PESHAWAR, Pakistan Chanting "Death to America," angry anti-U.S. Islamic groups staged nationwide protests Sunday against a purported CIA airstrike that Pakistan says killed innocent civilians instead of the apparent target - top al-Qaida lieutenant Ayman al-Zawahri.
President Gen. Pervez Musharraf meanwhile, warned his countrymen not to harbor militants, saying it would only increase violence within Pakistan's borders.
"If we kept sheltering foreign terrorists here ... our future will not be good," Musharraf said in speech broadcast Sunday by state-run Pakistan Television. "Remember what I say."
Musharraf, who spoke Saturday to a gathering in the northwestern town of Sawabi, did not directly mention Friday's attack that killed at least 17 people, including women and children, in a village of Damadola, just a few kilometers (miles) from the Afghanistan border.
But his government has protested to the U.S. Embassy amid growing frustration over a recent series of suspected U.S. attacks along the frontier, apparently aimed at Islamic militants.
On Sunday, about 10,000 people rallied in Karachi, Pakistan's biggest city, many chanting "Death to American Aggression" and "Stop bombing against innocent people."...
How much would it take for sending in a platoon of undercover special forces (covered under layers of turbans and false beards and tan lotion) to "constructively participate" in some of these protest rallies and lay waste entire towns there??

Pak is being kept on life support by US largesse. Its no secret the whole of the Paki economy will collapse if the US imposes snactions. Pakistan is an excuse of a nation. In fact it is failed nation. The only reason I can think for its continued support is that it gives us a region where one can excercise "free fire".
Oh yes and all those chanters of "Death to Amrika" are now probably queing at the US embassy for a visa or taking a trip to the UK as asylum seekers.

Conventional wisdom among governments is that a failed, broken up Pakistan will be overflowing with open jihadi activity and would be pracvtically impossible to contain. But small arms and AK47s are manageble at the national level. At least the organization and capital needed to run nuke programs, chem programs etc would be out of jihadi reach! I sincerely believe the US ought to make Pak collapse and breakup an important policy objective in the GWOT.

Unfortunately there are no backers for Baluchis and their decimation by the Pakistani army will be accomplished with no observers from the MSM.

Just at the moment when it seems like it couldn't get any worse, the Paks set America up to fail by providing this phoney "intelligence" report about Zawarhri -- no doubt they invited him to dinner, and then warned him off themselves so we'd look bad -- They've all but guaranteed that it will be 100 times more difficult to carry out similar operations in the future -- it cost them nothing, and it cost us dearly... And in the end, we didn't even get our man, apparently...
It's reasonable to ask 'what could be worse than Musharref, Mubarek, or those degenerate Saudi Royals? Well, it's becoming perfectly clear to me that just about every other alternative you might mention is probably even worse...
I am increasingly convinced that nothing short of far more brutality and oppression under Islamic regimes is necessary -- If they'd only brutalize themselves into Paradise, it would be heaven for the rest of us! That is, as long as several million of us don't have to go along for the ride...
So after they set nukes off in Western lands do you think we'll find the resolve to begin dealing with them with the merciless hashness required? Just compare this commotion these Pakistanis are makeing now, to the same Pakistani suicide bombers mercilessly targeted the London Sub-way stations,and killed more than seventy London innocent civilians. There were no public outcry or protests on the streets(though London Muslims feared a backlash,and were hiding in Mosques,and houses).Added to this ,the Police were protecting these Muslims from any untoward incidents.(Even the London Mayer supported the Muslims and said since the Muslims are angry over the Iraq occupation,they have done this)!!.That gave these London Muslims courage to talk ,supporting the acts of the Bombers.
How I wish we had that spirit in us, and when the Sept.11 in New York,and the London Bombings happened , to come out in millions ,and just ransack these local guys and their Mosques,so that they will have some fear to do such things in the future.
I tell you, to deal with these people,we have to learn so many things from them,(their type of reaction),and play it back on them whenever we are put into such situation.
That includes- 1. Copy Saudi Arabia,and refuse any Muslims to enter our lands.
2.Copy Islamic countries,and keep them as second class citizens.
3.Copy them,and openly criticise Koran.(They openly declare Bible is corrupted here,and we are keeping quiet)
4.No additional bennifits for more children.
5.They dont allow crosses -Dont allow parda or skull-caps.
These are the only ways to treat these people. Our civilised reactions to their attrocities will make us 'taken for granted'.It is high time we learn to change our attitude towards these set of Barbarians.

These are among the reasons why I would adovcate a more cautious US foreign policy. Yet I have also heard that a mullah in Pakistani Kashmir got hissed by his congregation when he warned them of the dangers of Western aid. Hence, I do not think those people are necessarily or hopelessly intransigent. It is proper to wish people well and hope for the best.
I'm reading V.S. Naipaul's Among the Believers. In this work, he has a large section on Pakistan in the 1980 timeframe. Pakistan was/is a failed nation state. Developed as the first 'pure Islamic state', it never developed a cohesive population, stable government or economy. The only trend one can see is a continuing purification as an even more Islamic state. More fundamentalism among the Muslims and less of Hindu's, Christians ect. Yes, it's too bad that innocents die . . . like those 3000 million burned to death on 9-11-01, but I applaud our efforts and only wish we hit pay dirt.

The only way the scenario you've outlined will work is if India makes it a point to close its border with Pakistan in such an eventuallity. Somehow, I don't quite have the faith that that will happen.
About Baluchistan, whenever you see the word Baluchi, substitute the word "Pathan". Quetta is a Pathan dominated area, and there are segments of Baluchis in Helmand province in Afghanistan. Also, many Afghans claim Pathan areas of Pakistan as belonging to Afghanistan, and dispute the Durand line, thereby having claims on Peshawar & Quetta.
