Gaza gunmen kidnap Italian in growing chaos

From Reuters:

GAZA - Masked gunmen kidnapped an Italian activist in the Gaza Strip on Sunday and police tried to negotiate for his release.

The kidnapping was a blow to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas only a few hours after he had vowed to end an upsurge of hostage taking and unrest that threatened to derail elections due on January 25.

The gunmen seized the hostage during a visit by a delegation of 18 Italians ahead of the election. The kidnapping came just three days after three British hostages were set free in Gaza...

Hours earlier, gunmen stormed a U.N. club in Gaza City and blew up the bar -- the only place where alcohol is served openly in the conservative Muslim territory. Nobody was hurt, but the attack added to security fears.

Chaos has grown in the Gaza Strip since the departure of Israeli troops in September after 38 years of occupation intensified a power struggle among militant factions, gangs and security forces...

Militant factions said that as of January 1 they had abandoned the de facto truce that has delivered the longest decrease in violence since the start of a Palestinian uprising in 2000

Israeli fire killed two Palestinian militants in Gaza on Saturday after rocket attacks from a "no-go zone" it decreed in the north of the strip last week to curb such cross-border fire.

Palestinians say the buffer zone is tantamount to re-occupying areas that Israel gave up last year...

UPDATE from Reuters:

GAZA - Palestinian security forces said they had freed an Italian hostage who was kidnapped by masked gunmen in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. Security forces said that the Italian peace activist was being taken to a compound in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.

"Our forces surrounded the area and the kidnappers fled in fear and left the hostage behind," said a member of the Preventive Security force.

How did they flee if the area was surrounded?

Hmmm......

Now let me think.....................

The increasingly pungent aroma of 5 day old halibut wafts across Gaza.

No sooner does this Italian get released, that five Italians get kidnapped in northern Yemen

What the hell do Westerners go to these places for, when there's a high chance they'll get kidnapped? I wouldn't go to any of these countries for a million pounds.

As in this case, many of them must think they're somehow immune as "peace activists." Can you imagine the pleading? "But I'm with you! I respect your right to hold me hostage for ransom under threat of death!"

They have Stockholm Syndrome before they're even captured... must be kind of a letdown for their abductors.

This is but another chapter in the never ending saga of manifest chaos in Gaza...it falls into the 'to be expected' catagory...it will get worse...

From duh swami and all those jillions of little swami's, Happy New Year to the staff and propriators of this fine website. May your fortunes grow as jihad shrinks.
And the same to national (US) and international participants...you are all great and deserve a good year...cheers...swami...

I call shenanigans. I wouldn't be surprised if most of these activists are complicit in these 'kidnappings.' This is fundraising.

Rockets fired from Gaza at an Israeli preschool. Homicide bomber intercepted on way to a children's Hanuka party. Isreal is now enforcing the "no go" zone and will resume targeted assinations. These animals do not respond to reason, to negotiation, to moral entreaties, nor even to cash bribes (though they will take the money!). Deal with them as you would deal with a rabid dog. Your only concern should be the safety of actual humans.

Japanese people almost never go to any religious services (under 1% go weekly) and even though many American Presidents have promised to tackle the crime issue, the Christian Americans are still a violent and uncontrollable people.

Can the Japanese and other peaceloving people of the world sit by?

Americans are unfit for self-rule, and the incredibly high levels of murder, rape and theft amongst them is proof of it.

So this is life under Palestinian rule, violence, anarchy and chaos.Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Josh, you can't seriously be comparing Americans who created the richest and most powerful country in the history of the planet with the savages in Gaza? The Palestinians can't even feed themselves without handouts from the US and EU.

As an organizing system, Islam is designed to bring out the worst possible behavior from humans.

JoshNarins writes:

Japan is a rather racist country, and they don't
yet have large numbers of other races in the
country. Perhaps that is what you'd like to see
for the USA? according to FBI stats I read, it
may actually work, since blacks commit crimes at
a rate roughly three times higher than hispanics,
who commit crimes at a rate roughly three times
higher than whites, who commit crimes at a rate
roughly three times higher than Asians (here
the American use of the term, those of Chinese,
Japanese, Korean, ... descent). So, if we replace
all of the higher crime blacks, hispanics, and
whites, with asians, we'll dramatically lower
crime.

Among the many other problems with your silly
"analysis" is that you didn't establish a
correlation between (Christian) church attendance
and the criminal behavior.

Why don't you hop off of the soap box and
actually engage your brain before clicking the
keyboard? I'm sure you think you have a point.
But you didn't make it.

"Can the Japanese and other peaceloving people of the world sit by?"

You're a very confused individual. Having lower
crime doesn't make the Japanese "peace loving".
Ask the Chinese, Koreans, and others.

"Americans are unfit for self-rule, and the incredibly high levels of murder, rape and theft amongst them is proof of it."

Maybe you should leave then? How about
Scandinavia? The rape levels are going up quite
a bit there. Maybe you could apply your powerful
intellect and tell us why?

