Despite strong indications that jihadist allegiances can be found at the highest levels of the Pakistani government, cosmetic anti-jihad efforts continue. Meanwhile, why did these "prayer leaders" need arms licenses and weapons? I don't know of any priest or rabbi who packs heat. What were these guys praying for, anyway?
From the Daily Times, with thanks to Nicolei:
ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has asked Islamabad Police to apprehend 16 prayer leaders placed in the 11EE category of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The ministry has also asked the Islamabad district administration to cancel the prayer leaders’ arms licences and seize their weapons.
How about just a mandatory sign at all mosques, madrasas, prayer-meetings: Check Your Weapons (kalashnikovs, dynamite, suicide-bomb-belts, knives, scimitars) At the Door.
Would that suffice?
Police "asked" to arrest 16 prayer leaders. Asked, not ordered?
Did they do it, or since they were only asked, did they decide to think about it and get around to it at their leisure?
