For unknown reasons. Maybe because there are so many supporters of the jihad within the Pakistani government and military? But this, of course, cannot be acknowledged or even discussed -- and this PC lack of focus is costing us dearly.
Can anyone explain to me why we bothered saying 'mother may I?' in the first place? Surely a strike which would have taken out Bin Laden would have been forgiven, if not wildly applauded, by the rest of the world.

I strongly object to the use of the term civilians in this case... These were high level al Qaida operatives at this terror site, and the media has no ability to differentiate between "civilians" and operatives, given the circumstances surrounding this attack... Locals are not to be trusted to tell accurate stories about who or what was happening at the site, and the media is not qualified or capable of evaluating the situation. The media should have used a more neutral term such as "people" rather than "civilians"...
Prevaricate means to lie. They apparently mean procrastinate, although both might apply to the Pakistani ISI.

The news media truly doesn't get it. I just watched "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." They were discussing Iran. One of the commentators started talking about the right wing of the citizenry in Iran and then in the same sentence called the government right wing. Everyone clacked their jaws and nodded their heads, but there was no correction of such a mistatement, as Iran is a theological dictatorship run by Kamanei and his radical 12 man council. Radical Iran is right wing, Republicans are right wing, President Bush is right wing. It seems that this is the connection they would wish to promote. It is all about labeling and creating brand awareness.
What passes for reporting from the media is very Orwellian. I is true, that those that control the language, have considerable power. Yesterday on this page, we were given a course on the word discrimination. A word of nueteral import, that has been changed to convey a negative. The problem with discrimination claims in the legal system now, is that it is based on the listeners perception of what was done or said. Accordingly, we have groups like CAIR, the ACLU, Green Peace and others interjecting discrimination and civil rights arguments in the war against world-wide jihad and terrorism. One only has to look at what happened when profiling was alledged in the airport security search system. Grandma's from Montana get searched while single middle eastern men in their twenties pass through in greater numbers. Such actions will only delay or defeat efforts to identify and arrest those that wish us harm. This will cost lives. I except to see slogans like:

I think it is obvious by now that Musharraf does not want either Bin Ladin or Zawahiri to be caught because then he would have a significant uprising of his population and would perhaps lose his job and most likely his life.
Probably the agreement is to keep Bin Ladin and Z contained. If there is another major attack in the U.S. though, I'm sure the gloves will come off...and all listening to Pakistan will end.