Do nothing. No jizyah. No NGOs coming to inspect or support. No "human rights activists" allowed in, to do what Hitler's "human rights activists" (Nazi agents) did in the Sudetenland in 1936-1938.

For nearly four decades, since their invention in 1967, the "Palestinian people" have been the recipients of more attention, more sympathy (generated by a vast propaganda campaign, that found ready listeners first among antisemites, and then among the totally ignorant -- and then among the mostly ignorant, and those three overlapping categories include a lot of people). Every U.N. meeting, every meeting of the Human Rights Commission, every meeting devoted to other subjects -- the Rights of Women, for example -- became diverted to cover, with great fanfare, the pseudo-"plight" of the pseudo-"Palestinians." Money that might have gone to Indians in Bolivia or Brazil or Peru, or to black Africans in the southern Sudan or the Congo, attention that might have been given to famine and drought in Ethiopia, to inter-communal tensions in Rwanda, to Hindus driven out of Bangladesh or Pakistan, to blacks held as slaves by Arabs in Mali, Mauritania, and elsewhere, to sexual slavery of Thai, Filipino, Indian, and other Asian women in Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, or for that matter to the non-negotiable problem of global warning, for which the global warming has gone unheeded -- all because of the false plight of the Arab Muslims (with a veneer of a few islamochristians for outside, especially American and European, consumption) that for forty years has nearly monopolized the U.N. Time to stop this nonsense completely.

And start with Gaza, by leaving it completely alone. No aid, no attention, no Israeli technnical know-how. No more leaching of money only 10% of which ever seems to make it for the purposes of alleviating poverty, but which goes instead to build villas on site for PLO cronies, and for apartments in Paris and London, and swelling bank accounts in Switzerland of the so-called "Palestinian" leaders.

Let them alone. Let them stew. Don't rescue them yet again. Don't revive their moribund image. Don't apply any more makeup. Let's see what they do, right there in Gaza.

And draw conclusions that could easily have been drawn four decades ago-- by Israel (with its remarkably inarticulate and foolish leadership), by the United States (ditto when it comes to Islam),and by the rest of the Infidel world, if only Islam had not been obscured by the desire, in the midst of the Cold War, to see Islam only as "a bulwark against Communism."

And then offer money, attention, sympathy, to the real victims -- the victims of the Jihad, in southern Sudan, in West Africa, in the Philippines, in Thailand, in the Caucasus, and of course, all over Western Europe, where the lives of the locals degrades day by day, thanks to the large-scale presence of Muslims that was not requested, not desired, but permitted by governments intent on not bothering to study, or to analyze, the unique menace that Islam presents to all non-Muslims.

Japanese people almost never go to any religious services (under 1% go weekly) and even though many American Presidents have promised to tackle the crime issue, the Christian Americans are still a violent and uncontrollable people.

This is one of those things where I ask myself, "yes, I'm mildly offended, but do I even want to take my vacation time to dignify this post with a response?"

Nah.

Good points, Josh, except that you neglect to note that lots of Japanese practice various private religious rituals. Also, Japanese police are allowed to interrogate with methods that would bring out the ACLU and NYTimes editorial staff in a fiery fit of righteous indignation.

As for Gaza, yes, let it stew in its own juices. Some time ago, members of the Falastin leadership decided to identify as descendants of the Canaanites rather than of Abraham and Ishmael. If this is prevalent in their society, the Israelis may do nothing but sit tight behind their fence and, after a few years, knock on a gate, and find the West Bank and Gaza depopulated due to what these Canaanite wannabes have done to themselves. Perhaps this is the curse of God coming down on them even now.

Can the Japanese and other peaceloving people of the world sit by?\
hey JoshNarins...can you explain why Japan has the one of world's highest sucicide rates? they are killing themselves off faster than anyone eles. if l follow your logic, its because they dont attend church? what a wacko you are!!! get real !

Christian Americans are still a violent and uncontrollable people.

Poor confused Josh. Is this what you learn while playing hide the salomi with the Imam's at your madrassa's?.

The American's that do crime are not "Christian". In fact that is very "UN Christian" of them. With the muslim population in the USA somewhere around 10 million, it's probably Muslim Americans doing these bad things.

Even so, crime rates in the USA still aren't anywhere near crime rates in Islamic countries, and can be seen by the many one handed, one footed and one handed, and handless and footless people living in them.

Is your mother still alive Josh? How many sisters do you have left that haven't been killed for "shaming the family"? Why isn't the rampant homosexual behavior that goes on in Islamic countries considered just a shameful as your sisters going on a date?
Personaly, I think sex with goats which is ok in Islamic countries to be shamefull, as well as disgusting, as it making out with your camel.

Lucky bugger. I didn't get one. :o(

Meanwhile recently released Palestinian apologist Kate Burton is not being helpful to Foreign Office Officials about the identity of the group who kidnapped her and her parents.
