we could put a lot of pressure on the Saudis. We will feel some pain now, but the more we procrastinate, the worse it be for us.
Well, you guys will probably totally disagree with me, but...
This cartoon rage was the very best thing that possibly could have happened. Why?
Sure, the papers didn't print the cartoons, they don't have to, the internet has been buzzing with them, because everyone of course now wants a look.
Result: Everyone has seen them now.
Next, the silly childish behaviour of muslims worldwide has really gotten the attention of everyone, including the knights in delusional armor who would normally defend 'the weak and feeble'. I was delighted to see this as top headline in the Spiegel yesterday, and the Forum is totally buzzing and *everyone* is annoyed at that much stupidity and intolerance, this was the best wakeup call for everyone there could have been.
Newspaper readers chuckled at the idea of Mohammed running out of virgins -- the cartoon was not reprinted, but 'explained', heh.
Those muslim groups and governments managed to well and proper set themselves and their silly Islam ideology up as international laughing stocks here.
What is not to love? :):):)
Imli
Support the Danes ! http://supportdenmark.com
i agree with imli - this "cartoon rage" issue has backfired spectacularly.
Reuters story on France's "Soir" republishing the cartoons:
http://in.today.reuters.com/News/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2006-02-01T161612Z_01_NOOTR_RTRJONC_0_India-234762-1.xml
The publication of 12 cartoons in the Danish press has shocked the Muslim world for whom the representation of Allah and his prophet is banned," France Soir said in a front page comment below one of the controversial drawings.
"But because no religious dogma can impose its view on a democratic and secular society, France Soir publishes the incriminated cartoons," it said.
Under a headline "Yes, we have the right to caricature God", the paper ran a front page cartoon with Buddha, the Christian and Jewish Gods and the Prophet Mohammad sitting on a cloud above Earth, with the Christian God saying: "Don't complain Mohammad, we've all been caricatured here."
Now the muslims are gonna go positively balistic(of the nuke warhead type)
French "France soir" has published the cartoons, German "Die welt" has published some of them and Icelandic "D.V." has also chosen to publish the cartoons.
5 European countries now! GOOOOOOOOOO EUROPE!
Hopefully the more they protest too much, the more Mohammeds we see in print. They must grind their teeth everytime he pops up.

OT. An interesting article on frontpage mag. It's lengthy, but puts alot of the Islamic BS into historical perspective (if you didn't already know)
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=21088
I'm not sure why anyone thinks there was an apology?
The editor responsible has stated that he is sorry that the drawings have offended, but in the same breath he also says that he is NOT sorry they printed them and that the paper still stands firm when it comes to the decision to print them. And our primeminister has said that he personally wouldn't have printed the drawings and then went on to defend Jyllandspostens right do so!
If the radical muslims in Denmark want to claim that is an apology towards them, it can only be because they are afraid that what they have started will backfire on themselves. I think they badly want this to go away and be forgotten, but without risking "losing face" by admitting they made a bad mistake.
They've let the genie out of the bottle and there is no way they can put it back in there.
Why should there have been an apology. Muslims coming to the West know, or should know, what the West is about. If they don't like the way things are done, they should leave. Period.
imli,
I think most people here would agree with you that the cartoon rage will alert more westerners to the problems with Islam.
"Danish Muslims said Tuesday that they welcomed the apology. However, 27 Muslim groups met later in the day to discuss the statement and declared it 'ambiguous.'
'We lack a clear statement where the newspaper apologizes for the offense and stand by it,' said Ahmed Akkari, a spokesman for the groups."
Oh, touche, eh?
Some Danish muslims are smart enough to know when to quit when ahead. If they dont then there will be trouble ahead.
DP111:
Or perhaps their grasp of Danish, not to mention subtlety of reason, leaves a bit to be desired.
